  • Following up on last weeks shorts video, we're going to take a closer look at the C2 Corvette midyear instrument gauge cluster produced from 1963-1967. Watch as I give a brief overview of the cluster and its operation, and discuss how some of the advancements in vehicle safety standards have made driving safer for the vast majority of the driving public.
I also take a few minutes to compare the 1967 C2 Midyear Corvette instrument cluster to a 2006 Corvette instrument cluster and highlight the build differences between the two.

Back in 1968, I was driving my 1966 427 Corvette. The traffic light changed green for me and I proceeded into the intersection, Out of nowhere, so S.O.B. ran the light in struck me in the driver's door at about 50 MPH. I was knocked unconscious both clavicles were shattered. My car was stuck so hard that the car cracked up and was knocked about 100 feet down the road (It was raining).
I believe I survived the accident due to the body shell absorbing and then distributing impact energy by cracking up. So this video is essentially incorrect in its stetement that the Vette is unsafe. It IS safe.

Sounds like a wild ride you had there. I'm glad to hear you made it out relatively unscathed. I will say, I would still rather take my chances in a newer car than a midyear Corvette for a serious accident like yours.

Metal vs. plastic as well as real glass instead of plastic and the weight factor. I think of it as quality compared to todays plastic disposable world. Love your videos, by far the best of ant corvette channel. Question, how does one contact you for parts?

Thanks Dalton. YT is pretty sensitive about sharing contact info, but if you look in the description of my Shorts you will find it there. You can also DM me on Instagram @VetteSource to touch base directly. Let me know if you have any difficulty finding it.

Hey John, good guess but there's something else that I hadn't even noticed until I had the clusters side by side. Think of a mirror👍

The C2 coupe is sexier than the convertible. Change my mind. By the way, do you have any C3 project cars for sale?

    • @VetteSource
      @VetteSource  2 года назад +1

No argument here. Were you looking for an early or later C3?

@@VetteSource A later C3, the 78-82 range. I'm in no rush, just askin around. Wanna get rid of my 78 Eldorado project for something sportier.

Gotcha. No 78-82's at the moment, but will let you know if anything comes up.

I think the first sign of sexual impotence is when you start saying "I don't know if I need all of these gauges".

Misleading information at the start of the video.
It's supposed to be just talking about the instrument cluster.
It's got low light situations styling to the dials.
It's got full sweep and half sweep gauges.
Our brain has to adjust to those 2 different types of gauges as we're driving the car 🚗.
    Etc

Misleading, huh? Interesting perspective. I'll have to go back over the video to see what your referring to. Thanks for watching👍.
