- Get ready to learn how to manual further than you've ever imagined. In this video I show you a method of 4 simple steps, which will make you manual across whole parking lots.
The most important thing to learn if you want to manual long distances isn't just where your balance point is, but how to move your weight around to balance in all directions, which many other tutorials don't talk about.
Enjoy the most comprehensive, in depth manual tutorial ever. (or at least the best I was able to make)

How To Manual, how to manual trials, how to manual mtb, how to manual bmx, how to manual bike, learn to manual, how to learn manuals in 4 steps

Here's one more tip I missed: As you start lifting the front, you need to drop the rear pedal a bit (rotating the cranks backwards) and also tilt the pedals to a more comfortable angle, because you are hanging off the back of the bike and not standing over the cranks anymore. By tilting everything back a little, the cranks and pedals are facing you again.
For anyone who can manual that's completely subconscious and a natural position to take, but I've heard some people are struggling for that reason.
Have fun!
Realy wonderful manual how to manual. 🙂 I was really able to learn the manual accorting this tutorial but... I stuck in the point "Knees to the left, knees to the right". Really big game changer for me was moment, I realized that best way to balance left and right by knees is to have big manipulating area for knees. Which means keep You knees far apart for suficient manipulation and again same thing with pancil (or rope walker with really long stict to keep balance over the abyys).
My height 162cm ..what size best for me bro ?
i have a question. do i hvae to be high bc im short and its hard to manual. i cant even put the front wheel up by putting my body weight back
1. Preload - bend your arms 2. Push pedals with your feet@@YourShadowFE
@@theman1463whats that in American?
The best manual tutorial ever. No contest.
bogler bill yeah this is seriously the best on youtube imo
Learn to mess up right!! Then dont mess up!!
100%
Not saying it isn't but I would deffinetly check out scotty cranmers video on manuals
So true
As soon as I realised he was German and had a system, i knew it would be good. I was not disappointed.
Excellent tutorial - this guy knows what he is talking about.
Not only that but he totally knocked it out of the park with the editing too.
The editing is so nice too
Eddie Donald just realized you said the same
Hi my name is
I am Max what's your name
I've been struggling for 2 years on my BMX to manual. I could always get the wheel up and loop out but never hold it for more then a second. After watching this and doing step 2 I did a 25ft long one today after only 15 minutes of practice. Thanks so much. Now if only I could tail whip.
15 minutes of practice? Are you some sort of machine? :D
@@kawsper Well you have to put it in prespective. I think of it as 2 years and 15 minutes of practice.
@@stinkyham9050 I see :) It's a fun thing to train. I've been doing it for a few hours now and getting better, I think what I really needed to realize was that I needed to bend a lot lower down than I thought.
This guy is the best at tutorials… such a pity he doesn’t do this kind of videos anymore.
Man i can tell u with this tutorial i learned my balance IN 1 DAY this is the BEST! THANKS.
I finally learned to manual thanks to your video
I learned to manual during the quarantine! Thanks to you I can now do 100 meters +
CRACKED IT.
Its taken me months to crack it but i've just jumped from bringing the wheel up for a couple meters uncontrolled to 10 meters consistant! Followed your guide. Just took me a while.
This is seriously the best manual tutorial on RUclips . When you type “how to manual” they only teach you how to lift the front wheel, they dont teach you how to balance etc. well done on this video mate👍😀
Been battling how to manual my entire life, this helped out a ton! I can blast any terrain on a downhill bike and can almost do whatever on a bike but manualing just always kicked my ass. I really think the getting use to looping out is the key, I always do whatever I can not to loop out, which I think is a horrible habit to learn.
Yeah.... but then I looped out 10000000 times and still sucked at the manual..
I am not even good enough at looping out with my dh bike its like a 100 kilos.😢
Philipp Burzlaff you are not using your body weight correctly i think. You are way heavier than the bike. Your core and legs pull you up into a manual, not your arms...
@@Hermelin.G1 yeh
I had to conquer the fear of looping out for wheelies, after I did they are easier to learn.
Thank you for sharing this video. I'm 42 years old and due to my son getting into bmxing I've bought myself one too and for the last couple of weeks have been practicing manuals. I've had some limited success after watching other videos but have had the fear of looping out (after landing flat on my back the first time). Tonight after watching this video a few times first I've got to step 3 and manualing for a couple of seconds within about 45minutes. The first step is so important and now I have no fear of looping out even at a decent pace as I now know I can safely get my feet down if I go to far. Thank you.
I'm 41, no kid except my inner child. If you can so can I. Gunna start this week. 😃
One of the best tutorials ever. Visual, audio and the straight forward talk. Appreciate it. Now this 46 year old is on my BMX journey. F age. 😎
The new pump track in chopwell brought me here. Im 37
The back and forth slow mo like at 1:30 and other places was top notch 👌 big help to visualize what my body needs to do. Definitely keep doing that with voice overs on future videos. 👊 Thanks a ton
Great video! I’ve always wanted to learn manuals and you demonstrated it so well :)
True
Wow! Perfektes Tutourial! Bitte mehr davon, zu verschiedenen Sachen. 😍💪
Muss dir zustimmen, Georg! Echt perfektes how to! 🤩✌🏽
Ich bin jedesmal begeistert, wie gut du solch Tricks usw. erklärst. Werde mich nächstmöglich aufmachen den Manual mit deinen Tipps zu üben🙏🏼
Dann wünsch ich dir viel Erfolg ✌
If I could like this video twice I would definitely do it. Best manual tutorial.
I'm a former trials rider and physics enthusiast, who's getting back into riding after a 15 year break.
Loving how much you've thought about the physics - you're definitely the best on youtube at describing techniques for manuals, bunnyhops, and other things.
The first step is the key to achieving this trick. In 5 minutes I learned how to raise the front wheel. You are the Best.
I don't even have a bike:)) I just stay subscribed for the day when I get one,but I also enjoy watching you
Thanks, dude :) Hope you get your bike soon
Trust me. It’s worth it. I can be super stressed, go for a ride and come back the happiest guy ever!
If I had an extra, I’d give you it. Imagine if all 15 people who liked your comment gave you $5, you’d have enough to buy a good bmx bike. I bought a used Fit Bike 20” BMX in great condition for only $40 on letgo. Peace.
@@XGaming1 I would spend 5👌😉
Did you get a bike yet?
MFer I'm 39, almost 40, just learned to wheelie over 10 meters the past few months. Working on my manuals a d this so the best video I've seen in just the first 2 mins. Great stuff. Can't wait to try
I've been riding mtb's so long (over 30 yrs), manuals literally didn't even exist when I began. In '94 I moved to FL and hung up my bike for kayaking the Everglades. When I returned to the sport, about 13 yrs later, manualing was THE MOVE to learn. I was a pretty adept rider in my day, but pulling it off was something that frustrated the F@%K out of me. Now at 50, this video alone gave me the ability to look a touch better than a 6yr old trying learning to "wheelie" for the first time. Becoming comfortable with "looping out" was the step that changed it for me. I ride clipless, but am learning on flats. This old man thanks you in a big way!!! Cheers!! P.S. DON'T STOP TRYIN'!!! It'll happen for you. Just like everything else in this amazing sport, it takes practice, practice, practice!!
You are the only one ive found who actually teaches techniques!!!! Thank you so much! You understand this material so well!
Dude u got skills to be a teacher. I’ve watched hundreds of manual tutorials and believe me, this one is gem.
I've watched 97 videos and this has got to be the best so far. I am going to go ride my bike now.
Best manual tutorial ever. I like the way you explain it. I'm out in my front yard practicing back and forth when I get home from work now. I can't wait to bust this out on the trail!
by far the most detailed toutorial without any useless crap. the back and forth slomotions are great to understand the principles of the certain steps. great work thank you.
Probably the best tutorial on manuals out there. Very well though out and produced.
Thanks, man ✌
This is a next level lesson.Your 4 exercises break a big challenge into a doable skill.
This is hands down the best tutorial on the internet
I found myself accidentally pulling a manual on a trail last weekend. It was surprising and a little disconcerting, but it was a trail that I'd ridden quite a bit over the last few weeks and I was pretty comfortable. That's why I clicked on this video and now I will have to do these practice moves! Thank you.
After trying this, I found my seat getting in the way. Also, I think with 29" wheels it is more difficult. Plus, you make it look so easy!
This was the only video I actually learned something
Mann... This channel Is so underated, needs more recognition. Keep up the good work
Thanks 💪🏻
As others have no doubt stated... this IS one of the best manual tutorials I’ve seen. Great content and editing also! Apreeeeeeeeeesh!
The best manual tutorial ever. Learning to loop out at will first teaches you so much so quickly.
Wow, I've watched at least over a dozen videos on how to manual and yours is by far the best. The explanation with the slow mo sessions and repeats with commentary are superb. Subscribed.
I think out of everyone I’ve seen do this trick u are the best. You don’t move a ton while doing it most everyone else is swaying back and fourth. Nice job
I was having trouble with manualing yesterday and after watching this video last night, I’m able to manual my whole drive way which is like 500ft. Liked and Subbed for sure.
Hopefully this wont happen to you but it happened to me when i was doing a manual and im so glad my friend was there with me, if you ever loop out but cant get you feet off fast enough or you get your feet off but you land on a slippery surface, if you get the wind knocked out of you (you will know if you did you wont be able to breathe) *DO NOT PANIC!* put both your arms straight up above your head and lay in a stretched out position, when i did this the first time i honestly thought i was gonna die but my friend instantly said "Put your arms above your head and breathe like you normally would!" If you dont already know this trick remember it if you do already know it please dont reply and say "Everyone already knows what to do" Thank you!
Everyone already knows what to do
@ Eclipse,
Have to remember that one if I'm Knot Knocked out or memories short circuit's. 👍🏁
I didn't know that. 😀
Thanks.
I need to improve my manuals but currently rely a lot on my rear brake. Unfortunately my rear brake almost entirely stops working when it’s wet. One rainy day I was manualling and the brake just wasn’t there. Don’t think I’ve ever been more badly winded. I can still remember laying there on the ground feeling utterly helpless!
The best "How to Manual" tutorial I have seen!!
i’ve never seen a tutorial, where i was impressed like here, thanks a lot
definitely the best tutorial on manuals, very deep on the moves that takes to keep the front wheel up and straight.
You got a like from me just because of your voice this seriously and scientifically detailing how to do a manual. I think I'm going to need to subscribe.
This tutorial has been a game changer for me. Like the many other comments saying, this is the single best manual tutorial on youtube. The point about looping out is important. Really, thank you for this! Feel like its opened a door to new possibilities
Literally 200 people commenting the same but this tutorial is just so good I've got to say it as well!! Best manual tutorial out there, nothing else close. 🤙
Such a great and detailed tutorial! Thank you for taking the time to make it.
Hope it helps! 😁
@@TheUselessTrials Ive been hitting an empty parking lot the last couple days and I'm seeing slow progress. Pretty exciting! But the closer I get to getting it down the more I'm looping out. Lol at least now I'm actually getting up and getting a few swings forward and back to stabilize before the wheel drops. It's definitely fun though...it's cool seeing progress over days. 🤙
This is the best manual tutorial I've seen to date. Your tutorials are all top notch.
Thanks!
Been riding forever and I can manual forever. Watched this video cuz it was in my recommended and holy moly. 10 out of 10. AMAZZZINNGGGGG VIDEO. PERFECT TEACHER.
Dope tutorial. BiTD I wanted the manny so bad. Three decades later it is my butter. This is such an exacting, exactly, exact tutorial, I'm stoked. Learn the manny people, it's so legit. This tutorial is the best start.
🤘🙇🤘
Hi mate, well if what you say at the start off this video is true about ‘if you can manual 20m then you can manual’…I can do it. Thanks so much for posting this. I am not exaggerating when I say there can’t be many ‘how to manual’ video that I haven’t seen. I have bee trying to learn from a time we’ll before RUclips, seriously, but could never get it. But, there is something about your method and video that worked. I am happy beyond words mate…it’s the biggest of big deals to me (I am 50 now, by the way) so thanks so very, very much.
This guy has taught me more about bmx than other bmx youtubers
Excellent tutorial. This is probably the most concise straightforward and clear set of steps I’ve seen to achieving a good manual.
the first step: learn to loop out. the best advice so far and very valuable ;) ... and not only for manuals actually
Wow! Nice! This is one of the best tutorials out there! Its actually teaching you and telling you what
To expect in different scenario and what are the steps you'll go thru and not just showing off! Thanks for this video!
Thanks, that was the most detailed and clear description of how to manual that I've seen. Im going to check it out now
the most systematized training process. so good. really good
Now my new favorite how-to vid on manuals. The special effects are wonderful to help get it. Cheers!!!
Saw dozens of tutorials before.... This one actually made me give a thumbs up and subscribe the channel. Awesome work man!
This is the best description of the process I've ever seen. I learned a lot
Mega Tutorial! Ich habe schon viele geschaut und konnte nicht wirklich Fortschritte machen. Damit hab ich schon bei den ersten Loop-out Versuchen längere Manuals geschafft. Vielen Dank!!!
I knew/understood most of this already... But your presentation made it make even more sense and motivates me mentally to try them again and maybe enough to get good at them thank you
you deserve more subscribers - you make the best tutorials and actually explain the trick and what its about
Thanks, dude :)
WOW this is by far the best tuto i've ever seen !!!!! Thank you!!!!
Bro, this channel is being slept on you’re so good at making how to videos!
Finally someone who can actually teach.
The editing and cinematography of this vid are next level.
this is the best manual teaching video I've ever seen so far. thanks!!
Amazing tutorial. I’ll be saving this video. I just bought a Sunday Scout and it wants to come off the ground so easily I can’t wait to learn how to manual.
are we not gonna talk how this man manuals like a master?
This is nice, I can hold decent wheelies but can't hold a manual at all. Seeing this video made me realise that I lock up my knees and rely on the rear break till I come to a stand stop.
Brilliant! Watched loads of manual vids, and this is one of the best!
This has to be the best, most in depth tutorial yet on the manual....Nice! Liked and subscribed.
I’m gonna be honest this is the best tutorial I’ve watched for manuals🔥🤘
This is the most helpful tutorial I’ve ever seen. Cheers dude.
Definitely the best manual tutorial. Everything you said makes a lot of sense
Subscribed. Best video on manuals i’ve found. Thanks for breaking this down. I will be working on this.
I have a bmx and I’m 6’2” so when you said I needed a lower wheel to get my balance point I face palmed. This whole time I’ve been looping out and giving up on manuals over and over again because (NOW I know) that my wheel was too high! You would think after a few years I would have figured it out myself by now 😅 Thank you so much!!!
Edit: I didn’t have problems going left or right I only had problems getting into the manual and looping out once I was there. Thanks a ton!!!!
2 minutes in - the best manual manual that I've seen
best manual tutorial for sure. not using the rear brake defenitely is key. i don't know why, but i have the feeling that learning to hula hoop could boost your progress.
Wow.. that was very instructive.. you nailed that for sure.. More vids like this for us newbies plaese! Greetings from sweden!
Yea this is definately one of the best manual tutorials. He has a great tutorials on fakies as well
Just like your barspin video, you've given me such overwhelming clarity as to how I need to approach my manual practice. Such an excellent tutorial. Thanks a lot man!
Thanks man 🙌
This is the best manual video I have seen! Thank you.
Best manual vid I've seen so far I think!
Amazing rider & teacher! Love how you break it down into chunks!
This tutorial should get more views! Super good with tips different from other tutorials.
Thanks :)
Very professional tutorial. It's really helpful that you give good detail and comparisons as you go along to help us understand each part of the manual technique
Great tips man! I'm going to start working on manuals regularly. That's the number one thing I wanted to do when starting learning trials but I never practice them for some reason. There are so many things to learn! I just signed up on your Patreon! I really enjoy watching your videos.
I was wondering if that's you with the Hex in the profile picture! Thanks a lot, man. I'm looking forward to the videos on your manual progression ;)
They're great fun once you start hovering them for a couple meters.
This video is the beat manual video I've ever seen
Thanks dude!
I wasn't bad at manuals but your video is gonna make me improve I know, 'cause I used my brake too much, thanx mate!!
finally some normal man made a an knowable, teachable tutorial
:)
Great tips mate. Been working on the manual for ages. Going to get them sweet this summer. Really enjoyed your editing too btw, well done :).
Definitely the best video how to manual i ve seen so far !
Best manual how-to I've seen. Wicked good!
The best demonstration out there. Bravo
Awesome Man...that's the most practical training that I've ever seen 🤘👏
