They disrupted public order and endangered the lives of lots of innocent people with their stupid feud over money, power and pride so the Prince was right to show up in battle gear and threaten the idiots fighting each other with death if they didn't cut it out.
It probably kind of is, given this is the third time a brawl like this has happened. It’s also possible smaller events occurred in between the three big ones.
@ I know!!😂🤣they are all just ready to go in a moments notice, right at the lords word. Shakespeare never tells us what the origin of the feud was, but it must be serious!
We watched this movie in high school and I remember thinking Juliet was really pretty. It was weird to realise she would have been in her mid to late forties by the time we saw the film and now she's in her seventies. I think she was seventeen when the movie was made.

Servants wore uniforms in the livery of those they served - the Capulets are in yellow and red, for example. Livery provided a model for military uniforms, though these did not start to become common until a century and a half later - roughly from the 1660s onward. Even then, initially officers did not wear them as they associated uniforms with the livery of servants.
I always wondered, if he is the Prince, where is the King? Is the Prince only in charge of a small area designated by the King? Would the Kinggg be asking the Prince what the heck is going on in his area?
Rulers come in many shapes. Kings, Grand Dukes and Grand Princes and also Princes can all be sovereigns at least in their own life time. This is a city state ruled by a prince.
Although violent this street fight between the feuding families was actually tame compared to how the warring Irish & Scottish clans would use broadswords & axes to slaughter each other in savage internecine battles back during the same period.
@@girlgarde Yes, true. Though what made the feuding Irish & Scots of that era so scary was their size & ferocity. Another reason why they were so hard to defeat & greatly valued as mercenaries on the European Continent. Using swords & axes to hack through opposing pike formations was one of their specialties, these insane forlorn hope type attacks that very very few others were crazy & suicidal enough to volunteer for. Back then the Irish & Scots were born for savage warfare, it came naturally to them, was seemingly hardwired into their genes, & it was an endeavor that they pursued with a visceral zeal & often relished. Can never get over how unique Michael York's voice is. A great choice for Tybalt IMO.
My GOD. He is hot as hell...
I thought that was him, but wasn't sure!
Watching this I can't help but feel John Leguizamo did an impression in Romeo + Juliet.
Alan Rickman also did a perfect job
Another version’s Tybalt is played by Alan Rickman and now I’m conflicted 😂
When the Prince shows up in battle gear to break up a fight between two families, that's a sign that they really crossed the line.
They disrupted public order and endangered the lives of lots of innocent people with their stupid feud over money, power and pride so the Prince was right to show up in battle gear and threaten the idiots fighting each other with death if they didn't cut it out.
That was the fanciest way I've ever heard someone say "I'm sick of your shit" lol
Prince showin up to the square like it’s a normal Tuesday.
It probably kind of is, given this is the third time a brawl like this has happened. It’s also possible smaller events occurred in between the three big ones.
He's probably used to it with how much beef the capulets and montagues have with each other
5:06 This scene always gets me. It's so commanding, he did a good job
4:13 "MY CABBAGES!!"
Haha, that was a good one and a nice reference XD lol.
I'm also a Last Airbender fan too btw.
JESUS I knew there was a big fight while reading the play in class but I didn’t realize how much it *e s c a l a t e d* to this point!
I'm no expert in emotional therapy, but I have a feeling that the Prince had enough of their shenanigans. 🤣🤣🤣
Three civil brawls on this scale would probably get on the nerves, especially when borne of merely an airy word🫤
@@acidz0037 The houses seem to have small private armies. The way the Capulets have an arsenal of edged weapons laid out on a long table...

but why do it sound like this dude is singing "down to the market square!" at 3:23 😂
I never knew Michael York did an R&J piece.
Picked up his voice immediately....good ole 'Logan!'
I think its clear though the Capulets started the quarrel. The smugness vs the humility of the montague😊

Tybalt was a real scumbag here and throughout the movie, wasn't he? From the start, I hated that piece of crap and wanted him to get his.
Well he is a villain of the play.
Tybalt makes me feel luxury as no one does 😂
He is kind of the bad guy...
Although violent this street fight between the feuding families was actually tame compared to how the warring Irish & Scottish clans would use broadswords & axes to slaughter each other in savage internecine battles back during the same period.
Well, the two feuding families here weren't on an open battlefield, they were having a street fight with swords and fists.

I wish some of the lines were read slower..it’s like speed acting to me.
