Deep Fishing Hole || Burnett River

- After I got a Hot tip from a Subscriber, of a deep hole that was bound to have some monster fish lurking about. I set off to pin point it after I launched the kayak. I was surprised how close to the ramp that this hole was. I can see why some locals have trespassed to gain access from the shore, as it gets DEEP very quickly from the shoreline.
Though it was a promising looking spot, I soon found myself a little under prepared for how deep was actually going to be. and how fast the current was going to rip through there. I got my anchor stuck almost immediately and without have enough rope let out the kayak was on the tipping point.
I kept calm and decided I'd fish for a bit and if need be I'd have to cut the anchor free. Thankfully I was able to flag down a near by fisherman "Mick" and he was more than happy to assist me. It always amazes me the kindness of strangers, especially fellow fisho's. I didn't record the ordeal as I wanted to respect the privacy of his young son aboard.
After all that fuss I decided it would be safer to cruise up river a bit and find more suitable fishing grounds until I'm more prepared to safely anchor up. Lesson Learned.
It's always surprising to me how much more beautiful in person some of these spots are that I find on the maps. There is some really unique areas to fish along the Burnett river, and I'm still yet to explore more than half of it.

@@tonyfloro3014 Ahh, I thought that's also where I might have seen your name. Thanks for sharing mate, the old black dog 😢 I also don't watch commercial TV, Ariel blew off the house in a storm 4 years ago, and I never bother hooking it back up. Appreciate you popping over here to show your support. Liam's channel and his content is fantastic and is certainly one of the motivating forces behind me getting back out there and sharing my fishing journey. 👍

hey mate what type of boat did Mick have, the fella that helped with the anchor
I cant quite remember, i want to say it was a white poly-craft. Been awhile. may have been just a nice low sided white tinny about 4 meters long. I didn't want to include the footage of him helping me, as he had a younger son onboard. if it was you, or someone you know... tell them thanks for me 😉
@@CastingAwayDepression my old mans got an white polycraft, wouldve been my younger brother onboard with him. thats sick!
@@napes_online small world aye. All i kept thinking when it all went down was "The kindness of strangers" it's random acts of kindness like that, that keeps my faith in Humanity. All the best to you and your family. Cheers to your Father :)
Do you keep any for eating ? Not being silly, but also interested in why Feet is used for the depth because since 1966 we have only had metres measurement in Australia.
Hey Warwick, thanks for your questions mate. I do on the rare occasion keep one for eating. I personally like the sport of fishing more than wanting to catch to eat. 😉 And as for using Feet for the Depth measurement, a little is from force of habit from my stepfather when we would go out fishing on the family boat. I personally use Meters and KM/h on my fish finder. It's a little stressful to see 30 or 40 Feet under you when your on a Kayak but when its in meters 10 Meters doesn't sound so deep haha. Also, I notice in my analytics here on RUclips I have a healthy Americans audience that like watch my content so I like try and mention both measurements when I can. 👍
