There’s something so beautiful about women coming together, sharing their stories and being a source of encouragement to one another, Jessica Nabongo and I buckle down for some honest conversation on our journeys, period stigma, and fibroids. Enjoy the talk!

Thank you ladies for talking about this. I’ve known many that have had hysterectomies due to fibroids and I just found out in my 40’s that I have fibroid! Joined the fb group.

Thank you so much for bringing awareness to this topic. I began to research and speak with my mother and grandmothers and aunts… we never discussed it .. but we are all suffering in silence. We all have fibroids. Not to sound off or weird.. but something gives me a deep feeling that the reproductive systems of people of color are being targeted (to slow our reproduction) this isn’t proven … but the foods we eat the hormones in the food … I feel is impacting our reproductive health … and I think it’s intentional. I don’t have the proof ..I don’t know where to start … or how to research this .. but something has to be done. I’m thankful that my doctor here in atlanta, who is African, and she has also had a myomectamy and she fully understands how this us disproportionately affecting the African American community. 🙏🏾 it’s been such a stress.

This is one of the most informative and insightful conversations I've listened to in a while. When you threw in the "you are fine" line from the doctor, I advised myself to go back to see a doctor with a gun since I always get the "you are fine" line with my irregular periods and family history. I am super proud to have women like you in Ghana.
