I had the same thought as you watching those runs running at hish speed on the air frame you made for slow regular PC fans 😄

No big deal, it is just wood sticks. They back together _SUPER_ easy with glue. And fast too. I recommend you stop by your local hobby shop and pick up a cheap kit and put it together. I believe you would be surprised at how easy it actually is.
Technically speaking tho what fall into the definition ??, a rasberry pi would definitely do the job as it have the ideal light weight and small dimension for ease of flight.

I wonder if it becomes better if you put them in a paper tube that narrows at the end. You forgot to change CG when you mounted havier motors. So they stalled because of a wrong cg.

The other thing is that at least in the US MSRP at launch no longer reflects the real price due to the tariff on pc components currently so the new "msrp" can be over $100 more than launch price
With larger fans, you will get a higher thrust-to-weight ratio because you can achieve higher static pressures and significantly higher CFM's with the 12in (and even better with 14in) fans with very low watts. Especially if you use ones like Noctua's 12v iPPC 2000rpm fans or Arctic p12 fans that have 75 CFM or higher.
The mousetrap airplane was pretty cool. Addendum: i use two PC fans in a single unit for cooling the two 550 Titan motors on my EMAXX. Very little added weight and near 4 more minutes run time. Wow!

Previous craft with cantilever wings failed because they were too heavy; later craft were able to eliminate the wires again because they had access to better materials like carbon fiber.
By drilling holes in the side of the fan you have airflow going out acting as an airbrake, like reverse thrust works on comercial jets. The centrifugal force of the blades throwing air outward flows out of the holes. Those walls are designed to stop that and throw that flow back.
Okay, so I can't be the only person that thinks a few of Peter's rc projects could be revisited with AI elements or auto-pilot software. That roomba that can fly should be able to fly itself.

I think the shroud around the PC fan blades increases the thrust compared to a bare propellor, such as when he removed the shroud to save weight.
