Honestly I'd be happy with the throttle body actually closing when I let off the gas. The lack of engine braking has really thrown off my ability to speed through canyons.
Do you not get any engine braking, even in sport mode? I’ve got the 22 touring and in sport, with the rpm’s held pretty high even with foot completely off gas, I’ve found I don’t need to brake in situations I would have in normal mode. Also if you really want engine braking you can downshift with the paddles.
@@natedogg7284 Compared to my 2003 Civic, the braking I experience is minimal and feels like it's more from air resistance than engine braking. Also I have the stick shift (no drive modes). Letting off the gas in 3rd or 4th gear on a canyon road does NOT slow me down nearly as much as my 03 civic would at the same speed/gear with gas off. I have to be much more on the brakes which is not what I want to be doing on a non-performance car with stock brakes.
@@APS_Inc Huh, strange. Haven’t gotten my hands on an Si or CTR yet (here’s to hoping), but I’d expect engine braking to be no problem with the manual, especially if my bum ass CVT can comfortably come to a full stop pretty quickly with little to no braking. Might just be the poor transmission begging for sweet release though lol, you never know with these CVTs.
@@natedogg7284 I suspect the Si closes the throttle body entirely in Sport mode (I think it has driving modes, unlike the normal Civic?). It would be weird if they spent all that time tuning for the Si only to not have it behave as expected when in the proper drive mode, assuming that it has them. When in regular mode I would expect an Si to also leave the throttle body slightly open for better coasting performance. Which is dumb, but that's how it is. Personally if I could change it, I'd leave the default behavior in 1st and 6th gears alone, and make every other gear mandatory throttle closure when the accelerator isn't depressed. In 6th gear I'd prefer to coast (I would downshift if I really wanted to slow down), and 1st is low enough that I don't think I need to be any more herky-jerky around the parking lot than I already am trying to modulate the clutch. (to be clear neither my new or the old Civic I have is an Si model)

You put After market 🐂💩on this Car.. I got this Same Car & I bet It Keeps up with yours on every Turn. With the Factory stuff it Came with. Well? I guess nothing is wrong with you Making some Money. The After Market parts & Cutting these Cars ruin the Value of the Car. For Resale🤨
Will this work for a 2023 civic ex?
Do you have to tune it?
