how do Asus recovery onto a specific drive as I have my SSD into 2 drives one for the OS
Before doing the Asus cloud recovery, is it necessary to make any backup or step? And ask, when installing a new SSD does the performance of the console improve or is it just to have more storage space?
if your installing a new ssd dont worry about any backups. also its more about storage then performance.

Mine runs terrible I seem like I have to restart like 6 times a day armory crate has a lag games seem to run worse than original ally idk what to do
Sorry to hear, I tend to not really use armory crate unless I'm checking to see if there is an update. Give bazzite or nobara a shot.
