    I remember reading a fun analysis of Keith vs Joey addressing the manga death.
    Joey and Keith are foils of one another; both people down on their luck, and plagued by similar things. Joey's father was a drunkard gambling addict who was implied to be abusive, and Keith himself had those vices.
    Both of them also play gambling cards.
    But Joey came out of his troubled life with honesty and good intentions, while Keith did the opposite. Joey persevered after his turning point of befriending Yugi, and Keith's sins got him killed.
    Great stuff.

    In a related note, the whole "Bandit Keith being controlled by Marik/Rare Hunters" scenario was part of a different arc in the manga. The abandoned warehouse and Yugi trying to reassemble the Millenium puzzle while everything was burning down actually happened during Duke's introduction arc in the manga, which by itself differs greatly from the anime.
    It's funny how drastically different are the anime and manga, while at the same time covering the basic story pieces (incluiding the 1998 anime, had it been continued i'm sure it would have it's own set of drastic changes).

    Him being dead is still an ambiguous notion, tho, considering that the Paradox Brothers _also_ show up there, and yet _they_ turn up apparently no worse for wear - or any older - in the first multiplayer duel of GX. And people can't pretend that "season 4 is non-canon" as tho _that_ matters for the anime, as again, GX: Pegasus is established as alive and an ally in that season, and is still so down the stretch.

    Something i loved in one of the gba games was that you had the option to befriend some of the "not actually evil" antagonists like Rex, Weevil and Bonz.
    After you defeat Keith in the story (it follows the anime plot so you duel his Marik controlled version) you can find him hinding on a warehouse depressed. You have the option to cheer him up, tell him to let go of his grudges and start his dueling career again.
    After that he thanks you and becomes some sort of practice partner to the protagonist, you get to practice against a pro and he gets to practice before going back to tournaments and stuff.
    I tought it was pretty cute they added that, i always liked Keith and felt his story was a bit tragic, so getting to see him reform in at least one version of the story is pretty nice.

    8:17 It's possible that he's dead in the anime but the key word is "Possible" I wouldn't put too much stock in the S4 scene and instead take it with a grain of salt, seeing how the Paradox brothers (Dox and Para) are there but Atem didn't mind crush them in the anime (at least not in the English dub) and later on in yugioh GX (Which takes place a few years after the original arc) we see them make a cameo in a tag team duel against Jaden and Cyrus and based on their introduction by Dr. Crowler, it seems they went on to be a somewhat infamous and successful pair of professional duelists that specialize in tag team dueling after duelist kingdom.

    Great video. I also don't mind his death in the anime but I would like for them to show us what exactly happened to him after he ran out of the burning warehouse when he lost to Yugi. If Marik sent his mind to the Shadow Realm, I wish they showed him doing so. It would have been an early indicator of just how dangerous Marik can be since at the time, all of us were wondering who he was.

    You know, in the dub they created the infamous Shadow Realm but sometimes the Shadow Realm was darker than death. Tortue is worse than death, no? Basically sent to hell or a graveyard with a grim reaper following you the whole time, i.e. Bonz and his friends. Or Mai Valentine gonna SLOWLY drown in sand while her memories were SLOWLY vanishing before here.

    Yugioh is one of my top 10 favorite anime. The card game is awesome. Dark Magician Girl is one of my favorite waifus😍👍🏾👌🏾. I have the manga of Season 0, Duelist, Yugioh R and Millennium World. Yugioh R is so awesome. I just wish that the Yugioh anime would’ve followed the manga and got a proper English dub, including Dan Green, Vinnie Penna, Eric Stuart, Amy Birnbaum, Greg Abbey, Megan Hollingshead, Ted Lewis and etc as the cast. If the anime would’ve followed the manga, we would’ve gotten an anime adaptation of Yugioh R. Other than that, cool:).

    Bandit Keith might not have died in the anime, since other characters like Weevil (who is alive in the next Season) and especially Yugi, were seen in the Stone Wilderness. Perhaps Keith just had his soul taken like the others. Or maybe the anime creators decided they did want him dead after all, or just did this as a nod to the manga readers.

    It is a shame as Keith was a good foil for Joey.

  • @13KuriMaster

    I don't think that his spirit being in that area in season 4 was an indication that he was dead... in fact, despite what was being said, I don't think we are actually seeing Souls here, reasons:
    1) We see Yami Marik there, while he is gone for good now, he isn't like the other Yami's and was never his own being with his own separate soul that was in the same body as his non Yami-counterpart... he was just a split personality. So there shouldn't be a Soul of him here to wander in that area
    2) We also see Para and Dox there... who were given no indication of being deceased at any point, make a cameo at the end of the series alive and well (and dueling on the Great Wall of China) and even reappeared in GX... so there is no reason to believe that they died and are dead at this time.
    3) Yugi and Weevil have their souls trapped in the Oricalcos at this time, so how can those be wandering in this area at all?
    That stone wilderness area might need an in-depth theory all to itself to be honest, but given that the purpose of that area (at that time) was for Yami to confront what he did, I think that those were just illusions created by the area as looking through his head or something before settling on an Illusionary Yugi.

    Initial thoughts at the start of the video: What are you doing looking at that poster? Are you implying that Bandit Keith is secretly a Giant Rat?
    In the 4Kids dub, it still looks like Bandit Keith is holding a gun. It's just invisible.
    Meanwhile, in my imagination: Bandit Keith started gambling with the hope of winning enough money to afford therapy. When he failed to do that, he tried to win it in Duelist Kingdom, but he lost the gamble and died.

    I saw YuGiOh at a very young age. Before reconnecting with the franchise again, Keith was one of the few characters I could remember in both looks and personality. I personally never liked what they with him in the anime, as Keith was a minor antagonist, but he was no one's servant. I much prefer what they did in the manga, watching Keith go the way he lived was poetic.

    @sagia4645 3 года назад

    Kinda sad you didn't go into R, actually. I think the R story-line with Keith is a really good one, especially the way it ends.
    Keith is definitely an interesting character. If Pegasus had actually played against him, even if he beat Keith on his own, Keith probably would've turned out completely differently. A really great tragedy when it comes to that character. There was a lot more potential with him, I think, but while the manga (especially R) utilized it greatly, the anime barely did. So unfortunate.

    @REALmikegordan 3 года назад

    Well, Para and Dox were also lost souls, and yet they reappeared later on during the end credits for the series finale, and even resurfaced in Yugioh GX. It's very likely that the "Lost Souls" are a combination of people who either died or had lost their souls to the Seal of Orichalcos by that point in time. It's heavily implied that the Rare Hunters are dead, but we also know that both Yugi and Weevil had lost their souls to the Orichalcos. What we do know is that all of these lost souls have direct ties to Yami Yugi...except for Bandit Keith himself.

    I feel that just because he was seen in the Stone Wilderness doesn’t mean he’s dead what with Weevil and Yugi being in that Wilderness, maybe he was beaten by Mai between the duel with Pegasus and her duel with Joey. Also, he did survive through the end of Project R.A., and was given a chance to redeem himself by Joey. I will admit to him maybe being dead by 5ds and for sure dead by Zexal, but I don’t think he met his end before and/or during GX!
