In other versions of Romeo and Juliet, the Capulets wear red while the Montagues wear blue. In this film, it is the opposite.

With the fact they had been fighting for so long and were bitter enemies… it makes you wonder what the families feud was even about to begin with…

Asking if cowardice is holding you back while running away then hiding for a sneak attack lol

Aside from hypocrisy, he’s trying to make him blind with rage, mocking Romeo calling him a coward when he killed Mercutio who stepped into to help Romeo. Basically trying to make him angry like him being scared is what led to Mercutio’s death.

Nothing will ever surpass Zeffirelli's street brawl in the 1968 movie.

Either thou or I, or both, must go with him.

One of the best parts of the movie, Romeo clearly had the upper hand in this fight he was a better fighter than his best friend.

Which is a departure from the text because Tybalt is supposed to be one of the most skillful swordsmen of Verona.

@@DUBS606 I oddly like that aspect. From what I read in that case It can be seen as Romeo willing by sheer luck, but in this version, it adds a detail as to why Romeo would run.
If he was just as skilled a swordsman as Tybalt, then that would mean he’d have all the more reason to run.

@@Reviewer2016 I do like how it changes it. I used this scene for my classes to have students compare different acting and direction choices between the same scene

That is what Tybalt deserves for killing Mercutio
