    What makes your videos a breath of fresh air, is that you are not aiming for bare bones travel- realistic numbers, not always eating at street food vendors- I like that your are generous and humble- after travelling to 120 countries, it is nice to treat yourself while on the road-all the best

    Hi Gabriel, traveling in the sacred monkey forest was incredible. The monkeys are so revered in Bali in song and dance. Bali's reasonable food and accommodations make it a major travel destination along with balmy weather and beautiful beaches it has many beautiful attractions. I know you're eating all that food and with all that walking and activity you've built up a big appetite.

    Good food, warm weather, beautiful accommodation , cheap massages… seems like my kind of place. I appreciate you sharing the prices and affordability factor. Travel has become so insanely expensive that affordability is now #1 on my list. I never even looked into Bali thinking it would be unaffordable. I am pleasantly surprised to learn it’s not the exorbitantly expensive destination I thought it was. Thanks again Gabriel for taking us along 😊😊

    Excellent video. My first trip to Bali was way back in 1993. Did a Circle the Pacific fare, $999.00 for SFO to Hong Kong, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore, Bali, Hawaii, SFO. Trip of a life time, first time to Asia. Couldn't believe how cheap Bali was & still very nice. Stayed in Kuta for a few days, $5.00 a nite, included breakfast brought to your room. Ubud was my favorite, simply magical! Rode over to Singaraja to swim with the dolphins, never happened, but the ride over was amazing. I had no idea what the true color green was until I was in the mountains of Bali. Never saw green like that again. Yes, you are right about a real Thai Massage, they come close to hurting. In Chiang Mai now, massage go for around 250 Baht ($5.50) from the local shops around town, not the real Thai Massage, but they do not hurt you. Yes, alway tip. Think I stayed an extra 5 days in Bali, back in those days no problem or cost in changing your flights around. Thailand is still my favorite, where we spend the winters. Looking forward to more of Bali, you capture it perfectly!

    The majority of Indonesians are bilingual (local language + bahasa Indonesia), but many are also at least trilingual (plus English/Chinese/another local language). English is taught since elementary school, but most have passive English and are too afraid/shy to speak it. The Balinese language have a lot of similarities with the Javanese language. Pro tip: the Indonesian letter C is pronounced ‘ch’ as in ‘cheese’. So that dish at the end is pronounced ‘cham-poor’.
    Personally, as an Indonesian, i find Bali overrated and over priced. Tourism there is way too geared for foreigners and prices are 2x more expensive than most of Indonesia. Maybe it’s just that i like a more natural and less touristy place to visit. But glad you’re enjoying your time in Bali.

    You make me want to go back to those same exact spots in Bali! I totally hear you on tipping well for massages in certain countries. My sister and I traveled for a year, starting with Europe such as Greece, Italy, Spain… spots in between to SE Asia. I, myself, am not fond of massages, ha. But boy, was she in heaven for multiple, inexpensive one-hour massages in Vietnam, Thailand, and Philippines. She sometimes tipped on the last day of each country a day’s wage. Sadly enough, when we stayed at this hotel in Manila, her masseuse said some customers do not tip 😮

However when a service tax started most people didn't like it. I can assure you that it is only a few business that past this on to staff. Most workers are paid pittance and a lot in hospitality are either school kids or uni students that are actually receiving no pay at all. It's part of an apprenticeship so to speak. In the bars they do a year free.Your information on Bali Hindu also may be further expanded if you find out who the charma people where. I think they originated from Vietnam. As Bali's beliefs are very different in many ways from India keep up good work.

    There is one school of thought that contribute more for the one message you happen to chance, the other is that give the therapist the current market value (note it varies from 70000 to 110000). It's a basic service- very few know how to do a realignment of your spine or do minor neck adjustment- which is a need for those who happen to hunch behind a laptop for a couple of hours. However that being said, it may well be about feeling good to splash the cash, and for those with a decent following, build ethical value as a philanthropist (ESG- environmental, social, governance in the channel) and grow.

These are tourist prices in tourist places. Fine for a 2 week holiday, but you would need to seek out cheaper places if you were staying or travelling for a longer period of time. Maybe its Americans who think this is cheap? Americans seem to pay very high prices back home in the USA, but they tell me get much higher salaries.

    The monkey forest looked very interesting for a walk around and Ubud generally looked better than Kuta.
    That heavy "croissant" looked dodgy.
    The "four hand" massage for 190,000 Rupiah that was advertised on the price list at 19:52 would be crazy.

    Bali can be as expensive or inexpensive as one wants it to be, I should think.
    Bali is both a city and a county.
    The whole AREA of Bali, is HUGE, though, larger than any other city of town on that island, yes?
    😄 Good for you, kicking off this video with FOOD! We Foodies love to see what other people eat. 😄
    Big Question: >>> How to you find your hotels and accommodations so nicely?
    HOW DO YOU LUCK OUT SO OFTEN, in terms of prices, where you stay?

      @GabrielTravelerVideos  2 года назад

      I find most of my accommodation on booking.com, occasionally on airbnb or agoda.

    I wonder if the recent ban on unmarried couples staying together in Bali is reducing tourism too? They’re trying to clear up the extramerital sex ban rule to not deter tourism, but maybe it’s not enough since the law still stands?

      what does it mean..no girls for tourists or..

    • @jeanii_d
      @jeanii_d 2 года назад +1

      That law doesn't come into effect for another three years. It's being said that it will not apply to tourists as family members are the ones who need to 'report' the pre-marital sexual activity. Others are saying that it's a political stunt and largely won't be enforced as people will just be more discreet. Time will tell!
      Bali was devastated by the lack of tourism during the pandemic and is really only just bouncing back. Australia is one of their major sources of tourism and had closed borders for ages. Like many other places, Australia is experiencing a much higher cost of living and continually rising interest rates at the moment, and many people are being very cautious financially due to lost income during the pandemic, increasing mortgage repayments and Christmas etc. Many people and families simply can't afford to go on holiday - even to a relatively cheap destination like Bali. Tourism will pick up though. I hope so for the sake of the Balinese.

    Bali is very incredibly beautiful and affordable but not so for independant travelers as tour price are the same weither there are 1 or 6 people. And there are few buses. Otherwise, yes, Bali is totally amazing and probably has the best pools 🤩.
