My wife has a 2004 Pathfinder and she got a p0455 code (evap gross leak, large evap leak). Took to the dealer, they changed charcoal canister, vent valve, purge valve. Then p0455 code went away, then we got p1456 code (small evap leak). Dealer then changed gas cap, still got p1456 code. Took back to dealer after 1 month, they charged $185 diagnostic fee, said it was stuck vent valve. I researched, bought new fuel tank pressure sensor and vent valve. I installed both, still got p1456 code. On my work day off, I got under car, removed canister (I tested it, good). I noticed rubber hose coming from gas tank to canister was stretchy, so I bought new fuel hose. I cut back a little bit of the purge line rubber hose (it was stretchy). Also I bought new clamps (ones where you use screwdriver to tighten). Installed the new fuel hose (that connects to the canister), 3 new clamps for the 3 hoses that attach to the canister (vent, purge and fuel). Bingo!!! No more codes pop up (no more CEL check engine light). No more evap leaks. Hope this helps somebody.
Why the dislikes people??? He didn't have to do this for us. Let me guess...His voice is annoying...No wait the camera is shaking..Blah blah blah. Show some appreciation people!
I counted 38 times. Anyone else get a different number?..
Thank you so much for this video.... life saver
Excellent, thanks!
Great video, very interesting 👍🏿
@ 6:08 you can loosen that screw that’s holding the canister and slide the canister back for easier access plus drop spare tire
Essentially that would help
100% correct. Easier and speed up the process
Lower the spare tire and remove the screw... Mine was so rusty I had to cut the screw but I replaced it with a bolt and lock nut...this is the best way. Canister can be moved very easily.thanks
You gave the best answer...I did everything from the rear of the vehicle...jacked very high on stands.Code cleared after test drive 12 miles. Thanks.
Essentially!!!!
The wire was rusted hard to take out and the 45 degree doesn't come out easy have to spray w40. Take out the tire and 3 bolt on the canister for better access. Take about 45+ minutes to finish
Great job , would a long set of hose pliers and needle nose help at all..
I changed this and it still reads saying large leak😢
Wouldn’t have it been much easier if you just took the rear drivers side tire off and reach in there? It’s still tight but battery sitting than laying.
Apparently if you remove your rear tire driver side, you have a better angle to get to the filter..
Hello Jeff, greetings! I understand you test drove it for a day and the service engine light did not came back on. So it’s been 3 years now, maybe you don’t even own this vehicle anymore, but I was curious, in the following days or months after this vent valve component installation was done. Did the service engine light stayed off? Thank you
Still running fine with that code not coming back. However I did have the dreaded P0420 Code: Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1) code happen to me recently - which is really a clogged or failed Catalytic convertor. I have more videos to upload which hopefully I will have time to do soon.
Will fuel pour out when I remove the hose ?
I found the genuine one for $20 to 30 on ebay , nissan part # 14935-JF00A, seems like the updated part as it has a larger metal body canister
My nissan pathfinder 2003 R50 has fuel smell after a long drive....could it be faulty evap canister ?
You aware of any codes? IF you smell fuel it would seem to be a EVAP leak somewhere, but given the age of the vehicle it may also be possible the canister filter is saturated - it is filled with carbon/charcoal to absorb fuel particles so they are not released in the air. Other possibilities are gas cap or vent valve (what I replaced in video). Worst case maybe damage or rusting to the fuel tank or filler - my 1998 mustang had bad rusting on the top of the tank, but never leaked - I ended up replacing it when I had to repair the fuel pump.
Never fill your gas tank past the point the pump stops the excess gasoline goes into the charcoal canister destroying it 😵
I'm having the same issue with my 2004 Pathy. Did you fix the issue?
At 7:12 the white plastic clip in the middle of your screen.. does anyone know how to take this off?? Thanks in advance
Why would you want to remove it, to give it more length?
About how long was the process?
sorry to be so offtopic but does someone know of a trick to get back into an instagram account..?
I stupidly forgot the account password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me
@Dakari Luca Instablaster :)
@Tommy Graham I really appreciate your reply. I found the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now.
Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
@Tommy Graham It did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thank you so much you really help me out :D
@Dakari Luca you are welcome :)
that is one rusty truck. i have been in some states were they will not pass a tech inspection and you are ordered to remove it from the road
I think we need a few more "essentially"s. Man, I don't know if you realize it or not, but you have a habit of saying "essentially" so badly, you lost my interest less than halfway through this video.
First world problems huh
@Maya Machete potentially essential, lol
Find another video..I found it and thank you
