Cheers Jeff, this is BikingBaloo writing, from small Luxembourg Country/Europe. Me and my old Motorbike-Trials-Friends (from the 80's) love your video clips!!😎 Amazing and incredible! And now, with a crying and a smiling eye, we must recognize that we were born 30 years too early! 😉 But today's bike techniques and your clips, are so amazing and infectuous, that now, after more than 30 years of abstinence, we just “returned“ (as nearly grandpa's) and we restarted to practice our trail and trials skills....on E-Mountainbikes!! 😎 What a fun!!! 👍😂 Thanks so much for your great learning stuff!! Cheers, Trail Boss....and stay healthy,......everybody!! 👋
Hi Jeff. My name is Alex. I`m from germany and 52 years old. Besides from an all- mountain bike I lately bought a 24" street- trials bike to learn some basic techniques of mountainbiking better. I really like your style of riding and your trials skills are amazing. I find you`re very laid back and not at all self centered. Which in my opinion has a very positive effect on your how to videos. I find them great for learning and understanding- so please make some more of them (maybe also some trials skills specific). Greatings from heidelberg and ride on.
Thank you, Jeff! I’ve been using my track stand and hopping skills that you taught everyone, on some really rooty, rocky, uphill trails. Those skills are game changers in getting through those tough sections and not stopping when I get hung up, like I used to do.
I struggled with stationary balancing and I instantly got better at it with your first drill, so thank you very much! I loved the video and am definitely going to practice all the drills.
Finally! - I thought, a very simple looking skill that should be easy to do, especially as I can already trackstand. Only had one sesh so far..., but failed miserably!!! I could only just get that front wheel off the ground (& felt very unbalanced) and as for rotation, ha! I just couldn't overcome the grip of the tyre. You make it look so easy Jeff, thanks for the great vid., I'll give it another go :-)
Great video great info! In the 2 years I’ve been mountain biking and watching videos to learn all the techniques this is the first I’ve seen about this type of movement and I can really use it. Thanks from one Jeff to another!
Jeff, thanks for the reminder. Was wanting something to do besides hop on the boring trainer and not quite ready yet to practice my wheelies since knee isn't strong enough for awkward bails and such. Love me some slow tech and love me some tech climbing, so great way to pass the time. Fairly passable at the track stands, but hoping the wheels around is definitely my weak point, so challenge accepted, hoping that in the 2 weeks of 24/7 curfew I would have greatly improved my ability to move around in tight spaces.
I love your videos and look forward to every new episode! 😂 but I have to remind myself, it’s not required to be so technically sound, to thoroughly enjoy riding trails and mountain biking. But I am progressing and improving over time thanks!
Thank you for your videos! You are such an inspiration. My buddy and I rode Farlow Gap recently and being on the trail gave me a new appreciation for how easy you make it look. I will be trying to conquer these skills over the next few weeks!
Great video, I agree its a great opportunity to upskill Thanks for showing how to use your hips to swing out the back wheel, I was trying to force it around.
Love this Jeff because what you show is attainable by an 'advanced intermediate' rider like me, with a little practice. Too many videos make the impossible look easy and it's demoralizing to regular folks.

Another Great video Thank you and keep them coming please, We have one local techincal trail that is hard enough to go down and deemed impossible to ride up, Im going to practice these skills there so I can blow my buddies minds next time we can ride as a group...
@@JeffLenoskyTrailBoss Wompatuk state park Hingham Ma, To clarify its actually one small section of the trail that that is particularly difficult and has multiple small boulders (1' to 2' )you need to navigate through with a tight left turn while climbing. Appreciate the response.
I’m lucky to call fruita my home but every time I see you go UP Horsethief, it blows my mind! I’ve pieced together about 2/3 of it going down, let alone up. At 6’4” I feel I’m at a disadvantage climbing. Will definitely practice some of these techniques
Hi Jeff. I made up my mind to absolutely learn how to correctly track stand. I’ve done 30-45 minutes of practice per day for 50+ days and can track stand with either foot forward and can turn the front wheel in either direction, thanks to you. I can hold the track stand for as long as I need to. My question is, I see you back pedal out of a track stand (fakie) and wonder how you do that without spinning backward? I’ve tried to do it and can’t get the hang of it. What’s the trick? Thanks.
Could you show the front wheel lift at 3:44 with another camera angle and explain it in more detail? I can lift the front wheel but getting it to the left or right a side is a problem. The rear wheel is not a problem at all. Where does the side way motion come from? Hips combined with pedal kick?
for the front wheel, if you need to correct your balance you're probably falling in that direction... if you preload you should be moving in that direction already so yo push off and lift your bike and move the front wheel under you.
@@JeffLenoskyTrailBoss if I want to get the front wheel on the curb from trackstand I should pre load while already falling a bit into the direction of the curb? While also turning the front wheel a bit towards the curb? Since the arms are light on the bars due to the pre load I do not expect a lot of force on the bars.
Ok I tried again and I now seem to be able to manage it without a pedal kick. During the preload phase I already move my upperbody next to the bike above the curb, then it becomes indeed manageable to get the bike onder me right after the preload and the front wheel ends up on the curb. 👍

So, trackstand: turn your bars toward the forward foot. Is this important? I learned the opposite, and I'd say half the online vids on this also do this. But if it's better the Lenoski way I'd like to know!
there's really no WRONG way, but this is what I've always done. On small bikes or 29ers you can hit your front foot so that's why it's always easier to turn towards it vs away. If you already have it figured out and the other way works for you stick with it!
