Aside from hypocrisy, he’s trying to make him blind with rage, mocking Romeo calling him a coward when he killed Mercutio who stepped into to help Romeo. Basically trying to make him angry like him being scared is what led to Mercutio’s death.
@@DUBS606 I oddly like that aspect. From what I read in that case It can be seen as Romeo willing by sheer luck, but in this version, it adds a detail as to why Romeo would run. If he was just as skilled a swordsman as Tybalt, then that would mean he’d have all the more reason to run.

In other versions of Romeo and Juliet, the Capulets wear red while the Montagues wear blue. In this film, it is the opposite.

One of the best parts of the movie, Romeo clearly had the upper hand in this fight he was a better fighter than his best friend.
mercutio was also a good fighter it’s because romeo got in his way and boom! stabbed him
Which is a departure from the text because Tybalt is supposed to be one of the most skillful swordsmen of Verona.
