One thing to come from this disaster : rebuilding with fireproof foamcrete, steel and carbonfiber mesh... no wood, no cloth, nothing flammable. Complete rebuild of all electrical lines UNDERGROUND, and reinforced, hurricane and fireproof new construction will prevent this from ever happening again.

t's actually a pretty simple explanation. Trees hold moisture, so only the dry, dead ones burn up quick. It actually takes a little bit of time for big trees in a tropical environment like Maui.
