Truck master!! I have a question on my lift pump for a 03 GMC 3500 6.6l.....how do I get in contact? The directions for this lift pump is just completely messed up
I appreciate you showing real-world rust belt intermittent problems and the process you go through to find the problem(s). Your videos are very well done. Watching them is time well spent!
RUclips has gone the wrong way the last years. I wasn't getting his videos on my feed and saw that RUclips unsubscribed me from the channel. Way to go RUclips
@@marocho266 and same for me. Didn’t see his videos on my recommend for months and didn’t get notifications. Their going in the wrong direction for sure
I got an 08 GMC Duramax. Bought it slightly used in 09 started working the known issues to make the truck completely reliable. I deleted the DPF and EGR functions, did a reroute of the PCV and added a FASS lift pump and fuel filter delete up front. Then replaced all fluids with synthetic. A few years ago I got very tired of the stock 26 gallon tank and did an S&B 62 gallon tank. The truck has over 200k on it and I would not think of getting rid of it. Runs perfect and pulls everything I got without knowing it is back there.
My LML Duramax did this to me twice. After the 2nd manual regen at the dealer, I had the DPF removed and had it tuned so the electronics wouldn't complain. A couple of months later, I had all of the rest of the emissions taken off and it is never been better. It came with the CP4 fuel pump, so I converted to the CP 3 while I was at it. Fortunately, I live in Texas where they only do safety checks on diesels, not emissions.
Did you replace the braided section of the fuel line where it comes over the drivers side valve cover? Mine was kinked and would go into limp mode every time I pulled a heavy load
Bought a 2006 Express 2500 with an LLY. It didn’t start so I checked the fuel filter and it was nasty old fuel. Removed the tank and cleaned it and am replacing all the fuel lines all the way to the back of the motor using a Fass lift pump. Got a low pressure fuel line kit along with injector return lines and will check and flush all the fuel lines and replace everything bad.
I have always found it to be much easier and faster to unbolt the bed and lift that off with the hoist. You don’t have to manhandle the tank or disturb everything around the tank including fuel lines. Injector return rates aren’t fun to test on these trucks but this truck would be a good candidate to test them on given the issues you have had and the miles on the truck. I would personally test that before throwing a new CP3 at it.
WTF! Why are they demonetizing your channel? I’m so sick of the autocrats at YT! I love your videos brother I can’t wait for each one to come out. I’ve got two GMC trucks an 04 SLT Sierra crew cab and 05 2500HD Duramax diesel. I love my trucks!
I have this truck, it did the same thing pulling a 34' airstream on I-20 in Atl - pull the fuel pickup in the tank, replace it. I also had restricted (crimped ) fuel lines. I was sucking air at the metal fittings at the top of the fuel pickup.
Please keep us updated I have an 08 lmm having the same exact issue an my truck is tuned FRUSTRATING is an understatement!! Changed the pressure regulator an fuel primer still having same issues 🤦🏽♂️ thanks an hope all goes well with the channel I learned a lot from here
I have an LMM luckily I don’t have any of these issues but your videos give me some knowledge that give me some confidence that I’d have a better idea if I was to. Thank you man love the videos
I think you're gonna need injectors my friend. Ive been fighting the same exact thing with my LMM. The injector return rates were fine until I towed heavy in the summer heat. The fuel gets hot, the return rates spike and bam. P0087 reduced engine power. I installed new injectors and an AirDog 165 5g ( bought it off your website btw) and we are good to go. I also fired the parts cannon at it to no avail. I wish i wouldve just replaced the injectors right away.
hello from the other side of the state lol im just north of grand rapids. but anyways i had a similar issue with my lb7 and sparta chevy wanted like 3 grand for a cp3 , i was thinking it had to be the FPR ( i had a rough idle and some other issues) ended up being the 5V wire that goes to the accelerator pedal. had a local guy fix it for 75$ in less than a hour. sparta chevy had it for a week.
Have an 06 LBZ with same problem when towing my rv. Shifts into limp mode. Shut it down for a minute, restart and go again. Noticed if I stay under 65 mph she does well. Have also pumped the fuel pump and that will get her going again. Have replaced injectors and some sensors. Only a problem when towing and temps rise.
Did you ever solve your issue? I have a 2007 GMC 2500HD Duramax, currently with 213,000 miles & it’s been doing this for past couple years. I put in a fass fuel pump system a year or so back in hopes to solve the issue, it seemed like it helped for a while, But then it started again. If I pull a horse trailer loaded, locally within an hour or so, it’s fine. But when I travel & I’m moving along pretty good cruising at 75Mph, As I start to head up a small incline… putting a. Bit more strain on the motor, I can feel it go into limp mode. If I baby it I can continue down the road at 60-65mph until I get to next exit, But it won’t go past 2000 rpm. The first few times it did this 2+ years back, I just thought it was bad fuel or a faulty fuel filter, so I replaced a few of them unnecessary. Then I figured as you mentioned, if I pull over, shut the engine off for about 3-5 mins, Then it’s good to go for another 150-175 miles. I don’t know if it would go into limp mode without a trailer because I don’t drive it much during the week & it’s all just local driving. Mine is all factory, except for the Fass lift pump & filter system, So I would assume it may need injectors? But even with well over 200k miles this is engine is very strong, So no sign of any struggling or loss of power under normal driving conditions, Other thing I’m considering is the CP3 pump, Just don’t want to replace parts unnecessary.
@darinbarfield8738 Sounds exactly like my 06LBZ. Fass lift pump didn't fix it. It usually goes limp at low rpm pulling a moderate grade. Keeping the rpms above 2500 by manual shifting down and only 3/4 throttle gets me up the hills towing 10000 lbs. Crazy that there isn't an easy solution.
I would agree with Ryan. I have had several LMM trucks that have had the same issues you are and both times it was a high return rate on the injectors. I had Scheid Diesel test them and they came back with high return rates
Hello Josh. It's great that you are able to help your friend out with his truck. And it's also great to have Ryan from Ryan's Desiel Service to help you out with problems like these.
The best way to tell if your injectors are returning to much fuel without doing the time consuming bottle test is your will always have very high fuel temps . Way above normal . Lmm injectors are bad about returning to much fuel . Your balance rates are always good . Very seldom is it a cp3. I’m a experienced diesel tech .
I have a similar problem with my truck, sad part is its got 350k miles so could be anything but going to start with lines, cooler and sending unit see what happens.
I have had recurring intermittent problems with reduced engine power on my 07 Duramax except it has been a throttle position sensor correlation code every time (can’t remember the number). Changed pedals with other trucks and new ones, changed the plug, ohmed wires, cleaned connections. About the only thing left to do is replace the ECM. Nothing makes sense. So frustrating, especially when it acts up pulling a trailer.
Fleece makes a nice replacement sending unit for duramaxs, most trucks really, that has a return port for a lift pump. It’s about the same price as an oem sending unit also.
Confused tho. If there is a sending unit in the tank then so it dose tech have a lift pump before the cp4 Also my lmm is a reduce power no codes found related to fuel presiure
been driving my 06 lbz for 5 years this this problem, helps alot to add a quart of lucas injector cleaner and fuel treatment to each tank, only time i have problems is when over 100 degrees outside. did lift pump, and rail plug. at 340k sure its cp3
Pretty sad when a diesel mechanic can't keep a truck running. not knocking your abilities or skills, but having had a Duramax that cost me over $10K in the last year alone in repairs its sad that there are so many issues with these newer diesel engines!
I think all vehicles have a few hundred more sensors than is really needed to get up and down the road. It's a shame that you take your vehicle to the garage. The first thing a $3000.00 tablet is plug in to your computer to tell what's wrong. I say 90% of the time it still don't know the problem. And your looking at a ,$500.00 diagnostic fee. And you still don't the problem.
@@rileyschufelt6982that’s really just a massive cop out for an answer.. older diesels don’t have that problem, and the guy has a good point, they have so many extra unneeded features that are not reliable and cause issues constantly and are expensive to fix
The sending unit was the problem with my son's LLY. I had replaced lines throughout, the filter and head, and a Raptor lift pump. Still acted up. I knew the fuel pump was fine being it would run fine and strong when it wasn't being stupid. I ended up putting in a sump on the fuel tank and now it runs perfect.
Put a fass pump on it with a sump kit and you won't have to worry about it anymore. Btw I love your videos they are very informative, fun to watch, and very helpful for a new Duramax owner. Keep up the good work.
Hey Truck Master, try taking the two harness connections above the driver valve cover apart, clean the prongs and plug back in. Had this happen on my dads ‘08 LMM and that did the truck. Dead petal and code was P0698
Really? I have an 06 LBZ damn thing went back into limp mode this weekend p0087 AGAIN😤 I have already done lift pump injectors and cp3. At my wits end.
So I have a 2005 Duramax I seem to have some sort of this same issue it only happens every now and then after a long haul with my 5th wheel. The last time I towed it 160 miles and after unhooking the camper shut the truck down and then the truck wouldn't restart. I bled the line for air and it started up and is running fine again. Any thoughts?
I had this same issue. Would lose prime after towing and would not start. Try looking into O ring replacement in the fuel filter housing or a new fuel filter housing. You can buy kits to do it yourself. Easy. As the truck cools down the O rings leak and air gets sucked back into the housing causing you to lose prime.
Race plugs are a bad idea. In the rare event you get an over pressure situation from a bad fpr you can cook the injectors. Or do you have the race plug that still has a relief at least ?
Keep the LMM stock. More follow up videos of this truck. After reading the comments, I'm shy about pulling trailers with my 2008 LMM in hot weather, i had your issues on a hot summer day pulling a trailer with a zero turn mower on it (trailer and mower only weigh 5200lbs!) only to rescue the trailer with a 2020 Honda Ridgeline!
idk if he ever got it fixed but change ur throttle petal. it will fix it, mine drove me nuts with this problem. bad fuel petal kicks on the limp mode. same fuel codes.
Wow buddy It doesn't look good for me .. I got an 08 3500 Gmc from Michigan . What are the odds that's probably the same thing I have to do. We shall see Thanks Josh. U Are The Man.
I also own a 2007 lmm. I’m not a mechanic, but when my truck was having the same issues, we changed everything possible, new fuel lines, added a lift pump, and still had the issue. The solution was the changing the injectors. The truck has run like a top since. Going on 2 years now
Honestly, Thank you for sharing with us. As well as Thank you for all the information you continually provide us with top notch Diesel Tech. You deserve a wonderful earning opportunity from your videos. Looks like I'll need to hit that link. Thank you for providing that for us to be able to help if available. Stay blessed 🙌
I was having low fuel rail pressure issues on my 2006 duramax pulling my three axle camper it would go into limp mode I'd clear the code till the next big hill if I didn't use the cruise control and force it to down shift early it would do just fine I put a lift pump on it issue salved
You were so close! Now go back and replace the lines that feed the filter housing. They have a foam piece around them that hide the problem. The hose will be egg shaped inside of that foam piece. By the dipstick. Once the get warm they collapse and cause restrictions. Specifically on the feed side.
So here we go ...we changed out tank sender all fuel lines and put a electric lift pump on this truck has done 325000ks with no issues since fitting these parts ..the issues started at 310000ks it pulls a trailer most of the time it's had 2 injectors to my knowledge of owning the truck it's a little dirty on first start up other than that it's still going strong ...when u consider that a cummins with the same pump goes a lot further it's the lift pump situation dodge has 1 gm don't shouldev had 1 from new then the bad fuel lines would've showed up as fuel would be pumping to the motor showing up your leaks ...good luck ps never changed out an injection pump yet ...thks for the content ..
Truck master!! I have a question on my lift pump for a 03 GMC 3500 6.6l.....how do I get in contact? The directions for this lift pump is just completely messed up
@TruckMaster yessir I did. The fuel line that you essentially replace is just a solid fuel line that goes from the tank to the motor. There's no connection behind the fuel cooler
I just got mine back after having very similar issues but only when outside temps where high (above 85 F) and while towing. They pulled the injectors for a bench test to simulate higher fuel temps and found almost all injectors had bad return rates despite good balance rates. Luckily the truck had no fuel pump issues or else the bill would have been crazy high. Had them do the race plug and install my air dog I got from you months ago since they were in there doing work.
Not to bad mouth a product , but I just purchased a completely new Fuel filter housing & filter assembly for my LB-7 & saw Nothing but bad Reviews on those Henkyo filter set ups !!! Just my 2 cents here . I paid the extra cash & bought a new Racor / Parfit OEM setup for mine as it’s been on truck now over 20 years & I rebuilt the Pump head once about 5-7 years ago. My truck only has an issue when shut down after a long run in hot weather. Sometimes it just dies after re-starting after about a 10-15 minute period & I have to pop hood & re-prime it & other times it has No Issues. The new filter head assembly with new filters for Airdog lift pump are all going on hopefully this weekend and I’m crossing my fingers this will solve my issues . The Edge CTS-3 has shown NO rail pressure issues running under any loaded conditions & Actual pressure is very consistent with required rail pressure at any given load & speed . Only acts like it has a vapor lock or restriction after hot & sitting a few minutes. Give it a 1/2 hour cool down & the damn thing starts & runs fine every time 😐. C-ya on down the road … 🤞
I keep having issues with mine. Bought the truck said the fuel filter needed to be changed I changed the fuel filter it lasted maybe a month or 2 roughly 1-2 thousand miles then said I needed to change it again cel came on code p0087 deleted the code ran fine and I changed the filter again and put a car filter crossing fingers now
I few Months Ago I had the same issue on my Truck. So after watching so many Vedeos on RUclips I found one vedeo that I had watched about the Ignition Switch Solenoid ... I took it apart and cleaned it out. I found out that the "Resistance" on the Switch Solenoid goes out after it heats up. So I went to O'Reilly's Auto store and bout a new Switch Solenoid, after installing it, Limp Mode went away, no more transmission Problems, like "Shift Inhibited" that went away, check Engine light went off. So After I also changed my transmission fluid out, both Filter' from my Allison Transmission, and now my transmission shifts so Smooth. I was going of from the process of Elimination, where I started with a few electrical Diagnostics and Finally I tried the Switch Solenoid..... it's an option ! If someone is have those issues, it Drove me Crazy and I felt so Frustrated where I actually thought it was my Allison Transmission....I began to panic because I didn't have Thousands of dollars for a new Transmission...where in fact it was a part which cost me less than $ 50.. Dollars....my mind feels so relieved now, that I figured out what the Source was through Simple Electrical Process of Elimination....
@@TruckMaster had a work truck 07 LBZ have similar issue and so much money thrown at it, come to find out we had a common denominator of being everytime Indian reservation diesel was used. Drained the tank Went back to our sonoco station and never had an issue again. It was all to save .31 cents a gallon which for the headache wasn’t even worth it and therefore never get gas or diesel at one ever again
I have a 2009, too, with 225k miles, and I am contemplating on doing a full delete also. I've had the cab off since June fixing all the leaks from the egr cooler. Please help me to know what year of coldside down pipe I will need. I would like to buy WC Fab bundle 1. Thanks P.S. I have already purchased the LB7 uppipe from PPE.
What is the fuel race valve and where is it in a L5 P? And What about the balance rates normally? I have 5 that were reading about 1000 and 3 that’s in the 900’s. Can’t find anyone to tell me if they are bad or not. Always a helpful video from you.
Hey truck master, you are missing a important key element when repairing. The owner hauls a trailer. While testing a truck that hauls a trailer, you also need to perform test with a trailer that is empty and loaded. I'm talking from over 15 years of experience on working on trucks and including big rigs. I'm not bashing you or anything like that. You are doing a good job repairing vehicles but gotta pay attention to customer details. For example how they drive, what the vehicle is being used for, etc. I want to see you excel at what you do. Keep up the good work.
Hey man. Another nice video, I love the diag content. Also, love that hat and ordered one for myself. Didn’t realize it wasn’t adjustable big enough for my fat head. My wife has a new Duramax hat. Thanks again!
I had the exact problem with a 95 f150 6 banger(gas). I changed fuel filters multiple times on my back the road. Filter wasn’t dirty after the first change but thought maybe it’s a dirty tank so I even blew air back into the supply towards the tank thinking it’s a tank sock dirty. All didn’t help! I traced every inch of the fuel line and found something I had never seen before up by the firewall next to distributor. Too tight to get to it on the road so I banged it with wrench. That fixed it! Had double power from there on out too. I believe it was because I used fuel injector cleaner and it locked something up inside that little regulator? I think I heard you say something about a regulator (I know that it’s nowhere near the same type system but if there’s a regulator and he added injector cleaner. Maybe! Idk but worth a try. Good luck sir
Drain some fuel , and let it sit in a glass jar. If you see tiny bubbles that’s water / micro beeds! What it is actually is animal fats from fast food restaurants. Refineries are allowed to mix up to 20/40 bio diesel depends on what part of the country your in. I went through a similar situation with my trucks , had me chasing a ghost until a friend of mine who happens to work at the refinery and does fuel testing told me.
I am dealing with a somewhat similar problem right now. Except I have a 2015 LML that I have deleted, installed a fleece CP3, Air Dog lift pump and HSP intercooler piping. I think my issue is a failed lift pump. TBD
Did you ever figure out what your issue was? I also have a 2015 LML. Just did a CP3 conversion on it and total EGR delete. Now I'm having lots of issues with it. Defueling is definitely one when the truck gets warm or I'm pulling a heavy load.
@TruckMaster do you have access to diesel laptops or all data? If not I can email you some literature for factory service procedure and specs for checking the pump
I don't know but Banks fuel pumps, parts, etc. to me is the only way to go. More and better engineering. If you are building specialty trucks then do whatever, but if you are building general trucks for service, then Banks.
I have the 7.5 LMM with the exact same issues!! I have thrown a new FPR on it, Fuel lines not kinked, new fuel filter housing (now delete kit), Airdog lift pump, and now waiting for a fuel rail pressure sensor.... I also bought the sump and will be installing that soon. I hope its not a CP3 issue... but my question to you is if I put the sump in, will I also need to replace the sending unit or can I just leave that alone and just block it off?
Just did a beans sump and 165 lift pump, you can just block it off. But I would keep the return line hooked up so fuel from engine still has a place too go. My feed and return are both on the sump. Also keep it plugged in so your fuel level sensor still works for your fuel gauge. Lastly, double check when you install the sump that you do not hit the sending unit and or float. Wasn’t the most fun job but the after is well worth it
@@TruckMaster you are correct. Beans kit came with a 1/2 inch plug. Mine wasn’t so easy, pinched the line to hard so plug wouldn’t go in, had to cut the fitting off and use the plug with a clamp. The rubber braided lines I noticed are way under quality which you saw on this truck. There is actually a gm bulletin on all those sections from tank to motor collapsing. Had to replaced my main feed line the other day due to that. Lift pump helped but on a hot day cruising 75 on cruise I could tell a small lag still. The pump helped keep the kink spots open but not enough. Ordered evil energy fuel line and used the feed quick disconnects from air dogg kit and made and ran a brand new line. So far so good.
@TruckMaster I think there is a bot or a scammer replying to your chats.. I got a message saying I won something and to message them on telegram......is that you or no?
If injectors are returning too much fuel it will drain the rail, pretty common, the rates will read fine, injectors will sound normal and all but there physically returning too much fuel and draining the rail and cp3 can’t keep up. I’d put money on injectors not the cp3
I’m looking at buying a duramax and I’m stuck between an LMM or an LML what’s your opinion? I know you’re busy but I have an email I can give you I wanted to ask about the common failure points on both trucks. I’m trying to find one below 150k miles just wanted to ask before I buy one and you’re the man to ask
i know that this is an old video but god my gmc is doing this exact thing ive got 13k into it already and still no one can figure it out!!! new injectors 4 new cp3 pumps new rails new lines and nothing.
100% delete it. The emissions restrictions on any vehicle is a joke. It does not protect anyone except those who have a vested interest in profiting from the regulation.
Emission system is not giving him any trouble. Leave it alone he needs all the money he has to fix the fuel problems. Nothing that’s wrong with this truck has anything to do with the emission system. I will get rid of this truck. It’s time to go. It’s just a money pit and it’s not reliable and you don’t trust it when she don’t trust the truck it’s got to go.
Josh I love my L. M. M there's nothing wrong with deleting your truck it's yours man even though mine is bone stock I love it this truck I have is absolutely beautiful it's a California truck no rust you can eat off this motor it's that clean I haven't had any issues so far except the tire pressure gauge light I can't delete mine I'm in California and it's not a good idea here lol great video love the Duramax trucks wouldn't own anything else how's the wife's truck doing I know you've had issues with it I've been praying you get it figured out !!!
How come you don’t buy a fleece performance sending unit? They are made out of billet aluminum so you will never have rusting on it. That’s what I put in my 06 I think it cost me like $359
Been through this ended up replacing all fuel lines adding a 165 air dog lift pump deleted the fuel lines on the engine and deleted the fuel test port and added a cp3 hi flow kit with a ported fitting and a new fuel filter head assembly since after rebuilding the stock one I still wasn’t happy. And yet was still getting p0087. Come to find out one of the first things I ever did the Ppe fuel race plug wasn’t seated in 100% and letting diesel into the return lines anything past 20k psi there for throwing it into low fuel pressure and I tested this by disconnecting the return line off the plug and ran my own 3/8 line down to a clear water bottle took it for a drive got it into limp and saw the bottle was over flowing full so diesel was getting past the plug. Fixed the plug and haven’t had a problem since. But I also replaced the whole fuel system except for a new cp3 but did a ported fitting and new fuel pressure regulator on the cp3.

Did this fix the problem? I have an 08 and I’m having the same issue. Came across your video. Vey detailed 👍🏻
If that's a Dmaxstore fuel cap, I think it has a magnet on top to allow the cap to stick onto the inside of the fuel door.
I would check return rates on the injectors before changing the cp3 sounds like an injector hanging open dropping rail pressure

I put in a fass fuel pump system a year or so back in hopes to solve the issue, it seemed like it helped for a while,
But then it started again.
If I pull a horse trailer loaded, locally within an hour or so, it’s fine.
But when I travel & I’m moving along pretty good cruising at 75Mph,
As I start to head up a small incline… putting a. Bit more strain on the motor, I can feel it go into limp mode.
If I baby it I can continue down the road at 60-65mph until I get to next exit,
But it won’t go past 2000 rpm.
The first few times it did this 2+ years back, I just thought it was bad fuel or a faulty fuel filter, so I replaced a few of them unnecessary.
Then I figured as you mentioned, if I pull over, shut the engine off for about 3-5 mins,
Then it’s good to go for another 150-175 miles.
I don’t know if it would go into limp mode without a trailer because I don’t drive it much during the week & it’s all just local driving.
Mine is all factory, except for the Fass lift pump & filter system,
So I would assume it may need injectors?
But even with well over 200k miles this is engine is very strong,
So no sign of any struggling or loss of power under normal driving conditions,
Other thing I’m considering is the CP3 pump,
Just don’t want to replace parts unnecessary.
Thanks for the info
A air dog with sump my first option and a used sender in recent leaking
I have a similar problem with my truck, sad part is its got 350k miles so could be anything but going to start with lines, cooler and sending unit see what happens.
I have had recurring intermittent problems with reduced engine power on my 07 Duramax except it has been a throttle position sensor correlation code every time (can’t remember the number). Changed pedals with other trucks and new ones, changed the plug, ohmed wires, cleaned connections. About the only thing left to do is replace the ECM. Nothing makes sense. So frustrating, especially when it acts up pulling a trailer.
You need a harness to pedal module . Probably a bad wire .
Fleece makes a nice replacement sending unit for duramaxs, most trucks really, that has a return port for a lift pump. It’s about the same price as an oem sending unit also.
Confused tho. If there is a sending unit in the tank then so it dose tech have a lift pump before the cp4
Also my lmm is a reduce power no codes found related to fuel presiure
Your cp4 dose all the work the sending unit is just a straw and a sensor basically
been driving my 06 lbz for 5 years this this problem, helps alot to add a quart of lucas injector cleaner and fuel treatment to each tank, only time i have problems is when over 100 degrees outside. did lift pump, and rail plug. at 340k sure its cp3
Simple if you don’t have the money to fix a Diesel then don’t buy one. It’s not easy to find the issue first try
@@rileyschufelt6982that’s really just a massive cop out for an answer.. older diesels don’t have that problem, and the guy has a good point, they have so many extra unneeded features that are not reliable and cause issues constantly and are expensive to fix
@@rileyschufelt6982👈 what out everyone miss high roller has entered the chat.
Injectors is the problem
The sending unit was the problem with my son's LLY. I had replaced lines throughout, the filter and head, and a Raptor lift pump. Still acted up. I knew the fuel pump was fine being it would run fine and strong when it wasn't being stupid. I ended up putting in a sump on the fuel tank and now it runs perfect.
I'm curious if the problem has been resolved. My brothers truck is doing the same thing and I haven't been able to track down the issue.
So far so good
Any updates on this truck?
Put a fass pump on it with a sump kit and you won't have to worry about it anymore. Btw I love your videos they are very informative, fun to watch, and very helpful for a new Duramax owner. Keep up the good work.
Thanks
Hey Truck Master, try taking the two harness connections above the driver valve cover apart, clean the prongs and plug back in. Had this happen on my dads ‘08 LMM and that did the truck. Dead petal and code was P0698
Really? I have an 06 LBZ damn thing went back into limp mode this weekend p0087 AGAIN😤 I have already done lift pump injectors and cp3. At my wits end.
That’s a very good idea I’ve done this before and it actually worked on a few trucks I was working on.
Had a 2018 same problems. I sold it back to chevy and until they stop taking def then problems will continue.
So is the truck still running good ? Hasn’t had any problems since this
It is the psi reg under the egr coolet
idk if he ever got it fixed but change ur throttle petal. it will fix it, mine drove me nuts with this problem. bad fuel petal kicks on the limp mode. same fuel codes.
Wow buddy
It doesn't look good for me .. I got an 08 3500 Gmc from Michigan . What are the odds that's probably the same thing I have to do. We shall see
Thanks Josh.
U Are The Man.
I also own a 2007 lmm. I’m not a mechanic, but when my truck was having the same issues, we changed everything possible, new fuel lines, added a lift pump, and still had the issue. The solution was the changing the injectors. The truck has run like a top since. Going on 2 years now
Great info thanks
Hey just had this issue and solved it! It was the wiring harness up front was rubbing on the power steering 2 wires grounded out intermittently.
Code was P0461
I have an issue on my 11 lml check valve on return line from injectors or injection pump. Can you just change the check valve?
You were so close! Now go back and replace the lines that feed the filter housing. They have a foam piece around them that hide the problem. The hose will be egg shaped inside of that foam piece. By the dipstick. Once the get warm they collapse and cause restrictions. Specifically on the feed side.
I already did
So here we go ...we changed out tank sender all fuel lines and put a electric lift pump on this truck has done 325000ks with no issues since fitting these parts ..the issues started at 310000ks it pulls a trailer most of the time it's had 2 injectors to my knowledge of owning the truck it's a little dirty on first start up other than that it's still going strong ...when u consider that a cummins with the same pump goes a lot further it's the lift pump situation dodge has 1 gm don't shouldev had 1 from new then the bad fuel lines would've showed up as fuel would be pumping to the motor showing up your leaks ...good luck ps never changed out an injection pump yet ...thks for the content ..
So, what's the update? did this fix the issue?
It was the sending unit
13 LML. same issues
Truck master!! I have a question on my lift pump for a 03 GMC 3500 6.6l.....how do I get in contact? The directions for this lift pump is just completely messed up
Watch my lift pump install videos brother 👍
How many mile you have on it
Is the L5P known for the same issues? I have a 17 Dinali 6.6 L5P Dura max in low power mode right now
Why is the sending units so much?! I mean the gas ones with a punp are half the price
Bought the truck said the fuel filter needed to be changed I changed the fuel filter it lasted maybe a month or 2 roughly 1-2 thousand miles then said I needed to change it again cel came on code p0087 deleted the code ran fine and I changed the filter again and put a car filter crossing fingers now
I have a C4500 with the LMM.Mine just did the exact same thing as yours....117k mikes.Truck runs perfect otherwise.
I’ve seen where truck went into limb mode because you cannot use curse control and exhaust brake at the same time.
Money on the sending unit fuel draw tube... how much fuel is in it when this happens the limp mode
Just out of curiosity has he tried a different gas station for diesel fuel?
I’m not to sure
Thanks
Is 44-4500psi normal?
My LLY is 41-4200psi at idle with a lift pump. Desired and actual is bang on.
Thanks again Brian!
Happy to win especially from your fantastic site
What do I need to do now
High return rate on the injectors ✌️✌️
Alright truck master…. Has that truck been back or was that it… we need to know… sounds like alot of us are having similar problems
It was the sending unit
Check the suction on the cp3. If the truck doesn't have a lift pump the injection pump could be bad on the suction side
That’s a great point
@TruckMaster do you have access to diesel laptops or all data? If not I can email you some literature for factory service procedure and specs for checking the pump
Had a similar problem only to find out it was a bad gas cap. LOL
I don't know but Banks fuel pumps, parts, etc. to me is the only way to go. More and better engineering. If you are building specialty trucks then do whatever, but if you are building general trucks for service, then Banks.
Keep up with the good work and remember what do they know?
Hey Josh does Ryan make all 3 sizes of turbos with the 9 blade. 64mm, 66mm, and 68mm?
I’m not to sure but my guess is yes 👍
It’s the injectors. I went through this before also.
Keep up the good work. Love your videos. Definitely check the return rates before you do the cp3
Wasn’t the most fun job but the after is well worth it
Keep it in place and just run the sum no need to block it off except the suction port on the sending unit I believe
I got a message saying I won something and to message them on telegram......is that you or no?
thanks for great content. I had to resubscribe. hopefully Rumble becomes a solid youtube alternative
Good luck on the truck keep going with the videos
Dang bro. Those trucks are crusty up there 😳
You have to have a lift pump on Duramax the stock system is vacuum fed
Should have used a fleece in tank lift pump 2 birds with one stone
i thought LMM's had cp4?
Got any cores I buy ?
Needs injectors. Return rates are prob super high
Thanks 🙏
Deleting your trucks when you are a shop owner would probably put a target on your back with the EPA. Their fines kill diesel shops.
How come you don’t buy a fleece performance sending unit? They are made out of billet aluminum so you will never have rusting on it. That’s what I put in my 06 I think it cost me like $359
That's what I did for my lml
Not to familiar with the product but I’m sure they are great.
@@TruckMaster it's a lift pump that replaces the sending unit
If you're doing a lift pump anyways. Why not just put a sump kit. This way you can eliminate the lines on the sending unit all together
Thee only solution for my 3500HD was a new exhaust and delete the DEF system.
