Why is this a bad thing? It bring a greater awareness and appreciation to the site and increases the local economy. Maybe some come for Star Wars but they learn history while they are there.
TheTCGChest Machu Picchu in Peru has those problems. They had to put a limit on mass tourism since the ruins were eroding and careless tourists left trash.
It still has the same limit for people allowed on it daily as the limit was before it was featured in the film. I think the limit is around 160-180 people daily. There will never be tons of more people allowed on it.
I don’t see the problem with it there’s a limit to the amount of people that can be there and I think most people would have respect while they are there
Jason well I’ll tell you now something laddie we’re just fine with out the business from yous I can see the island from my attic and it sure is a beautiful place
I think its a travesty that this ethereal, historic site will be turned into a kind of star wars theme park with star wars crap sold in the local shops. Good for business but some things should be kept sacred and 'undiscovered'. Why does everything have to be commercialised?
It hasn't been commercialized. Controlled by the OPW. It has taken years and 2 deaths by falling to persuade them to put up a chain link handrail on the narrow bits.
Its no big deal really.. but i dont think they should have been given permission to film there in the first place, if it was Daddy's Home 2 there would be no chance.. but because it's star wars of course they can
fruh fruh the island in the movie was intended to be the the birthplace of the Jedi order and the location of their first temple; a place that carries quite a bit of religious sentiment in its own right. Given this logic, why shouldn’t they be allowed to film on a location which carries the exact same sentiment?
You have to go to urinate etc, 160 people, it off course depends how long the visit is. Im sure the visitors stay would be over an hour or so.???? Any ways so be it☘️☘️☘️☘️
These evil tourists desecrating this cold grassy isolated rockpile. What nerve...........but wait........didn't CBS News do the same thing (and then tell everyone how bad they are for visiting the island)?
We visited Skellig Michael in 2006... it is a harsh and enchanting place and was the highlight of our visit to Ireland and I will always remember it.
.....and actually, the island is BEAUTIFUL. So thank you Ireland, CBS and Lucasfilm for sharing it with us.
RIP the great Carrie Fisher
Luke didn't land the millenium falcon...
Kenny Ace EXACTLY
I must vist this place, I live a few miles away from it!
your are damn lucky man..!!!
Why is this a bad thing? It bring a greater awareness and appreciation to the site and increases the local economy. Maybe some come for Star Wars but they learn history while they are there.
Jason It was an old church. It would erode faster with TONS of people on it... People would throw gum, litter

Why does everything have to be commercialised?
I agree with your concern, fortunately, Sceilig Mhichíl has a permitted limit of 180 visitors per day.
@@Caomhanach I wish it were less than that, all that footfall isn't good for the place and I wonder how many items have been "collected" by tourists?

Thank you Clannad for introducing me to this place!
600 years, that's older than the US. Makes you wonder about their history.
Josue Peña its not 600 hundred years old it there from 600 ad.
Newgrange also in Ireland is 5200 years old, it's amazing.
@@aine7173 600 years????? 1400 years. The monks abandoned it over 700 years ago.

The films came out in 15 and 17.
hey sweetie I'm from your mom's channel been wanting to see your videos so cool great job ;)
I just hope they continue to impose the limit of daily visitors.
As long as the Chinese Nationals do not come, this island is safe.
Alvin Teo racist but yeah kinda true
harly moon no racist intention but it is true I'm not hating their race but their attitude that most of them have.
I'm Indonesian-born Chinese and I agree. Mainland Chinese tourists are obnoxious.
Didnt Ep 8 Film There for the first plot?
John Cruz - VlogS they did indeed. If you’ve seen the movie, then 1:23 should be a pretty familiar sight
Please don't visit it unless you wanted to before star wars, we don't want tourists ruining the sight. Thank you😁
LOL! Are you a snob, by any chance?
I need to go........

When he said "if it's good enough for Luke" and she replied with "we'll if it's good enough for the monks"...awkward
It was good to see she had respect for the island's real history, unlike the dumb reporter
People say that's where Luke skywalker landed the millennium falcon??? Seriously? At least get your facts straight dude OMG...
I forgot how bad the CGI was in the force awakens
Megäblue doesn’t look that bad. Better than the prequels that’s for sure
narrator sounds like donald trump after drinking apple juice
Kerry fecking kerry 😂😂out of all places they went to keery haha
He is lucky... He visited Ahch-To
