I bought my first Ridgid Pro Gear box in 2015. Despite having a few scars from being tossed in and out of trucks for almost 10 years, it is still solid as the day I bought it.
Thank you for your real-world review. Your rugged, hardworking hands alone are the best indication of the durability of the Ridgid Gen2 rig. I am DIY woodworker and own several GEN1 Ridgid boxes. I'll soon be purchasing the drawer box. God bless.
Thank you for doing this update video. This is exactly what I was looking for. I'm currently trying to decide if I want to buy rigid drawers, Flex drawers or Klein. This has been a big help and I love that you showed the drag. I currently have packout drawers and I've talked to other people and all the packout drawers seem to drag basically empty. These look amazing compared to the packout drawers I've seen.
I'm A Plumber, plan on doing the set up like you have , 2 big drawers on bottom and 3 or 4 drawer on top , for hand tools , I got the 1.0 box's , but the drawer's I believe will make life so much easier and detachable wheels cart to switch things up with another box's depending what I'm working on
I’ve had the pack out boxes before. Drawers are so much more convenient. I can quickly get to something at any time. The detachable carriage is very nice to have as well. Enjoy!
Man great update. I remember now watching a few months ago the video of you making the wood top and the side case. I’ve got some things on my set after 2 months of use. I’ll need to make a video as well. Glad to see the update on yours since you remove them everyday whereas mine stay in my trailer. My hand truck attachment is still brand new. I searched high and low for extra drawer dividers and now I would not buy more of them lol. They don’t stay secure bouncing around at 80+ around Houston. Drawers so drag as well on mine. I try to keep the heavier items around the edge like in the fasteners drawer. These are by no means comparable to Milwaukee Packouts or StackTech but it was the right price. I’ve also had the older Ridgid cases from 10 years ago so the compatibility is nice. Now two variations that I think they are missing is the 3 equal drawers and the single large drawer. The 3 equal drawers are actually more useful for power tools like drills and impacts. The single for saws etc.. overall I’m happy. I have 1 - 4 drawer, 2 - 3 drawers, and 2 - 2 drawers. May add a second 2 drawer that I’ll modify to be a single drawer. Suggestion on the latches. You can use zip ties to either wrap around the handle, or around the plastic loop to give it more bite and tension on the spring steel things. Hope that makes sense. I had to do that to my Gen 1 boxes since they changed the profile of the plastic latching hooks. Appreciate the update and your time to making the video.
I get what you mean about the zip ties on the latches. I may try that sometime. It’s not a concern at this time as they don’t come apart though. But I’ll still try it.
Just got my drawers today finally! If the latch connection wears down over time it could possibly be "fixed" by taping around the metal bar a few times with electrical tape or similar to thicken the circumference and tighten the connection.
Great video! I have some 1.0 pieces and saw the 2.0 3 drawer today…having an issue with the drawer slide came loose on one drawer. Do these snap into place? No sure how to fix.
The drawer slides snap into place on the box itself, yes. If you’re referring to the drawer specifically, I have not investigated how that piece is attached.
Do you know if that 4 drawer will fit on the first system? I have wrenches in one short box, ratchets and sockets in another box... The drawers would be an improvement for me.
It seems the spring mechanism loosens up over time, yes. However, even with the “loose” latches, the boxes stay together just fine. The handles don’t fall over and separate the boxes.
From what I understand is they are compatible but there may be some subtle differences in depth or footprint. Probably best to take one of your boxes into the store and see how they work together.
I really don’t know. We can only hope as the original isn’t available any more, they are pretty slow on rolling stuff out in that line. I’m guessing they will but when they do it, is anybody’s guess
Thanks for posting update .Look forward to 6 month review .

Thank you for the kind words, enjoy your new box!
Thanks for the review. I have so many of tool box but not yet drawer. Having the draw will allow me to want to use it more.
Very informative and concise clean video. Great job. So far this is the leading contender for what I'm looking for.
Thank you for your kind words
really good video, looking forward to the next update

Glad it helped you!
Keep in mind, these drawers are not as spacious as the pack out drawers. I really enjoyed the space they provided when I had them.
@@TheJayHamish I didn't know you had packout first. Why did you switch?
@whosnext2005 3 reasons. 1, that color in my field gets filthy really fast and I like clean things. 2, the dragging drawers. 3, the price.
@@TheJayHamish other then the color thing, those are the same reasons I'm looking. Ridgid and Klein are my top contenders.

Great video man. Those latches eventually gonna go. They need to make them user replaceable.
Thanks for the update. I bought a set recently and like it.
Good to hear, May they serve you well!

Thank you for the input. I agree on them needing the 3 & 1 drawer option. I gave you a sub so I can see that video when you make it.

They are compatible. I’ve heard/seen many mention they are able to use them with their older stuff. I don’t have older stuff personally though.
@@TheJayHamish thanks, I may have to try one or bring one of mine to the store.
That would be the best bet. Good luck
The 2 drawer on 1st gen mid box.The new drawer box sets forward but side latches work.So the drawer front feet is off mid box 1st gen. Weird
That is odd.
Have you had it in the rain? I’m curious if water will get into the drawers because I’d need to keep mine on the back of my truck uncovered.
Yes, I have. Not like a torrential downpour, but a light rain to a quick but moderate shower with no problems.
Same! Just think of a way to lock it down because it's a mobile and appealing easter basket to a thief.
The only thing I have concerns about this system is that the clips on both sides will be worn out after a while. Can u correct my issue or am I right?

I see this was about 3 months ago. How's it look 6 months in?
I need to make a 6 month update. Both bottom drawers drag quite a bit.
Are the new boxes compatible with the first ones l am to cheep to buy a new set but would like to find a 4 drawer to replace one in my stack
From what I understand is they are compatible but there may be some subtle differences in depth or footprint. Probably best to take one of your boxes into the store and see how they work together.
Why are you doing these updates ? I'll be honest, your first video already sold me on it lol
Because some were asking how they were holding up.
@@TheJayHamish no partner program with Rigid or HD?
@@NZIGNANTI nope
Do you think they will do a new crate 2.0?
