I will always have a soft spot for Robles. Even though he never panned out to be Ronald Acuna, he still won a WS for my Nats and played great defensively for a few seasons. I wish him the best of luck in Seattle
So far as a mariner, in 22 games/ 38 PAs, his slash line is 355/444/581. 1.025 OPS, which is the best on the team ATM. (okay, miniscule sample size I know, but it'd be hilarious if Seattle of all places is where he puts it all together, and as a fan he's been a welcome sight considering how cold the rest of our bats are)
@@SportStorm23 this current mariners era has developed a "fittingly weird" trend of bringing in power bats that decline here (Jesse Winker, teoscar Hernandez, all 3 2B we've traded for since 2021), while somehow fixing up struggling guys out of nowhere (Eugenio Suarez, Josh Rojas, and maybe now this guy).
Man, I remember playing MLB The show 20 and I was a picther and signed a free agent contract with the Orioles and they had signed Victor Robles me and that dude finished our careers on that team and I have been a fan of his ever since. It's been a shame to see him not live up to the hype
Since being picked up in June by Seattle, he’s contributed in several games here & there. As a backup OF he add some depth but recently he should get more playing time than Mitch Haniger who’s been disappointing. Don’t expect to have a high ceiling from what he was projected to be but he’s doing fine (for now) with the M’s.
@@cococock2418 since joining the M's he's slashing 355/444/581 with a homer and 3 rbis 4-0 in steals and has played a great OF thats elite as of now dumbass
He's hitting .450 over his past five games at the start of August..... He's batting .367 with the Mariners so far this year, on about 80 at bats with 3 HRs and 10 sbs This may be a classic case of the need for scenery change
And 2 Weeks later he wins The American League Player of the Month in July & raises his Season batting Average to .400 (He's got even hotter since this video came out)
As soon as I saw this, I thought, it's got to be Victor Robles...I had put together card collections of all those guys you mentioned, and made good money off all of them- except Robles, I'm still stuck with all the Robles cards haha
I wouldnt put Vladdy on the same level as those other guys. Yeah hes good but really just has the 1 amazing year in 21 otherwise hasnt been near that or the consistent great that the others have been
The classic good field/no hit player/unable to adjust to MLB player/AAAA player. A team with plenty of hitters could sign him just for the glove. Otherwise, a bench player.
Its kind of embarrassing that i was more comfortable in a fire fight than i ever was standing in a batter box. Not that i was comfortable doing either. Granted, i was deployed after i was 18 and played baseball before 18. I was terrified of getting hit with the ball. I played every other sport just fine. I don't know how you people do it.😂
When I was in little league, our coach showed up to practice one day with a bucket of tennis balls and we practiced getting hit by the ball while batting. It helped enormously!
I would like to see him become a straight contact hitter similar to Tony gwynn style. I think he could do that for some time even if his speed slows down. Tho, I don't see it happening
Robles has actually been a fairly fine player for Seattle when he’s played. Maybe getting released taught he something he never figured out while in Washington.
2019 was the juiced ball era and I think Robles may have unfortunately attributed that to him being someone who can hit dingers regularly. TBF I think a lot of players may not have known 2019 was juiceball era until after the fact.
He will be a National forever for the championship year. They signed him young and he broke his body trying to make up for lack of skill. (I don't miss the absent minded base running) But we''ll still root for him like we do Michael A. Taylor wherever he goes as well.
The Nationals have been known to be behind in player development. I’m curious how much you think the lack of his development could be attributed to the team? I genuinely don’t know 🤷♂️ But I always loved Robles, and was def hyping him up in ‘19! I agree, we don’t win the Series without him
Unfortunately, he got a Future Stars card in MLB The Show 18, and all players who did are cursed in real life. (Totally not because their missions were all super annoying.)
I mean as a Nats fan he was the leader of that team. But all the stuff about him not caring about baseball was always present. We knew he hated living here too. Dude wanted to live in year long warm weather. If the Astros didn't have Bregman, he would signed there for sure.
I don't really think injuries are an excuse. So many snakebitten players are still productive with the bat, as he was in the minors. We'll see if we regret it, but as a Nats fan I'm glad he's gone. Michael A Taylor *always* was and still is a better version of him. I don't agree that we needed him to win in 2019.
Victor Robles as a Mariner reminds me of the run that Mickey Moniak went on with the Angels
He saw Soto batting and gave up...
Real
Covid got him fat

He’s been kind of awesome for Seattle, only 27, totally could lock it in as a real deal player
That's Mariners Legend Victor Robles to you.

That HR celebration with him and Soto was really cool though!
