Kudos not only to the soloist, the conductor, and the orchestra, but also to the recording engineer that captured this performance in a flawless manner!
Mr. Jackiw gives one of the most outstanding interpretations of this work that I've heard. His tone and technique are amazing. Many thanks for sharing this performance.
I have confidence this recording would serve as a cornerstone for classical music for years to come. His layered sensitivity, nuanced execution -- nothing is overdone or underdone, everything in the right amount without undermining the artistic integrity of the piece. Most of all, it's completely selfless and devoted to the music. As evident by the principal's facial expressions throughout the entire performance! I've listened to this video countless times now, helps me concentrate and reminds me how beautiful the world can be. Thank you, Stefan.
I'd agreed with you. His playing reminds me of his late grandfather who was the famous poet and educator in Korea. His play calms me down while I am with my intense daily routine.

Rock solid tuning. Rock solid technique. Rock solid musicality. Absolutely heavenly sound in high positions. No over-playing. No thrashing. No nasty over pressured bow noises. Why is this man not at the top of the classical fiddle charts? His playing here is absolutely stella.
I agree. As a spoiled (?) resident of Seattle, I had the pleasure to see and hear him several times in the wonderful concert series of the Seattle chamber music Society.
My beloved uncle passed a few weeks ago. It was his favourite piece of music, ever. He even wrote a book on it and published it last summer. So proud of him, forever. I played it next to him in the hospital, at his funeral and now when I'm studying and missing him so much and I can feel him here with me listening to it. My mentor, my guide, my guardian angel, my best friend, my uncle. Another light has just gone on in heaven.
What a beautiful tribute to your uncle. Some of us have amazing uncles like that and we are blessed. If you could provide us with the link to the book that he wrote about this piece, I would love to share it with my musician friends.

Totally amazing. The orchestra is trying to keep up with him. What a clean, in tune performance! I love the cellists' facial expressions, saying, "Yup, he's freaking good."
About 15years ago, I heard Stephen play this song in Korea. He was a nameless young violinist and played it much more aggressively and toughly than this. I've never felt such emotion listening to this song played by any other even Heifetz before and after that day. Getting smoother and composed, 4th movement, especially intro, reminds me of that time. I love it!
24:24-24:40 Now THAT is an exquisite moment! The cellist caught it also and the smile spread across his face! The cellist, in fact, has a marvelous time throughout the entire piece 27:30. 30:45 hearty clapping with such appreciation...It is nice to see orchestra members enjoying and in harmony with the soloist, conductor and the music.
Stunning performance. Saw this video on 2015 and still captivated by it now. I hope Stefan will make appearance again sometimes sooner. His amazing talent needs to be shared with the world. Wherever you are, Stefan, and whatever you are doing now, I wish you nothing but the best. this is my favourite recording, perfect in so many ways. A testament to this is the grin on the assistant principal cellist's face in the final movement!
Look at disbelief on the face of the cellist starting at 29:30. It culminates a bit later in face saying “I’ll could never be as good as that guy, and I don’t mind a bit”. The way the cellist applauds later shows his respect and admiration. This is something one doesn’t see often in music videos.

Einfach wunderbar!

Max Bruch's music is angelical. The voices coming out of the strings are dards transfixing our hearts with their tones full of melancholy, sorrow and lamentation. A heartache rain over one's soul. Most beautiful music. All his creations are beautiful.

+Glenn Quader I agree. I think it has a lot to do with the fine Conductor - but I also think the superb clarity of Jackiw's playing probably carries the whole Orchestra with him. But that said, they're great anyway, too!

he is a heifetz of sorts...impeccable precision in notes with much originality, musicality, style and everything and more of a great violin virtuoso...had not heard about him until today..Got me spellbound and captivated to the 6th sense..
One of the few where the winds make a clean entrance. Beautiful and heartfelt playing!!
So clean and great unity between soloist and the ensemble, very heartfelt performing!
+Glenn Quader I agree. I think it has a lot to do with the fine Conductor - but I also think the superb clarity of Jackiw's playing probably carries the whole Orchestra with him. But that said, they're great anyway, too!
I can only agree with all other comments. Absolutely fantastic. I did know that Stefan Jackiw is a supertalent, but this , so inspiring, is beyond anything I have ever heard. Please Mr Jackiw, make an album including this piece! I would also like to hear Stefan live. Will he be performing in Sweden in the near future? That would be great!
i agree with you From Japan JST、3:38分
@@TS-bb1pv Thanks for reminding me about this wonderful performance. … can’t believe that 7 years has past since I made my comment. However I did listen to this performance many times during those years.
I CAN'T STOP LISTENING THIS PIECE PLAYED BY STEFAN JACKIW - EXCELLENT!
Great performance. There is so much passion in this violinist's playing.

Bloody beautiful performance. Causes my hairs to stand on end..
Love him.
Never heard of this violinist but oh my, what an exquisite soloist!! Bravo.
He's one of the best in the world. He just doesn't record much and he does a lot of chamber music
He is the best so far interpreting this music.. you are amazing stefan !
Fantastic. All around great performance.
No gauze; no feathering; purely exquisite notes. I can hear each one. Wow!
Whoa whoa whoa……! 🔥🔥🔥
Not just the fiercest, but also the most intense and divine performance~.
🙏
this kid is frekin supernatural. He plays every single note perfectly which is baaaasically impossible.
im watching the cellist dudes face for half the video lool
I mean, he's not a kid, he's 31 in the video.
Yes, but what about the spaces between the notes? Or the piece as a whole? Does he play **those perfectly?
Yes!! The cellist is like "Whaaaat?"" This young man is very gifted...
30:42 Cello dude leans his cello on his left leg and then starts clapping with those large hands. The mike picks-up his claps at various times. Watch his hands and listen for the clapping sound.
Not a kid
Heavenly sound🎻Magnificent performance!!!Marvelously beauty!!!
A powerful performance! Impressed by his speed and clarity.
I LOVE Bruch Scottish Fantasy and so does Stephan Jackiw seem to very much. If I could play violin as he does, I would play as he did.
Orchestra superb. Violinist perfect
Absolutely wonderful. I recall reading somewhere that this was one of Heifetz's favourite pieces. He loved the music. I suspect this kid loves it too.
learned to love this piece during university days, still love it with all me heart!
