I can honestly say that over the last 20 years, this has been one of my top favorite bands throughout that entire time of my life. I've had so many ups and downs in all of those years, and Jimmy Eat World has always been the soundtrack for my life. I'm so grateful for this band and I hope they know how much they mean to me. It breaks my heart that I've never had the chance to see these guys live, but I cling to the hope that the stars will align and my twin brother and I can see them before they call it quits.
I absolutely agree. I've been with them since Bleed American came out while I was in High School... Never really took the step to see them live... I guess for many years, the opportunity was there, I just didn't realize I could just hop in a car and go see them... I was always "too broke" "too busy", etc... I saw them for the first time right after a traumatic breakup with a girl Inwas going to marry (who cheated on me with my best friend.) J.E.W was something thwt really tied her and I together, as they were our favorites. I was crushed, and instead of telling myself "no", I decided from the moment that relationship and friendship ended, that there was no more excuses. I finally had a chance to see the country and do whatever I wanted to do... That was 2013, over a decade into my love for J.E.W... and I figured what better way to start healing and get retribution than to go see them WITHOUT her, since we had talked about it many times... I went to see them.in Charlotte and it was very emotional, FINALLY seeing them live and in person. I bought tickets a few weeks later for their Asheville show, even closer to my home. Soon after my (now) wife and I got together. I've seen them live on the "Futures" 10'th anniversary tour, and a total of 7 times... Believe me when I say, you MUST go see them... find a way... do whatever you can, because I missed out on it for so very long... Hell, tickets aren't even that expensive usually... $30-50 apiece depending on the venue... take a day or two, drive out and catch a show and get an affordable hotel for the night... DO IT!
@@ChrsGuit Thanks for sharing your story man. I'm so sorry to hear about what happened with the first girlfriend cheating with your best friend, but it sounds like things turned out for the better, and the fact that you were able to heal and not let your memories of the past ruin J.E.W. for you is really awesome. I'm not giving up on seeing these guys yet, if they're within a day or two of driving and I'm able to do it, I won't let it pass me by. Thanks again for sharing the inspirational story of you and Jimmy Eat World.
I read a message Jim wrote about the creation of this song. This is like real life, like thoughts and feelings of mid adulthood. Jimmy Eat World is a great friend to grow up with, to grow with. Always there.
Seems clear that the lyrics are about us, as a human race - continually falling for the same lies. The 'American Dream', war, reality shows, politicians, the wealthy, news. It's all manufactured lies, and people keep buying it. He's saying, we can be better, and happier if we only tried to be more honest with ourselves.
This is a prime example of why Jimmy Eat World’s more delicate, moodier side is so special and my favorite side of them. 23, Be Sensible, Table For Glasses, Over, Disintegration, the original Your House, Polaris… I could go on. Thank you for this gorgeous piece, fellas!
The Stay on my side Tonight EP was a torch for me in a rough time while going through a breakup. It was the first breakup I initiated because I could no longer trust the person I was with and had to stand on my own.
Jim always looks like a stranger who would sit beside you in a park and randomly tells you everything is and will be okay while maintaining a steady eye contact.
It's been 26 years since I got to listen to you guys for the first time. I finished elementary school, graduated from high school, got my college degree, went through more than 10 jobs, I've traveled to half a dozen countries, I've lived in 3 of them, I've moved atleast half a dozen times, gone through several relationships, moments of joy, moments of heartbreak, moments of depression, tear and laughs, births and funerals, heck I even got to live a full pandemic. People have come and gone, yet you guys are still there making headbangers. Another masterpiece by a band that, like Jimbo, ages like fine wine. Keep it up, Jimmy Eat World.
When so many other bands have come and gone in my playlist through the years, Jimmy Eat World is THAT band I’ve grown up alongside. Their music spoke to me as an awkward middle schooler, and continues to do so now that I am a husband and a father.
Hot take: if this song and something loud is any indication of where the band is going artistically, the next album is going to be Clarity/Futures level good.
That would be great. I’ve been a big fan of everything from Static to Invented. Everything since has had some good tracks on each record but I can’t listen to the whole record all the way through.
The thunder at the end shares a symbolic message, in my opinion, that we should never wait until it’s too late to ask ourselves where we have placed our debts. It’s vitally important to do so because time is a precious commodity that only moves forward.
Forever and ever and ever my favorite band. Thank you Jim, for being there for me through my entire life. I have a Jimmy song for every big moment, happy or sad. I never get tired of your music.
Perfect. Beautiful. Sad. Strangely hopeful. I don't know how they do it, but Jimmy Eat World keeps putting out the most consistent top-quality music of any band I know of.
Bleed American was their "Magnus Opus". Pure perfection from the first to the last note. It really deserves its place in the Top 100 Rock Albums of all times in Roling Stones magazine.
This is beautiful. A song that just came out, and now I can't imagine Jimmy Eat World without it! I read Jim's writeup on their site, "The 'Debt' you rack up is the time you spend avoiding doing the work to know yourself. You buy an ending every time you start something, and the cost is determined by how closely you pay attention to your personal condition." ("Be present in your time along the way.") Makes me think of the saying "breathe into it" rather than resist (pain, etc.) and how acceptance is actually more active than passive. 2:30 in I got so emotional. The sound is so good.
I don't know why this song made me tear up, I love your music and I've been listening to your guy's music for as long as I can remember. About to be 19 and you've been my favorite band my whole life :')
I’m about to be 39 in November. I feel the same way. This band speaks to a lot of people of different ages. All of their albums are good, but listen to Clarity. After a few listens you will understand how good these guys are.
not a single other band on earth has helped me through my life the way this one has. it's been 21 years since i first heard the middle and i fall more in love with their music every day. this song is so gorgeous, the lyrics cut as deep as anything from futures, im just beside myself once again and so thankful i have this band in my life.
The last shot 🎥 is especially sublime. “The ‘debt’ you rack up is the time you spend avoiding doing the work to know yourself…”Jim Adkins. And I know that feeling all too well and always fighting it. Another gorgeous track plunking away at and exposing my emotional landscape.
The video fit the mood of the track perfectly. Especially the thunderstorm in the shot right at the end. A beautiful song from a band that has never done otherwise.
Best song they’ve dropped in 10 years. I’ve always held out hope we might one day be blessed with Clarity 2 Electric Boogaloo. I know they’ve grown since then, but the emotional aspects of that album are still unmatched by any band to this day.
@@titotrankifreski sure there have been good songs but I just like that they are using a bit more of the melodic sensibilities of Bleed American, Clarity etc…this song feels a bit different from the last few records to me.

The chorus is something to think about and take at heart to: "How do we keep making all the same mistakes? We’d rather have the misery than growing pains."
I'm 36. In High School, my best friend, and first love, tragically passed in a car accident. She was brilliant. 32 on ACT in 10th grade, beautiful singing voice, honors student...literally, an amazing person. She was a well loved, extremely accomplished young person. We tried to start a band in high school (as most music nerds try), and one of the only performances we ever did was "Hear You Me" at a local talent show...... I was told that participation trophy was one of her most prized possessions. Thank you JEW
I absolutely LOVE this band... I love that the music has grown with us all, going through break-ups and getting older and just living life.... They just keep getting better and better.
Still one of my favorite bands. Love that they've slowly evolved their sound over the years. One of the few I've seen live that actually sound better than their studio albums. And the fact that it's still basically the original members has always been amazing to me.
What a beautiful song, yet again. Really hope all the locations in Germany that are shown mean that these guys are gonna come here soon. Would love to finally see them!
This is a song that I didn't think much about when I first heard it, but I found myself singing it randomly and had to replay it again and again. It's really good.
These guys kick started my love for music and I will forever be grateful. Is it me or does the line "The driver and passenger don’t go the same place" just hit close to home?
Everything you guys put out is pure gold. Lucky to say I've seen you live four times and each time was absolutely amazing. Definitely one of the best-sounding live bands I've seen.
A new Jimmy Eat World song as I'm randomly browsing RUclips?!? What a pleasant surprise! My life is consistently better because you guys make music, thanks for even more, and see you next time you're in Cincinnati!
A band that hasn't stopped entertaining me since the game NHL 2003, specifically, probably everyone knows what song it was. It's incredible that you still go for your style and stick to it, and I'm very happy that this is the case. I wish you many more years of producing quality music and thank you for that.
I enjoyed the footage of Luxembourg and Hamburg. I also liked that you can tell Jim threw this together on the same camera, because many shots have the same two dirty spots on the lens. :)
Love that you shot some of this on your tour and got excited to see Berlin. ❤ Also loved the little intro to this song in the newsletter, such a beautiful explanation.
Best band ever . Being a striving musician myself , I don’t know where I’d be in life if I had never heard them. The musician’s band I’ve always referred to them as. The band every other musician wants to be. Setting a pace , always 10 steps ahead of everyone else. Anything aside from them is just noise to me loo

How am I just discovering this single?
Jimmy Eat World always know how to pull at my heart strings. Truly incredible!
Reminds me of the On a Sunday video in Tokyo. Awesome job guys!
This sounds like something off Clarity and I’m here for it
Great song and video guys. So happy to see Jimmy Eat World's evolution.
One of the greatest bands of all time ! Thank you for continuing to create
Really enjoyed the song and the simplicity of the video. ❤
I absolutely LOVE this band... I love that the music has grown with us all, going through break-ups and getting older and just living life.... They just keep getting better and better.
WOW. I'm transported to 'those years' but mostly just filled with a new passion from the band's undeniable harmony and compositions.
Still one of my favorite bands. Love that they've slowly evolved their sound over the years. One of the few I've seen live that actually sound better than their studio albums. And the fact that it's still basically the original members has always been amazing to me.
Well congrats to Jimmy Eat World having great management to support them.
What a beautiful song, yet again. Really hope all the locations in Germany that are shown mean that these guys are gonna come here soon. Would love to finally see them!
This is a song that I didn't think much about when I first heard it, but I found myself singing it randomly and had to replay it again and again. It's really good.
how many vacations did he write off?! Amazing!
These guys kick started my love for music and I will forever be grateful. Is it me or does the line "The driver and passenger don’t go the same place" just hit close to home?
Been my favourite band for over 20 years now - and they are the only band who never, ever disappoint me. Their music feels like a part of who I am.
Everything you guys put out is pure gold. Lucky to say I've seen you live four times and each time was absolutely amazing. Definitely one of the best-sounding live bands I've seen.
20 years, still here, never disappoints
Amazing. These songs always come at a time when you need them the most.
Saludos a todos los fans de jimmy eat World desde 🇲🇽
Jimmy Eat World is special. Loved them since 1st hearing. Pure talent and heart.
Great stuff! Always such a pleasure listening. Thank you
every step-in life from 14 to 34 JEW hits me right in self-awareness in life.
This is how good music is made... the strong of this song makes my heart beats so strong
A new Jimmy Eat World song as I'm randomly browsing RUclips?!? What a pleasant surprise!
My life is consistently better because you guys make music, thanks for even more, and see you next time you're in Cincinnati!
Just started relistenung to you guys a few days ago. Good to see new music.
Jimmy is the best 🤘 but you must hear “Winding Road” by SLT 🎸🎧🔥
Love this song! You have a fan base here in Germany, but I also cant wait seeing you guys live in AZ again!!!
Jimmy is the best 🤘 but you must hear “Winding Road” by SLT 🎸🎧🔥
" How do we keep making all the same mistakes ? We'd rather have the misery than the growing pains " Pretty much sums up the last 30 fucking years.
Great video and song.
Keep up this amazing positivity. It seeps out of the lyrics and always has. We need this more today than ever.
Jim never ages! Been here since 2000 and he still looks young!
Wow. Just, wow. The lightning at the end.. Jimmy's earnest face throughout. Thanks guys, this one is priceless.
Omg I love Jimmy Ear World after all these years still. Jimmy Eat World's music speaks to your soul. 🖤🎶
My favorite band since I was 12. I’m now 34, about to be 35 soon. On the, and it will never change.
Wow. This song is banging! Jim, both you and the band are ageing like fine wine! Beautiful video guys!
A band that hasn't stopped entertaining me since the game NHL 2003, specifically, probably everyone knows what song it was. It's incredible that you still go for your style and stick to it, and I'm very happy that this is the case. I wish you many more years of producing quality music and thank you for that.
Jimmy is the best 🤘 but you must hear “Winding Road” by SLT 🎸🎧🔥
See you guys in Mesa on the 28th, so excited!!! Coming from Illinois for the show, worth it every time.
LOVE everything about this video and song!! Saw them live in 2017 and they sounded AMAZING. Cant wait to hear this live!
I enjoyed the footage of Luxembourg and Hamburg.
I also liked that you can tell Jim threw this together on the same camera, because many shots have the same two dirty spots on the lens. :)
This band just continues to evolve and make great song after great song, I have seen them four times live and I am thankful for every single time!
What an absolutely amazing Song!
It's crazy. when we were jammin these cds back in the day. talking to you guys would have seemed IMPOSSIBLE to do. back in 03 and 04 etc. 05 too. now I get to post messages for you guys at will
Love how this video is shot at so many different locations (or they used a green screen but don't think so..). Great song as always!
Beautiful song and video. Love JEW!
Great song! Great video! Thank you for your dedication to your craft, the entire band, I love it all!
Great song, as a returning student felt each word. Needed something like this. Thanks!
Glad I grew up with these guys.
