    Got the Hypervolt. It’s excellent. The analytics and scheduling is very useful and the integration will be upgraded further with EV energy tariffs etc. The customer service is second to none. I’ve bounced emails with them, and Flavian himself in the middle of the night as I was also working late. The vision and passion behind this company is inspiring. I’m glad I didn’t go with the free bp pulse charger. The company that fitted it said half their time is spent repairing them. If you can afford to pay for a charger this is the one to get in my opinion.

      I’m impressed with the response speed on the app, but I still feel like we don’t need much from a home charger? Don’t know if I’m missing something. My Nissan Leaf has a setting in the car to set a timer. I get home, plug in and leave it till the morning, the car then accepts the charge between the set hours.

      Hypervolt.:Got back to me... And had 2 points...
      1st the primary reason it uses an internet connection is for owner who have a variable tariff/rate that is base real time demand... So the utility can vary charging times based on demand at lower tariff/rate. And within a time frame set the EV owner. Sorry if that a little confusing to follow.
      Also in future versions it will allow a local connection (no protocol was given) for most functions. But no timetable was given for when the new version will be available.
      They seen to be reacting customer demand for changes to it.

      @@davyhoogy Some cars have no car scheduled charging in car setup have to rely on EV charger extra added option is Solar to use Eco Mode to utilise my Solar PV to charge at 1.4 kW for Free Solar energy. The choice of EV chargers in two years has increased with different options just has the choice of more EV vehicles for the purchaser

    I have a Hypervolt and Flavian kindly sorted everything out, getting the installer to me and the unit installed in 17 days! Other companies wanted an upfront payment, wouldn't give me an install date and wouldn't answer any of my questions I put to them directly. I am so happy I went with this unit, Many thanks Flavian.

      No companies should ask for upfront payments, its against the rules of their CPS provider (Niceic, Napit etc). Glad you like your Hypervolt they are excellent👍

    A simple as possible. My charger has no app, Wi-Fi, Cloud, Alexa nonsense. Its a 2012 charger which has never broken and works fine. The problem with electric vehicle ownership is the £50k SUV and not complicating home chargers.

      It doesn’t need WiFi, gps, and be internet of things compliant. Or vacuum the garage while you’re sleeping. It’s a simple device, don’t complicate it so it can be fixed. Let it be, it’s fine as is.

      It's not so much what it does now, but that it's essentially a PC and can do pretty much whatever they want it to by developing software for it.

      @@mike.n.davies It doesn't in the same way. OTAs are automated with hypervolt, we have the ability push the updates automatically, which other products do not offer.

    Why does controlling the brightness of the indicator have to go via the Cloud anyway?
    I mean, seriously, you're showing off that you managed to get the pointless round trip to Ireland and back to be so fast... almost as fast as if, you know, the phone was just directly communicating with the box, without the pointless round trip. That's a bizarre kind of brag to make, really.
    Here's the problem with the Cloud.
    What guarantee do we have that your server will still be operating in, say, 5 years? Because if those servers aren't there, then the box can't do anything. You can't even change the brightness of the indicator.
    If the Internet goes down in my area, then doesn't this mean I can't do anything with the box?
    When you develop future products and improve your hardware, will your servers still support the older protocols that my older box uses? Or will we find, in 5 or 10 years' time, when you've moved to "version 3.0" that versions 1.0 and 2.0 now no longer work... and, basically, you can FORCE the upgrade cycle through such incompatibility.
    Even if you claim you never would, then - via the Cloud - you absolutely could. So what guarantee or trust can a consumer have that when you move onto bigger and brighter things in the future, you don't just pull a "end of life" thing on us and make our box useless - planned obsolescence - unless we shell out yet more cash for the latest box?
    And, no, you can't fix that trust issue by just getting your marketing department to say "we care" a lot. Prove it. Make the box 100% functional without any connection to any remote server, so even 20 years' later, it still works. Without being forced to upgrade, without being hedged into any "walled gardens", without dependence on the Internet connection actually working, without the pointless invasion of privacy that you guys know exactly what my indicator brightness setting is, etc.
    I want a box that just works. I don't want a "box as a service".
    Indeed, servers cost money to run, so you're now forcing me to consider your business model. Do I buy the box and then the server stuff is for free? Or am I paying a monthly subscription to be able to control the brightness of a light on the front of a box?
    And even if you say "don't worry, it's free" then I've got to consider whether you're being realistic with your business model. Buying the box is a one-time cost, running servers is an on-going cost. Are you matching up your revenue to your costs properly here? And I have to consider this because, as mentioned, I need your servers to be still up and operational in 5 or 10 years' time, or the box I've bought stops working.
    Indeed, if you've not costed and priced this thing properly, then will I rather inevitably face being steamrollered into buying "box version 2.0" because, like, you've got to make some cash to pay for all of this, and seeing as you've created a box that traps me into your ecosystem - as it doesn't work without your Cloud servers - then you hold the cards to just "end of life" my current product at any point, then force me to buy "box version 2.0" and "box version 3.0", every time you're a bit short of cash for running your servers and need a cash injection.
    Also, your colour coded indicator? What if someone's colour blind?
    Red and green, you say? Yeah, there's a type of colour blindness that'll make that impossible for them to see. Yes, there are different types of colour blindness. Have you even researched this topic at all, before you decided to put pretty lights on the box as the only method of knowing what it's doing?
    Consider, instead, a series of lights on the front of the box. One's red, one's green, one's blue, etc. in the same way as now. But each light is in a different position on the box, so if you can't discern colour differences, then you can still easily see what's what by which light is on. And then, being separate lights, you can actually put a little bit of text above each light to say "error", "charging", "charged" - so you don't need an instruction booklet to explain the colours, the indicator lights are clearly labelled for what they mean.
    "We're good with software"?
    Yeah, you don't make that determination. We do. And don't have the marketing department tell us "we care" either. You don't make that determination. We do.
    Tell us about your products, your services, your qualifications and all that. But it's us who tell you whether you're any good at what you do, yeah?
    Yeah, Robert has to be nice to you here. But I don't have to be.
    And, by the way, I'm not against the product or what you're doing, but I'm simply interested to see that the hardware that's out there to power this "revolution" is actually good, is well thought out, is future-proof, is not a "walled garden" scam, etc. because I want this revolution to happen and be long lasting and mainstream. I'm being super critical, so you get this exactly right - if you possess enough wisdom to listen to the people who you actually need to convince to sell your product in the first place.

      I agree 100%. They are conning the buyers that this cloud connectivity is a plus, but it's really a huge negative.
      They all want to be the toll master where you need a continuous subscription to use any of this.
      You are screwed if they go bust, get bought, or just decide to change their business focus.
      Unless there's an open or industry standard, these companies are all building walled gardens to trap you.

      they said it's a gimmick, but getting app control for when you are not next to the car pretty much has to go via some sort of remote server. and if you are next to the car you don't need any sort of app. once it can be remote controlled, (and i'm skeptical about almost all smart home systems) then you have the ability to link it to live co2 intensity of the grid and price.. which is valuable.

      Well, the brag is in the latency not the LEDs changing. Important to see the benefit offered here, which is giving the grid the flexibility to monitor demand in realtime. This is the biggest blocker to mass adoption, and that's why connected devices are not only important, they are an absolute must. You're right in saying LEDs changing are not something you care about, and that will indeed go from the phone to the charger very shortly, but the ability to tune consumption up and down in real time is extremely powerful, and will in the future enable for example en mass distributed energy storage via V2G.

      @@mralistair737 True, but there's no choice. A cloud or die mentality takes away my choice. Since all the products in this category work roughly the same way, I have no choice. If you're buying for ease of use or green credentials, say goodbye to your privacy.

      This is sort of the point of the fully charged PLUS channel, where they can talk to people about their products etc in more one-to-one detail / showcase style. the main channel doesn't do this as it's a bit niche.

    Odd the only company not to send me a unit for review. Keep telling me it's being sent... still has not arrived... Every other company has been happy to send one for a fair UNPAID review. It seems unless it's a paid advert they are not interested.

      @Hypervolt no payment was received for any of the reviews on my channel, I count myself as a journalist, the only thing indra sent me was a unit free of charge like everyone else who I did a review of. Hypervolt you contacted me in May offering me a unit to review... however unlike your competition you haven't sent it. Everyone has the same terms of a level playing field. i'm more than happy to review any charging unit, but I won't accept payment in return for a favourable review, and it's important my audience can trust my reviews as completely impartial

I've watched your videos, and I can say I've always found them very informative and helpful, and particularly as some aspects of EV adoption can still be quite tricky.

      Everything here is new, and maybe not all of it groundbreaking, but a lot of the features are a lot more fine-tuned, easier to access and use, more robust, have more variety to them. Even with scheduled charging, you can have any number of schedules you like, easily combine them with solar, and so on. Zappi is a great product with a lot of cool features, but there are things we can offer you that no other product can in many respects, and best as always is to ask other customers.

    Great to see smarter and efficient charging options for the changing landscape that is energy. Homes are energy producers as well as users today and that will only increase in the future as they will no longer just consume energy from the grid, but be the new type of grid system.

    I'll probably be hanged for this, but has FC sold its soul recently? The original premise was to be free of this type of paid advertisement, and as a result be independent and impartial.
    I understand paid advertisement is a necessary evil for channels nowadays, but following on from EV Nick's comment, their selection criteria should perhaps be a little more discerning. Also, I'm happy my 'dumb' Rolec charger will carry on working, even when my patchy broadband decides to go down again.

      This is perhaps a very very unfair comment. As the industry's highest rated brand, we offer you 50 times the product Rolec ever will. We completely understand there are ways in which it doesn't suit your taste or needs, or perhaps indeed you are not interested in a smart charger. That's completely fine, but it's not ok to dismiss the work of hundreds of people working so hard to build a company. One that is one of the most popular in the market, one of its best sellers, and the one with the best reviews, support, and services, as voted by customers not ourselves.

      @@hypervoltev So not just happy with trying to dig out other RUclipsrs, you're now trying to compare your product to something which was designed and manufactured 5-6 years ago. I would say that's the very definition of unfair. Fifty times the product Rolec is, how is that measured?
      If you read my comment again, my point (which I thought I made quite clearly) is the recent increase and perhaps reliance on paid promotion content by FC. As I said, I understand channels need to do this, but there are more discreet and elegant ways to do this.
      I don't remember insulting your product.or the people that work at your organisation, but judged by your comments elsewhere, there seems to be a common thread of defensiveness emerging.
      You mention your product is highly rated,.and I don't dispute that, but perhaps you need to put the same effort into how you communicate with the general public as you do with your product.

      I agree with your comments Joe and like you say they are a part of all channels now. I dont mind them really as you get to find out about different products that I might be interested in but I wish they were a bit more in-depth and harder questions were asked. They do help support the channel too. We can all just not watch these videos if we don't want to I suppose.

    What a weird video. It's essentially a really awkward advert for a product that solves a problem that doesn't really exist for most people charging at home. Not sure why Robert was gushing like a schoolgirl over this. All quite odd.

      This is in fact the largest problem with mass adoption, so saying it doesn't exist unfortunately won't make it go away. For example, energy companies incentivise EV charging to happen at night, from 00:30 to 4:30AM. What happens when millions of EVs charge at that particular time? Won't that be the peak time? Even OZEV regulations are speculating the need for varied scheduling and automated management, and there's a long arduous journey ahead of many things to figure out, by ourselves and other companies in this industry, to make it all work when 30 million people will be driving EVs.

      @@hypervoltev I doubt we’ll get to that stage. Firstly a vast percentage of the population won’t be able to charge at home, due to lack of private off-street parking. You know, like in the big cities. Then if it was getting close to the point where all cars were being plugged in simultaneously at 00.30, then the cheap overnight rate would be taken away anyway and thus removing that problem. We also would have upgraded the supply infrastructure to support that scenario by the time those uptake volumes have been reached - localised capacitive storage, home battery cells etc etc. Also, by that stage battery tech would be greatly improved so most cars won’t be charging regularly anyway. If you get to 400/500 miles per charge, then most cars will only need topping up weekly or even less frequently.

      ​@@GingerPiston While we would hope you are right and the problem would be simpler, our partners that do manage the grid are working hard with us and other companies alike to find solutions. At the end of the day fast solutions are about cost, and software is simply cheaper than what you are suggesting will be deployed at large scale. Some customers can afford batteries, and a sophisticated almost grid independent setup, most cannot simple because of the price, and this is where a more cost efficient solution needs to come in.

      It's a problem that doesn't exist *yet*, because adoption is still low.
      But big players like Shell are investing big in this area, because they expect it to be necessary. Look forward to tariffs where cheap electricity comes at totally unpredictable times, but your devices are able to respond to that by-the-second price. Tell your car/charger "only charge when the cost is below x" or "I need 100 miles or range tomorrow. Go cheap at first but raise your threshold if necessary". Same for home heating etc.

    I like the look of that Hypervolt charger. It seems to be nicely low profile and with it being mounted on a door like your demonstration unit here, that could be a good solution for those of us who live in terraced houses and can't have a bulky unit that sticks out of a wall to block a foot path.

    Good to see "Fully Charged" promoting a British designed and built product. When I first saw it, I expected it to be another Chinese import. Well done guys and I hope you sell massive numbers of them. Replies to this video would suggest that most people do not see the way charging EV's needs to go. By scheduling when you need a certain amount of charge in a car for a certain time, intellegent load balancing will allow local grid capacity to be used to its design limits. Think of the near future guys.

      Oh and I'm buying one for my daughters new build house that hasn't got one installed as standard. After asking why it isn't installed, they are grudgingly installing the cable to the outer wall! All houses should have one along with a few PV panels on the roof. Maybe we wouldn't need as many power stations if all houses had them.

      ​@@danboabes Our company has people from all kinds of backgrounds, whether ethnic, religious and so on. Inclusivity is one of our most important values, our team is fortunately very diverse, and from all over the world. A vast majority of our engineering team is British, but not everyone, and that's certainly not a criteria. A company is the sum of its people, not just one person in any respect, and Hypervolt is a the work of hundreds of committed staff that work day and night to constantly improve what we have to offer.
      However, this is a British product, it is made in Britain, and it wouldn't likely be easily possible to make it outside Britain, or without the help of dozens of excellent local suppliers, very talented engineerings, the UK government working hard to accelerate the transition to EV, and a lot of other elements. There is a longstanding tradition of engineering excellence in Britain we are humbly trying to perpetuate over the years to come, and offer the consumer the choice to buy a compelling, affordable, locally made product with excellent local support, as opposed to equipment manufactured only for the sake of cost and profits somewhere far away.

    This is all very nice and fancy with all the smarts in a lot of these EV chargers, but a major concern (at least for me) is simply what if this company goes bust and shuts down the servers?
    I keep asking this question and no one seems to be addressing it. Proprietary API's, non-standard protocols, etc... so I suspect that if the servers are shut down a lot of people will find a nasty surprise.
    On the plus side, most of this units use COTS hardware for the "brains" like raspberry pi or beagle boards, or something else on those lines so I suppose one could develop some custom stuff for it in time.
    Would be nice to see the channel starting to ask this question when promoting this products.

    How does it integrate with batteries like the Powerwall? I've got a Zappi but it kind of integrates poorly with batteries. Would be nice if you could do boosts from just the battery, so similar to solar behaviour but using the battery instead.

      Hi James, you need to get a CT sensor for the battery. Then you can set it to either preserve the battery charge or drain the battery to charge the car. I set it to the former so that we can save the battery charge for the house in the evening.

    I have a Wallbox pulse 2. Small, has a light ring around it telling you what it’s doing. The app is really smart with scheduling and WiFi. Alexa would be nice, but personally, I’ve set my schedule and then don’t ever touch the settings. Plug in and charge

    My sympathy for the guy who was a bit terrified. Robert seems quite relaxed but being filmed can be stressful for the unprepared. The concept of waiting until the grid is green is a nice one although I think most users would have chosen a green supplier in the first place and would be more interested in price variations. I imagine Hypervolt would be thinking of that as a next innovation but that might mean changing supplier. Unfortunately Ecotricity don't do variable rates so neither would actually work for me, It's already 24/7 green and there's no off peak or power surplus discount. Being able to go to red alert is a bonus though.

    I have a Zappi charger and I can schedule a charge on the app. There is also a display that shows when it is charging. It doesn't have a pretty light or (as far as I know) work with alexa though

      Yes, zappi does everything stated on this video and more and has done for years. It’s also already doing grid and DNO flexibility, this is not new. I’m baffled by the “innovation” talk… seems the new thing is Alexa .. 🧐

      ​@@mattyt6722 This is not accurate, Zappi does offer you a compelling product, but none of the features described here! Load management at houselevel is something Zappi does offer, and we do as well, but it doesn't have anything to do with the country wide grid level balancing we are hoping to achieve. This is a pretty massive undertaking, and we work with DNOs around the world in fact to bring this solution to market, combine it with V2G and a lot of other things. Zappi is a great piece of kit no doubt, but its software is in no way comparable, because as companies we simply have a different focus. If you're happy with your Zappi you should be, it's a great British product and we can only hope companies that pay taxes to HMRC continue to be the ones that succeed over cheaper imports from the far East!

      Actually, Zappi does have different light colours for different states. I'm not sure why they made such a big deal of this in the Hypervolt. This is pretty standard. The other massive advantage of Zappi is the ability to set different ways of charging: fast, eco and eco+. The latter adjusts the charging power according to the available solar power. This maximises self consumption of solar power which I think is a game changer. It also can be integrated with a battery so that you can adjust whether you want to save the battery charge or drain it to charge the car. These are really useful features to maximise the use of renewable energy. Hypervolt seems to be very gimmicky.

    I'd be interested to know what the ultimate plan is with the grid management. If the DNO requests a reduction in load on a given street from Hypervolt, it wont have any meaningful impact unless HyperVolt have the monopoly on EVSE in that area. I'd have thought it should be down to the DNO to provide the management backend, and a future requirement for all EVSE manufacturers to read from and comply with that data. Hypervolt have absolutely the right idea, but the mechanisms surely need to be applied across the industry.

      it doesn't need to be a monopoly.. if you have a lot of people.. even a lot of companies like hypervolt who give the people the option to say "stop charging when carbon intensity is high. or "when supply is limited" (which are very overlapping times) then this is powerful.. even control over 1% of demand could make a huge difference to generators efficiency. ultimately this sort of tech will also make live variable pricing much easier to use and implement.

      Octopus offer a lower rate (Intelligent Octopus) for charges capable of dynamic control for cheaper rates, which is a proxy for load. So a mix of carrot and stick will get the customers moving to suppliers who offer it and leave behind those that don't. So you are correct in that it is not a HyperVolt only 'invention' but a technology standard supported by (some) energy suppliers reacting to information from National Grid. All a bit loose at the moment, but can't be too hard to at least get energy suppliers to sign up to support it.

      The cable tucked away is certainly a design preference, but indeed an expensive one, as a Hypervolt is half the price of an Andersen. That being said, through the apps, dashboards and options, we can certainly offer a much more compelling feature rich end user experience than the A2 in multiple respects.

      Same as what will happen with other companies of course. The only difference is Hypervolt is the ONLY profitable company in the industry, one of the largest, as well as the fastest growing. In the very unlikely event of a bankruptcy, we'd still honour cloud services until the products are end of life.

      The servers are AWS they said... so that's amazon and half the web gone. new firms going out of business is a legitimate concern but hopefully this comes with some sort of alternative protocol that could be used.. (like google home or similar)... or a guarenteed lifetime. But if they wound down, it'd cost them pennies to keep the existing system working for years. it's not like they are moving much data at all.

We would indeed, in the unlikely event of a bankruptcy, be required to honour cloud services until end of product life(e.g until the charger is old and toast, years and years down the line). Cloud bills are 0.0001% of our costs, or something extremely trivial. That being said, Hypervolt is the industry's only profitable company, one of its largest, as well as the fastest growing. Statistically and economically speaking, that makes us the least likely to shut our doors, and we certainly work extremely hard to make that true.

Anyway, the perpetual insistence of companies to relay solely on cloud infrastructure for all functionality (even when it makes no sense), will forever turn many people away from this. I have no issue with innovating through software, but the Pi built into this platform is quite capable of providing most of the functionality described without requiring yet another web platform, that people have to sacrifice their personal info to.

But to invest in a contactor in a box with a Raspberry Pi and neat software, I think this all needs to be underpinned by a national if not international standard. Preferably open. I'm sure you're working on such, but until a standard is in place and adopted by industry, siloed technology will always be niche and risky for consumers. Even Tesla have now adopted CCS.

      Plays nice with my solar, connects to octopus agile and changed LED colour depending on charge setting … I’m baffled. Must be an ad

It's great hardware no doubt, and it's another British manufacturer that will hopefully succeed over Chnese imports, but to say it offers the same thing isn't accurate, as we have a very different focus to Zappi, and in saying that we mean in no way to content the value their bring to the market.

      @@mattyt6722 Sian, very happy to hear you love your Zappi! Everything we say here is absolutely true, Zappi requires a manual firmware upgrade, Hypervolt does not. Zappi does load balancing it doesn't do grid balancing, which are very different things. There are a lot of things Hypervolt offer that Zappi does not, and we are almost £200 cheaper as well. Important to distinguish between the specifics of functionality, Hypervolt firmware upgrades require no manual user action and don't take 40 minutes, they are seamlessly done over the air automatically.

    Interesting. I'd like to work with my solar system to offload excess solar energy to the car. This is because locally they are virtually scrapping the tariff we get paid for our excess solar. So I'd like to use that to charge the car when I'm generating and stop if the sun goes in.

      My Hypervolt 2.0 is working with my Solar PV Array 5.2kW to off load excess energy along with iBoost +, set the settings for ampage 6A and Eco Mode charging at 1.4kW using Free Solar Energy or utilise setting for solar charging with Grid at 7kW.... 10% charge on EQA in 4 hours of free sun solar energy when the car is just sitting parked up.

    Hard to argue this is the "smartest way to charge" when it has no way of integrating with rooftop solar. Zappi does this seamlessly. Mine is currently feeding my Model 3 with 5 kW from our rooftop solar.

    I must be missing something, what is that company’s USP? Doesn’t seem to be software or integration the hardware as most companies have that and the more challenging bit is getting the third party information from the likes of the grid, met offices, motorway network etc. The kept talking about speed of response but those sort of time frames will be the norm with 5G & IoT devices, and in consumer use probably not even a major issue. I just don’t see any reason why I’d investigate further, let alone long list them.

      @Stephen Not quite the case, no other company will offer you a similar responsive or latency, or depth of features, or ease of use. There are other compelling propositions out there for sure, but we make everything in house, integrated software and hardware, which not many do, and certainly not to the same degree. That speed of response is absolutely critical for grid monitoring, and it transcends very very far beyond simply using a 5G connection for example. While those may become standard in the future, writing software to keep those kind of performances consistent is an absolutely huge undertaking, and any experienced programmer would likely confirm real time distributed systems are one of the most complicated things to get working correctly in computer science, not to mention real time machine learning models based on those systems.
      Even ignoring the "background features" that will prove more valuable over time rather than immediately, Hypervolt is still the most affordable premium charger, offers you a compelling design, it is the industry's highest rated product and service, and one of the most popular products in the UK, and other countries as well. There's only so much we can cover in a 12 minute video, and there are IP risks to giving away too much detail about certain features for sure, but without a doubt we can offer you one of the best value for money chargers out there if you're after a truly smart feature rich unit, and a great, local service experience, with a British company.

    At this time of year I'm charging lithium-ion batteries most days, I have three chargers, two are like the Hypervolt in that they show one colour for charging, another for fully charged (but like most chargers red is charging, green is fully charged), PITA as I have no idea how much charge is in the batteries, the third charger has LEDS which give an indication (within 20%) of charge. So I'd be more interested when (if) Hypervolt have v2 which gives indication of SoC on the box.

      Self Use or reduce Export Control value, my house load is balanced when Hypervolt 2.0 and iBoost + are working... not drawing from Grid. Depends on size of Solar PV Array. Minimum is 1.4kW at 6A for Solar to activate the Hypervolt... for charging.

    I couldn't work out what was so special about this charger, apart from the fact it responds in 50mS and might have more functionality in the future.
    On a different point, it was a shame that the sound on this piece didn't come up to your usual high standard. Noisy reverberant studio, badly mixed, voices at different levels and lack of clarity. I didn't understand the last part at all, though you appeared to be enjoying yourself.

    The bit about enabling local grid operators to control charging sounds good but until you can get this implemented in every charger it will have minimal effect. Other than that just gimicks like Alexa.

      why would you need EVERY charger to do this? when the grid is in a bottle neck or oversupply taking a small amount of demand down can make a big difference, you dont need everyone in the country to switch off everything. letting people schedule charges also means people will more naturally move to times of low demand anyway.

    The electric cord becomes very stiff in sub-zero weather, which means you could never wrap it around the charger like that as he demonstrates.

    EPIC FAIL!!
    Colour is a really bad way to make your only non-app based comms
    There are millions of colourblind people who won’t be able to engage with this kit due to this limitation and it’s board line disability discrimination!?
    Very disappointing when companies make this fundamental error in their product or service design

      Colours are easily changeable, and colour blindness is something we are planning to very soon address(before end of the year). Right now we are simply consistent with the LED patterns on most cars, however we will allow people of various variations of colour blindness to pick a more appropriate light pattern to suit their needs. Great argument, and we thought the same!

      @@anstroth it probably depends what region of the world you’re in, but in the UK companies are required to make products and services reasonable inclusive and I’d suggest being a common issue catering for those with colourblindness is reasonable and from their reply it looks like it has at least been part of their thinking which is great!

    Yes, the cloud is lovely for ease of use....But the cloud is just all of your data running on someone else's computer.
    At least let me have access to that data how I want it!
    I want a local API/MQTT integration. I have set up a home automation system that doesn't need hundreds of apps on my phone - each doing something different. It doesnt need me to scream a specific phrase at an Alexa or google home, I've just got a dashboard that tracks everything for me and automations that fire when needed hosted on my own computer in my own house.
    Unless I am able to tie the charger into that (via MQTT or a simple webhook or API) then I'm not interested.
    I love the possibilities/design/cost of hypervolt. But unless it can let me see my data how I want to see it, without opening an app on my phone or screaming at a cloud based voice assistant - I wont be getting it.
    It's looking more and more like I'll have to get OpenEVSE.
    Considering Hypervolt is run by 'Software people' and they like the idea of using other people's APIs, its a real shame they dont have their own... Oh well.

      The Solar update was only last week based on the facebook groups?
      Is there any guidance on how MQTT is implemented on your site? I've checked the support pages and all blank?
      I asked a local installer if they fit Hypervolts and they said yes but shortly after I told them to put it on the backburner until I worked out if there's any local links for my home setup.
      I'm hoping for being able to control brightness of LEDs, Swap between timed/solar/off etc, maybe enable party flashing via MQTT messages.
      Reply once OIs are up on your support pages (dont think you can provide links in Ytube comments?) and you'll have another device registered within the next month or two (the fitter's backlog depending).

    In Australia and the USA 40% of the grid is home needs.
    With rooftop solar pv 6.6kw, 33kwh the grid can take in 40% and reduce the industry power need to 20%.
    The money will be in the grid.
    Daily drives are only 7kwh, ezi pezi daily top up.
    Home over night ezi pezi 8kwh need.
    EV car battery 100kwh, huge capacity for the few long drives.
    The automatic plug in is the 'killer gizmo'.
    Fast charging will get better BUT the 24/7 plugged in trading power with the grid and making money.
    Forget the hay and oats feeding
    Forget 50kg of inflammable petroleum every 10 days into the tank.
    All petroleum will be a strategic military reserve so tanks can drive to Putin's children killing things.
    Naval actions are possible.

    I have an Electrify America charger (j1772 EVSE), looks like it was designed for Bluetooth even has a Bluetooth indicator light, but does none of that, no timer, not even an on-off button, but it does have s color coded LED ring.
    Being able to charge how much you want and when you want could help your battery health. When you get home delaying charging to let the battery cool down % not charging to 100% when you don't need it.

      It's a good idea to look for a safety certification, might be good for insurance in the unlikely event of a catastrophe.
      Mine was the cheapest UL listed I could find. Some are made with UL listed parts it's not the same as an overall UL certification (underwriters laboratory, USA)

    Great costume - - 10 years and 4 stone ago.
    This software is one of the reasons I sold my Fiat 500e. Fiat had turned the software off and charging was always to 100% and started right now rather than 2:00 AM. Smart house/phone interface is most excellent.

      I think I agree, FCA/Fiat management had internal conflicts, like most oems. I hate fees, even worse no option of using the app after 3 years. Shaver Chrysler in thousand oaks California was terrible, they're supposed to provide free charging, they did, sometimes. They frequently iced the charging stations, they were frequently broken, sometimes had a Fiat parked, done charging. They made a pretty good car, with a lot of help from Bosch. If they had a small battery upgrade it would have made a huge difference.

    It's wider than my rolec, and the space the rolec fits into. the rolec app doesn't work but don't need it, the car is more reliable. All the apps are gimmicky. Not bothered about Alexa

      The car doesn't offer you anywhere the flexibility a Hypervolt can, or other products, and indeed if you don't need it, that's absolutely fair. But comparing a product where the app never works with a Hypervolt is a little bit unfair, in the sense that we do put in huge work to constantly improving our app and providing a first class user experience, and building in new features every week. You might find an app that does work can come in handy for a great number of things, whether it's locking your charger, accessing cheaper energy, integrating it with solar panels in the future, sharing chargers with friends and family, and so on, are all pretty useful software features for most of our users.

      @@hypervoltev hi Hypervolk first a confession, I misread the title, I read smartest as smallest. My apologies. The rolec app doesn't connect as there is a lack of mobile signal (urban black spot) so I rely on the car and its just set to charge from 0030 when it's cheap. It's never failed. It's a simple solution. If in the future we move and have a need for a smarter charger with more functions I'll look you guys up. All the best to you and your team.
