    Thank you for your reviews. Have recently ordered AP2 4-PW with a 2-Iron T-MB. Your swing is very smooth and you generate terrific club head speed without effort. Well done. Subscribed.

    I'm still loving my 714s. Glad to see the new 718s! They do look pretty! Not in a hurry to change yet. I'm definitely going Ap2 on my next set. Nice vid mate!

    Have used the 716 AP2 for one year, when fitted with the correct shaft to your swing, there is no need to upgrade to 718 IMHO. I tested my irons against my friend's 718 with DGS300, my irons were 5 to 8 yards longer in average after 10 shots with the 6 iron ( I use KBS Tour). I guess spending $1100 US for a slightly better looking iron is a bit silly, I will keep my 716 for another two years and wait for the 720. I did not notice any forgiveness improvement in the 718. I tested the 718 AP1, those irons were longer and higher launch than mine, but did not have the sound or feel of the AP2, the DG 105 shaft launches high but with inconsistent distance, from long to very long, 5 to 12 yards between shots. The AP1 seems to favor thin shots, it can go as much as 15 yards longer than AP2 716 (tested 6 iron).

    I just ordered my new set of 718 ap2s so excited I’ve watched this vid a few times now just trying to hold of on calling my Golf shop every 30 mins like a kid in the back seat. Are we there yet? I really like the honest reviews on your channel. Great work.

    how is it I swing my 7 iron at 78-80 mp/h and get similar distance when compared to your 93 mp/h speed? I hit my 714 ap2 7 iron 162 yards carry... my smash is roughly around 1.45.

    I did the same test with 714 AP2, same shafts. 718 was a yard longer. Felt great, but not enough to upgrade.

    Were these the models for fitting hence the torque head screw in the base

    716 AP2 better looking for me.... I like the contrast in color of the 716 - but thats the beauty in club selection. Each to his own.

    So, conclusion, no difference in performance, it´s purely on looks. And I agree, the 718 looks nicer. Then it becomes about the money...

    The swing is beautiful, Mike! Interested in AP2 714! What say you? Is there much to choose between the three! I suspect you prefer the look of the 714 to the 716! Did you do a video on the 714 vs 716?

    I like the looks of the 716 but I'm not a AP2 loyalist but I get that it did not look like all the other AP2 irons. The new one looks like the 714 in many ways. I would be very happy with any one of them. The face is different on the 718 maybe that is where the ball speed came from. Very close on numbers both good irons.

    why so much hate for the 716?
    Rounded 718 headshape @ address reminds me of Callaway irons meant for high handicappers, women and old goats.

    Great review. Your golf swing is a pleasure to watch. When you go up to the 6 iron are they still forged and do they feel as soft? I've seen other reviews of the 6 iron that said it did not have the feel of a forged club.

    Would you or anyone say the ap2 is the current holder of the DCI 962 lineage? I'm trying to make a transition into some new irons but want similar playing characteristics of my old 962s with the obvious performance upgrades. These look very familiar from the top and the frame but I haven't gotten the chance to hit them. Thanks

    do u have the orignal Ap2....that would be an intersting comp over the life of the iron model. I think they came out in 2008. I play the 710's and still love them.

  • @majormike9664
    @majormike9664 7 лет назад +3

    716 is one of the most forgiving irons of all AP2, good feel to and work-ability. Prefer 716 over 718.

  • @adamfrance9372

    While I'd agree the looks at the back are improved. From the face side the looks were the same, both looked great sat behind the ball. Performance was too close to call. Love my 716 irons, so certainly wouldn't change until they've worn out. Great video though

    I know this is all personal preference, but I am looking at the 716 and 718 (I currently play 962Bs) but I think the 716 has a much better look than the 718.

    Hi Michael, enjoying the reviews and videos! Titleist have been saying the main difference is the forgiveness in the 718s, what do you think about how the club performs on bad strikes compared to the 716?

    • @MichaelNewtonGolf
      @MichaelNewtonGolf  7 лет назад

      Thomas Smith didn’t really notice the difference but possibly something I could test

    • @MichaelNewtonGolf

      Screwed heads are fitting irons only enabling us to change Shafts quickly during a fit

      PXG is for rich, low SS hacks

    So it means not much performance difference in between 714 vs 716 vs 718. I wouldn't pay $1000+ just to upgrade a look with same old engine.
