    I’m so sorry people , I hate to do this but you can’t add dry flower buds to melt and pour soap ,, MP rehydrates the dry petal and it rots, it creates mold .. 🙈

      would it be ok to use coffee instead of flowers or would it do a similar thing? I was bought some melt and pour soap as a gift and not sure what to do with it.

      @@katiedale6635 I've added used coffee grounds to my melt and pour soap -- a little goes a long way, and you need to dry the coffee grounds thoroughly before using them. I let mine sit out on plate for a few days. It makes an abrasive soap that I find good for exfoliating. Careful not to use too much or it is a painful soap lol

      That's right the only flowers i use are Calendula and Oatmeal these are the only to ingredients that will not rot in melt and pour.

      The expensive Bath and Body Works aromatherapy soaps I purchased have the same raw ingredients *inside of the entire bar. No mold in shower and it's so beneficial. I do not know if they have lye but it states all natural and I have seen other flower buds (lavendar) on the top layer of melt and pour soap and it's fine.

    Dried lavender in soap can turn brown and ends up looking like mouse poop. It will take a few days in the soap for that to happen. I would be very careful of using lavender. It is said that using alcohol on them will keep them from turning brown, however it doesn't work. All other items to add in will work well!

    • @ouroilyhouse
      @ouroilyhouse  4 года назад +5

      Oh shoot! I wonder if it depends on the lavender? I have used them for awhile and mine didn't turn brown yet?

    • @lory2videos
      @lory2videos 4 года назад +2

      @@ouroilyhouse I believe it does depend. I belong to a lot of Facebook soap groups and they all say the same thing, to not use it due to turning brown. It may take a few days or even longer, is what they say. Sadly there are no guarantees on lavender.

    • @lory2videos
      @lory2videos 4 года назад +5

      @@ababytaleportraits1103 Usually melt and pour you don't have to let it age. However it's recommended to let it age a couple weeks or so as it the soap will last longer. Hope you don't mind I answered this! I have made a lot of melt and pour soaps and it's awesome! Literally can be used right out of the mold.

    I can’t find my last comment;) To add to it...I’ve never made soap before. We have a grapefruit tree in the yard. I dislike throwing away all of that wonderful smelling grapefruit peel. So I thought I could try making soap with grapefruit peel zest! Do I need to dry it out or can I use it fresh? The simpler the better. Which base would you recommend for this? I was thinking straight up castile soap? No allergies to note. Also how many drops of grapefruit essential oil? I wasn’t planning on adding any color to it. Thank you!

      Fresh flowers are going to get brown and yucky, because it's sitting in the soap while it withers so it isn't the best option. I think that dried flowers are not going the same effect and is going to be pretty. But they still are going to be inside the soap and it may stick to your body while you are using them.

    Can I do this in the microwave? I saw someone else do it but I don’t know if all soap can be melted in the microwave. Can it?

    Very nice soap dear. Have 1 Query. Does dry flower petals or buds will form any mold in soaps??

    Thank you very much for the recipe. My melt and pour soap gets some bubbles on the top after it solidifies. What should I do to avoid this problem.

    I made eight bars of this soap and i love, love, love it. First time making soap and i am so happy with it. My skin feels so nice and soft and the soap smells amazing. My one question is what can i do so the next batch is more sudsy? My husband likes lots of suds.

      I am so glad you like it! It depends on the soap base you use.

    Sorry to say.
    You go on talking about here and there, but you don't come on the topic. Making your viewers to wait long to listen the actual matter.

    I used melt and pour before and some lavanders to top it off. They turned brown eventually. Is there a right temp for melt and pour soapbase where it is ok to put dried flowers already and not turn brown?

    So did you leave the soap out or put it in the fridge?

      It can stay out at room temperature.

    Doesnt the dried flowers bother you when you wash your hands and what happens to it when using the soap - do they fall off?
    I would love to try the dried lavender but dont know about the buds...
