I ran the Rigid system for several years. It served me well. I updated to Packout last summer. Both have their strengths. I will say this, if your boxes are out in bad weather like snow and ice, Rigid is better. The packout cleats fill with snow and ice and make the unusable. Or worse they freeze together. I had to put garbage bags over them last winter. It sucked. I have a van now instead of a truck so it’s no longer an issue for me. But it’s certainly good for thought.
Thanks for the heads up. I almost bought the Ridgid. I could of got the big bottom with the larger wheels a smaller sized tool box and one of the crates f on th local home Depot for just the price of the bottom packout from Milwaukee. I'm gonna go back and get it as soon as I have the funds again. I ended buying a diamondback Toolbelts instead so I'm tapped out atm.
I have 17+ Ridgid boxes. They are great for the price and I've walked into Home Depot and traded out a couple who got bent or broken from accidents on the job site. Replaced them no questions asked. Ridgid just needs to make some decent drawer units!!! Keep it coming Ridgid!
I’ve had the Ridgid system for probably 5 years now and those boxes have been through rain, snow, hail, thunderstorms, temps barely above zero, and to 120 degrees. They still seal, they still protect my tools, and I couldn’t be happier. The best thing is I can strap the bottom box down and snap the top boxes to it in the bed of the truck and have no concern with then coming apart.
Very good value for price for sure. But the wheeled one is not reliable (the telescopic handle). You have to handle it carefully. Everything else is great. I hope they release more stuff like milwaukee
When I was shopping for one of these systems, I purchased the Milwaukee system ONLY because the connecting latch system on the Ridgid system looked like it would wear out in about a year with regular use. I say this because while the "handle" half of the latch is metal and VERY durable, the catch side is only plastic that will get filled away each and every time you take the boxes apart or put them together.
Thanks Vince!... So a few years ago I actually found vcg RUclips channel because I was looking for modular tool storage boxes and found your videos reviewing the different brands.... And I never left

I've been doing this with the stacking rolling husky bags for years. One handle on the big rolling bag, the other bags slide on the handle. Easy to put in the cab. Easy shape to carry by your legs with the cloth handles, no lid to mess with, lots of pockets. Don't even have to close them ever, just not waterproof. The only way I'd have a solid storage is if it had drawers. Dewalt has been doing van racks for years and I don't know why that couldn't be mounted to a hand truck.

5:15 I wonder how well this (and other tool boxes) would hold up to a firehose test 🤔, for that heavy rain/winds and such that places get when rains etc…. That’s 2 nice things about FL: don’t need memberships for steam/dry saunas; as the weather outside creates them for us😉 …and 10 seconds later…..it’s over, lol. Do think the new rolling boxes (and the packout drawers) are a nice “complement” to the storage system of choice; and not a “and/or” type thing. Least for me anyways, seeing that the drawers don’t have gaskets; which wonder if possible to make air/water tight 🤔. So, do like seeing new boxes being released that help make a storage system “better” and allow for larger tools to fit a lot better; cuz trying to get jumbo nailers, SDS drills, , levels, accessories, etc…into some boxes can be challenging at times. Having OPTIONS is never a bad thing, imo👍🏻 Thx VCG for the vid, cheers✌🏻

Qbrick System One can do that (it's a Polish modular storage system and it's pretty awesome, if you'll ever be able to get your hands on it I would love to see your review on it)!
6:17 That is true, least I know it does for cellphones, etc… It’s one reason why the OnePlus phones don’t have an IP rating at all, even though when after tear downs and reviews; the phones have gaskets and water Ingres protection(not sure about being submerged and how long will “hold up”). So, even though the phones can withstand getting wet, officially the phones are not waterproof or have any IP ratings, as it does cost money to get certified. note: (When was a partner in electronics repair biz, this is what we saw; knew about, but been out of that industry for some time now; so could be wrong)
Milwaukee is to complicated and latches to well. You have to take the boxes apart to move them on and off off your truck and jobs. I chose the Rigid years and years ago before the new Milwaukee system. The Rigid are durable and stack and unstack easilly . 👍👍
You carrying bags of concrete in your boxes or what?! Jack hammers and sledge hangers?! Lol I can't get 100lbs of tools and batteries in this thing, or my Milwaukee one. Now maybe if I had the crate loaded and clipped on the bottom I could hit 100, but I wouldn't try that with this piece, dumped tools a few times. The handle held fine, it's the latching system that clips boxes together that sucks.
Hey vince can you check with ryobi about their soft storage range that they have in the UK. Looks pretty sweet that should be available as well for Canada and the USA as well. Looks mighty sweet as well. I'm currently using husky version right now which does a great job.

That’s 2 nice things about FL: don’t need memberships for steam/dry saunas; as the weather outside creates them for us😉
…and 10 seconds later…..it’s over, lol.
Having OPTIONS is never a bad thing, imo👍🏻
Thx VCG for the vid, cheers✌🏻
I was holding on strong until you said "Seven years of good luck". Then, I broke like a little girl and I smashed that LIKE button. Then I waited, anxiously, and you were right. It WAS free. No charge! I'm feeling lucky already!
I’m a Milwaukee packout guy .Must admit that box is nice but hope you do a side by side Comparison with the Milwaukee 48-22-8428 PACKOUT Rolling Tool Chest
“No test would be complete without throwing it off the roof”
… Hail Mary‘s it into the next city…
🤣🤣
Haha in Polish this set can I buy in Castorama, self mark Magnuson. Cost about 65$ for this old trolley.
This guy is the NickMercs of power tools.
I got it like few months ago. Price point is really not bad.
5:22. They should use that shot of yours on their commercials for this product.
Just snagged one online. Have to pick it up in a few hours. Im curious if the other wheeled (22in) base box will lock onto this unit??? I will let ya know
Qbrick System One can do that (it's a Polish modular storage system and it's pretty awesome, if you'll ever be able to get your hands on it I would love to see your review on it)!
6:17 That is true, least I know it does for cellphones, etc… It’s one reason why the OnePlus phones don’t have an IP rating at all, even though when after tear downs and reviews; the phones have gaskets and water Ingres protection(not sure about being submerged and how long will “hold up”). So, even though the phones can withstand getting wet, officially the phones are not waterproof or have any IP ratings, as it does cost money to get certified.
note:
(When was a partner in electronics repair biz, this is what we saw; knew about, but been out of that industry for some time now; so could be wrong)
Milwaukee is to complicated and latches to well. You have to take the boxes apart to move them on and off off your truck and jobs. I chose the Rigid years and years ago before the new Milwaukee system. The Rigid are durable and stack and unstack easilly . 👍👍
The 100 pound limit is the deal breaker for me. I try to bring as much as possible in at once and that handle would snap in no time.
Wow! Lots of neat compartments, a tool buff would be happy!
dude vince just yeeted that box
Did that even scratch the box lol??? Ridgid to moon 😎
Hey vince can you check with ryobi about their soft storage range that they have in the UK. Looks pretty sweet that should be available as well for Canada and the USA as well. Looks mighty sweet as well. I'm currently using husky version right now which does a great job.
Will that box be about to fit the Milwaukee super hawg without going diagonally
Our store has like.. A very little amount in-store. The rest is online...
