So a government drone?
man this is too awesome try a bigger working model THAT'S freakin epic
cool
The plane was cool, but I really admire the planning and administration of all the worker bees.
Worker be #25 reporting for duty
At ease, we were more than willing. Unfortunately I was busy building my own planes and was only around to help for a hour or two in total.
Amazing work 🤩
U damm right
@@cooperthompson4850 worker bee #10390 ready for duty
Great. Now build an ultralight with 50 engines.
Diego, this suggestion will rain terror on Peter’s brain. By the time he’s finished, all but one brain cell will be left!
I feel like this is something he could pull off
The next generation ultralight, brought to you by Peter Sripol, The Ultra Heavy.
@@GrimReaping he can use tiny motors
@@mtmcommunity He should try to lift himself off the ground with like 1000 tiny woops
I'm amazed at how light these things are when they look so massive
Reminds me of the picture of army soldiers lifting a tank during WW2 (it was a rubber fake meant to deceive the Axis)
Foam and cardboard are not very dense. Get a giant bag of packing peanuts and you will be able to quantify it better, not the same but it will give an idea of how light something big can be
Sick project man! Love seeing big community builds like this :D
Oh hello there
@@damncat2793 yessirr
I love how he cuts between shots during the sponsorship so he doesn’t actually have to set up the solar bike
yes lol
context?
Oh
You know, for as large as that plane was, it crashed with dignity.
It was definitely a success for the situation.
That dignity ended around 16:31 though 😁
Looks like J is the fan of aerodynamics
To be honest, if the tail held a bit more firm (and had a little less nose weight) it might have gone across the field. :]
Edit: this was before I saw the second takeoff lol
@@WingofTech well u nailed it
I would like to see you revisit this. I know you did a lot of this on site, would like to see how much better it could be if you built it in sections at home and only had to attach the wings and tail at the event.
Awesome project, looks like everyone had a blast.
I know this comment is a bit late but hopefully you will see it Peter. Whenever I see your videos I always wish my dad was still alive to see them and this video was no different. Thank you for reminding me of the great times my father and I had with the aircraft industry. Keep up the good work!!!!!
I would have been so stressed with those take offs, and probably during the entire build 😂
Love Ur vids
@@Noah-lj2sg Can you read correctly? Euan or RR REIN would not have replied to ProjectAir's comment if they did not care. If you didn't care, you would have not replied either.
@ProjectAir I love your videos!!
Awesome
Vids!
Hi Peter,
It did fly, so give yourself a pat on the back. If you are contemplating a 100 motor plane, make it a biplane. The interplane struts should help keep the wings from warping.
That, or it would be better to use some more wooden construction. It wouldn't need to be super fancy, and not even official aircraft grade spruce, it just needs something stiffer per ounce than standard foamboard: basically _any_ high quality wood can be used as reinforcement. Even something really heavy like a hard maple could likely allow the use of a smaller and lighter wingspar, and even something really squishy like Balsa could give a lot more stiffness without necessarily adding a ton of weight
Technically, metal or composite would be helpful for the same reasons, but wood is cheaper, and WAY easier to assemble into complex shapes without expensive tools
I love how you inspire kids to use their time being creative. Unfortunately many schools aren’t competent as you. Thanks from a former 1979 member of the Bangkok Flying Club.
Whoever is flying the camera drone has alot of skill
U should make a plane that flaps like a bird
That would be so extremely difficult
My mom bought me a toy bird that it would flap his wings. This is at least 15 years ago but I’m trying to remember if it actually would lift off or not
@Richard Pena Mendoza I don’t think it would even be possible
@@BoredAmerican It already exists. But it would be nice to see Peter do his own take on this.
@@EvanMoon I had an elastic band powered bird toy when I was a kid and they flew great.
We shall call him Icarus as his wings melted by the heat of the sun.
Get ready for The Icarus MK ii at next years event!!!
Yeah totally. Icarus should be the next iteration. Dream to fly closer to the sun
Careful Icarus.
Leaves without wings
Amazing that it stayed aloft for as long as it did. Excellent footage too. Well done.
Great teamwork and time management on this shotgun project! Super fun.
If you ever do this again, try having the engines in a push-pull configuration to save room on the wings and create less drag.
Edit: Gotta love the giga chad in all caps
that and a biplane so that you need even LESS wingspan
@@TheGermanDude better yet a triplane
Better yet a pentaplane
I'd say just go all pusher props. Putting that many puller props along the leading edge means most of the airflow over the wing would be turbulent.
@@dariuspierce3678 Nah Broseph, make them wings into _giant heckin' gridfins_
"Gigachad" the plane, lol. It flew like a manta ray.
I really enjoyed this build and the flight! Was smiling all the time it took off and flew! Amazing project!
I love that THIS is what you’ve been doing😂
Well done Peter. You top the chart every time! Those kids will never forget this August afternoon of a lifetime.
Those kids will tell people they helped build a plane for Peter Sripol.
Question when is the next tiny house video ? Really enjoyed the last one
+1
Peter that's turned out to be a really good build definitely some factors that were tough to battle. I appreciate your determination you always make great inventions!!! Looking forward to seeing you again soon. It's very awesome you have all the volunteers to help out I'm sure they love being part of it.
The old wright bros trick, if it can't fly by itself, catapult it!
Do 100 digits, BUT as a bi-Wing. Wires and lightweight struts… more stable.
Mmmm biplane 😋
Yes, it has to be a 100 motor biplane!!! Something that would defeat the dreaded Red Baron!
Like Snoopy, your dog could fly it! Okay, too dangerous, I would never want to see your puppy get hurt but you could put a weighted analogue stuffed toy in it!
Aerobatics would be required so differential thrust might help.
@@texas66 red baron's was triplane
@@huseyinuguralacatli5064 Yes it was, but from the Peanuts comic strip Snoopy flew the Sopwith Camel. So if Snoopy had a Camel biplane with 100 motors, surely he could defeat the Red Baron.
The idea of a 100 motor RC aeroplane seems comical to me (but it would be fun to see someone build and fly) and since Peter has a dog that is a wing walker why not make his dog the pilot?
Since you mentioned it, a 100 motor triplane would be fun too!
Hey elons son I know you are the real one🦾
Thanks Peter for the awesome opportunity to work on this stupid but fun project and also thanks for those motors that you thought were burnt up even though they weren't 🌝
Loved the video, but this comment made my day. Recycling for the win :D
This is the first time I've come across one of your videos and I have to say that you sir are not only one heck of a RUclips creator but you know how to edit like a boss. Also, the ideas you come up with to make the camera shots makes even a random watcher click that subscribe button. You got my vote! Oh and your "About" page is perfectly said on what your goal is because your doing it. Keep up the good work.
thank you for this video. Im always amazed that if the size of rc model become larger than 4-5 meters its very difficult to bring them into the air. The structure has to be very strong, much stronger than with small size planes
Of course it crashed as far as possible from your location for recovery. I’d like to see this build again with better materials.
Well you know, better to walk to get to your plane than to run to avoid it eh
Awesome Project Peter! I'm glad I could be a part of it!
I think that’s the most graceful crash I have ever seen!
A very amazing project! Well done!
Hmm, really want some of those -ATF- FAA guy stickers now
"almost like a giant airplane crashing in real life"
me: Isn't that what I just watched?
awesome build peter! love the massive slow fliers. so cool looking. even if it is just for 60 seconds lol
1994 Fairchild Air Force Base B-52 went down the same way.
Don't be disappointed with this flight, I think it went very well indeed!! Good video.
That shot from the drone at the end was so good! 👍
You should make more custom RC boats!
Just watched that video, and I mustn't be the only one who got it recommended!
1:54 Toby awe ❤️ 🐶🐕🦺🐾
I literally am not expecting it to fly very well. With just the size of props and engines. It wasn't even structurally sound. But never the less these are always amazing videos to watch.
Then low and behold my reaction when it does fly..... 👁👄👁
Props to that drone operator as well
Great job Peter and yes it flew. The discussion of wing warping though esoteric is familiar with many in the aviation community although for just the average person might be a bit technical. It is always good to see you mixing it up with the people from FliteTest.
So if I'm understanding correctly, because the Aileron is at the back edge of the wing, the upwards force not only provided a rolling torque about the fuselage, but also a twisting torque about the wing spars, pitching the leading edge down and creating a larger, downward force opposite the initial force from the aileron?
@@blak4831 I have no idea but I like learning things no matter how isolated.
And on that day, Peter learned about aeroelasticity :)
So super idea
Your drone camera guy is an absolute pro.
PeterSripol whatever you did you made lots of people smile, so it was a success.
Was there no differential thrust setup to pull it out of the roll?
i feel that he could have maybe used more rudder to pull it out of the stall.
@@enley782 it needed a concave angle in the wings.
It had differential thrust, but the wing warping was too extreme to counter.
U should make a rc cargo plane that drops fireworks, support packeges, water balloons ect.
You are a Humble Man.
You are a intelligent.
You are a Miracle.
and in the last
You are a Hero for All Plane Makers❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Peter could make a rock fly. Well done.
Video idea: building a model airplane that is like the caproni ca60 tranaero
Oddly specific but ok
@@robertcasey1708 the ca 60 is pretty crazy
The FAA sticker at 11:52 got me. I initially thought it was a ATF one.
The fact it even flew. Amazing.
14:50 It’s cool bro, I hear 50% of planes will experience floppy wing syndrome at some point in their life. Nothing to be ashamed of.
Have you ever thought about making a Coléoptère as an rc aircraft? I think it would make for an interesting project.
Peter is my hero of diy Aviation.
whoever's flying this drone is a piloting god
I think pusher configuration is necessary with that motor/wing size ratio. Having all those small props as pullers basically meant most of the airflow over the wing was turbulent. On paper, that thing should have enough thrust to VTOL, switching to pusher props should achieve that.
Seeing as it was the sun that did this plane in, maybe retroactively name this craft Icarus.
This was so fun! Next one use differential thrust? Rudder not aileron turn? Biplane? Fireworks?
This was an epic project with group effort.
Make a Biplane next. Shorter wings plus opportunities for additional strength via cross supports. Biplanes are how the original designs solved floppy wing syndrome! ;)
Aileron Reversal (The ailerons actually twist the entire wing producing opposite roll effect)
Your videos have improved substantially recently. Good work. Subscribed
I just loved the little tiny parachute you mounted just in case. as if a parachute like that would slow the plane in any shape or form :)))
0:24 my ear can tolerate this sound more than the formula e engines high frequency sounds.
Exactly what I was thinking.
Aileron reversal due to wing warping.
That’s still a brilliant effort with the kids
the RC community seems like a nice lot of people
The drone footage was impressive!
Amazing how Hundreds And Hundreds of people will just see *Deez Nuts* on the side while its flying
who ever did that is an absolute chad for that
Oh yeah people were drawing the most funny and stupid things on that plane
im super impressed, many of his friends on other channels have engineering degrees yet I've seen on many occasions during collabs these guys asking for Peters advice and deferring to him, I feel for Peters father when he does the maned planes I can see the worry on his face, but nothing but fun today
It flew like the wind!! Congratulations 🎈🎊🍾🎉
9:54 the pilot was so confident he left 2 plane within 2 secs of flight
1:33
Child labor for the win
Ok boeing your turn
This is even funnier now than it was 2 years ago
Oh my, 100 engine plane, that's something to look forward to!
For how quickly it was built I think it did wonderful.
hey Peter, i'd like to sponsor one of your episodes, what is the best way to get in touch with you?
Everyone get this comment to the top!
One doesn’t experience self-transcendence, the illusion of self only dissipates,🎈
I think your insane and brilliant at the same time keep up the awesome projects.
Do another one, make engine banks, maybe a 3D printed mount, then use the bank itself to make gussets to support the wings... you could alternate the banks, up and down, then support the wings upward and downward... with a central mast, like an ultralight...
I would have loved to see a successful lap and a landing.... flight is so easy, yet so hard... mesmerizing to watch
looking forward to coming environmental friendly projects
When You Tried Again To Fly It Its Going Perfect Brother
This plane is the definition of SimplePlanes logic, if it doesnt work, add more engines
Run some cables to hold the wing in place like pre-WWII fabric airframes; add more motors on the trailing edge (pusher) to give more power. Go for 100 motor setup with reinforced airframe, you guys can do it!!!
The GigaChad... Top Keks
I have always wondered if a triebflugel would fly, it would be cool see you making one
Amazing community project. Great content.
Big thank you to everyone who think it's always great to just repeat what happens in the video. 👍 To those people, who for some unknown reason love to give spoilers.
Hey look my brother Eric Robb made it into the video! He is also a Pro at building RC planes. Glad he got to help on this one at Flight Test 2021.
I am sure that most of the kids would be decided to become an Aeronautical Engineer. You are really inspiring 🔥🔥🔥
100 motor plane in 2022!!! You cra cra Sripol! Can't wait to see it. LOL
It's amazing it was even able to fly and stay up in the air for a bit.
I like how during the Huel Ad he was pouring it into his mouth but the bottle was clearly empty
That drone pilot is nutty
love you testing the wing with an rc car and a dog. and having hulk hogan building it!
Very cool. Congrats, it flew!
Great video as always :D glad you survived until 2021 :)
i kept ignoring this BC i thought it was the FLIGHT-TEST vid i had already seen, but WAIT! it was peter all along!
