The Verano shawl is suitable for the Intermediate level crocheter. In this tutorial, I'll explain the shawl's unique construction, and demonstrate how to crochet the set-up rows and initial triangle shape, as well as the two featured stitches and the decorative picot border.

I always love, love, LOVE when you do a mini version tutorial! It's so helpful to see/practice the pattern before jumping into the real deal. Thank you for spreading your joy with your positivity and wonderful patterns, videos and yarn!! 🤗💕🧶
Thank you so much! I love that you've found a use for the miniature versions.
It's a gorgeous shawl. The mini shawl swatch makes a cute shawl for a doll.
It totally would!
First glance I thought this was a knitted shawl. Then I realized it was crochet and it made my heart happy. Downloaded it right away. Such a pretty pattern. 💓

I simply adore this shawl!!! And that sweater!!! I want to dive into that pattern and crochet away, alas, I completed knitting my first left handed cowl and next week I've got wrist surgery, so I'm not going to start anything today, just practice more continental stitches. I wish you a gorgeous day. Thank you for bringing sunshine into my cloudy day.
You're welcome. Take care of yourself!
Love your Pebble top!! The shawl is beautiful too but the Pebble top is on my list of must haves for myself.

As usual, love, love, love it! I can't wait to start it. I actually already have the yarn for it and was wondering what to make with it. Now I know. Thanks Chandi, great tutorial again. And I love your sweater, is it one of your patterns too? If so which one please? Have a fabulous weekend! 💕
Glad you like it. The sweater I'm wearing at the beginning is the Pebbled sweater: www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/pebbled.html
Oh yes, I downloaded that one too. Love it, thank you
Another beauty. Thank you Chandi. Love your sweater too, is there a pattern available? Happy weekend.

Such a beautiful pattern. 😁 i just want to ask, what brand crochet hooks do you use? Thank you.
Thank you! I use Susan Bates because they have short necks.
Great pattern and tutorial love watching you. Do you have a pattern for that ute sweater you have on in this video?

Hallo Chandi
I'm watching you from Poland, I love your channel ❤
, I don't really understand picking stitches in a crochet shawl , I just pick out the stitches and crochet them?Best regards and lots of sunshine
I think we're referring to the same thing. So you're all good. 💕
@@ExpressionFiberArts thank you ☺️
Hello! Thank you for the beautiful work you do! I started this as soon as I found it! Perfect gift for my MIL. Were all the stitch counts checked and updated? I get to row 5 of the moss stitch and I can’t get my stitch count to match row 5 and on😫
Be sure that you have the most recent pattern by going to www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/verano.html and re-downloading the most recent version. Unfortunately, there were quite a few errata that made it through the review process on this pattern.
@@ExpressionFiberArts I do have the most recent one (3/21). I’m going to just keep going and see if it works out 😂
This is lovely! Thank you! Is it possible to use fingering weight yarn or would it be too small? I have so much fingering weight that I need to use up!
The pattern is customizable, so you could just repeat sections to make it larger if the fingering-weight yarn doesn't give the size you'd like.
@@ExpressionFiberArts thank you!!! You are very generous with your time, videos and patterns!
What a stunning pattern! I have a gorgeous fingering weight yarn that I’m desperate to use for a Christmas present for my mum - it’s 75% merino/25% nylon. I only have 100g/425m of it. How could I adapt the pattern to the yarn?
I'm so glad you like it and want to make it as a Xmas gift.
The yarn that you're suggesting is a Fingering weight yarn compared to the Sport weight yarn that the sample used. Meaning your final dimensions will be smaller if you stick to the instructions as given in the pattern.
Make a swatch to see how your gauge looks with your lighter yarn and then based on that decide how many more repeats you will need to make to each section.
I hope this makes sense and is helpful. Please, let me know if you have more questions.
Have a nice day! 💕
Hi!!! Thank you so much for this pattern and video tutorial! I have questions. I don't have this yarn and I am too eager to wait for shipping, so I am trying to use another yarn to achieve similar results. It's thinner yarn, so I should make different sections longer I guess. More rows to achieve same size shawl. So I have question. Can you roughly measure each section and give me estimated width of them? For example the first triangle is originally 50 rows, but for me it's going to me lots more rows. Can you share how wide the different sections are, so I can do similar sized shawl? Hope this makes sense. Thank you!
You can calculate this yourself using the gauge information included in the pattern. The gauge in this pattern is 24 rows=4". Count the number of rows in each section of the pattern, and then divide that number by 24 before multiplying it by 4 to get the widths of each section. For example, if a section has 36 rows, divide 36 by 24 to get 1.5. Multiply 1.5 by 4" to get 6". That section as written in the pattern is 6" wide.
Hello Chandi! I love your channel. The top you are wearing in this video looks wonderful! Is there a pattern available for this top, too?
Thanks! If you're talking about the sweater right at the beginning, then yes! That's our Pebbled crochet sweater: www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/pebbled.html
@ExpressionFiberArts That’s it!Thank you!

Thanks so much, and welcome! I'm wearing our Pebbled sweater at the beginning of this video. You can find the pattern at www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/pebbled.html
This is a beautiful pattern, but I don't have the best quality hooks. Can you please let me know what hooks you use and where to get them from.
I just use Susan Bates metal hooks because I like the shorter necks. You can find those at most major crafting outlets and Amazon.
Beautiful!!!
Greek subtitle, please!;;
RUclips can auto-translate the captions for you. Turn CC on, and then click the Settings icon (the gear). Click on Subtitles/CC, and then to the right choose the language option. Select Auto-translate and then scroll down to choose Greek. That should work.
Would love to make this but takes up too much space to block. I have 18 blocking mats, but this project would require many more it seems. Would just laying out flat be sufficient?
Some people just block on towels on a flat surface, and pin their blocked piece to the towels. You could also steam block each half separately.
@@ExpressionFiberArts thanks for the blocking info. I'll make the shawl after I finish your gorgeous Pebble sweater I just ordered yarn for!
