Please Taz read instructions on packaging. Most of the time frozen stuff is meant to be cooked from frozen especially if it goes in the oven. Hope that helps.
Australian here for some avocado guidance! If you want to check an avocado is ripe you gently push in the little knob at the top and if it's soft then the avocado is ripe. Also Hass avocado's are green when unripe and black when ripe.
I can’t have dairy so Aldi’s vegan range is a life saver - especially the ice cream!!! It’s my go-to. The only thing that annoys me about “veganuary” is that it’s frustrating when good products disappear. I loved the vegan pain au chocolats since I can’t have normal ones but they were only in store for about two weeks in January and they weren’t suitable for freezing. They’re such a good on the go breakfast for me 🥺
Hi Taz, I've tried the vegan smoked salmon. I've been vegan for about 5 years and hated it (made me feel sick) but my meat-eating partner loved it - I think it was too convincing for me!
I wish UK's Lidl had good vegetarian range 😔 it's not awful but mine is definitely lacking but tbh most UK veggie food only appears in veganuary then disappears
I just realised that I have been watching her videos for over 8 years and its still the most calming, wholesome videos i can ever find on the internet. I never ever got tired of her content. I love the realism and relatability. Only youtuber i still watch without feeling any less excited
Taz you are just so sweet and endearing in your own cheeky way. Your lovely personality and quick wit humor make it a pleasure watching your videos. Thank you for being yourself, you are adorable ❤
hey taz, just a recommendation for whenever you make toasties, is buttering the exterior side, that way your bread will be more evenly cooked and much more scrumptious
Sometimes a vegan alternative needs a little help as it's a different ingredient - for example, the "cheese" is fine in a sandwich with some pickle, some vegan mayo, tomatos etc - it's fine for a ploughmans sandwich. When it comes to melting I find it's best to toast my bread first, then add a slice of "cheese" and microwave for about 40-50 seconds, the "cheese" melts better and is more authentic. The beef style strips aren't up to much straight from the pack - they need a little stir fry to bring out the flavour, when they become more palatable. The main problem with the pizzas are that they use a raw dough, so need cooking from frozen, but i've never had one that hasn't stuck to the tray. The flavours aren't bad though - although some may find them a little sweet. I personally just make my own pizzas.
As far as I know, the Chicken Burger from Burger King comes from a company called "The Vegetarian Butcher" - at least in Germany. So the Burger is actually not vegan, but as a vegetarian I do still enjoy them very much. In Germany you can buy some of their (Butcher) products in the supermarket. Would love to see a taste test of those 😊❤
I get dairy sensitive when pregnant first trimester I cannot tolerate any dairy at all! So soy cheese has been a go to at those times. So there are a lot of reasons to appreciate a variety of choices.
so for the vegan chicken (at least, i've not tried the vegan beef), it's best to fry it up with some things like lemon juice, salt, chilli powder etc. tastes much better than if it were cold/uncooked. and aldi's vegan salmon is quite tasty! does taste like the real thing! unfortunately only had it once though i think it was very limited but i hope they bring it back. other stores like sainsbury's, asda and waitrose all have vegan salmon, i think vegan salmon is something that's just tried and true tbh. apparently you can make vegan salmon with carrots
Frozen food has to be kept in the freezer. You can't complain about the pizza dough when you kept it in the fridge. These things have to go in the oven while they are still FROZEN.
I've tried the vegan salmon from Aldi and it's really good, super flavourful and tasty! I'm not entirely sure how similar it is to real salmon because I've been vegetarian for 10+ years but from what I remember it's pretty damn accurate! My personal fave vegan salmon is the Squeaky Bean one, but Aldi's and Asda's are reaaaally good too.
I'm glad you tried the food items because I would have walked straight past that Isle in Aldi. It's not very appealing to look at, and your face said it all taste wise. Keep up the great content 😊
So coronation chicken is super sweet and is usually a sandwich filler and definitely NOT a curry. So it’s kinda weird that out of all the dishes Aldi could have come up with they decided on coronation chickpea curry 🤷♀️ that’s just so weird bc you would never make actual coronation chicken curry 😂 it’s just not a thing!
The issue I find with vegan/Veggie options is that they lack flavour, like use some salt and pepper. We even have spicies etc which I'm sure are vegan too...
Honestly you should try the spanish brand its called HEURA and FLAX & KALE they make different types of vegan dish and its a life changer. Taste absolutely real 👌👌👌
At first, I was afraid that it would be a hidden advertisement for Aidi vegan. Considering that our girl is very polite and does not want to offend anyone, I can read her how to run away from here, do not even get close to this product.😂🥰
@@bixby451 yeah yeah we all get that she's used an automated male voice before but the one she used to use sounded different and a lot more robot like than the one in this video
The only decent vegan cheese option is Cathedral City Plant Based - I've been vegan for about 7 years & haven't had a cheese as close to 'normal' until i tried it. Have a taste!
A bit of advice if I may....The Aldi smoked salmon was only for veganuary. It won't appear again. All aldi cooked no meat is awful. There are very few vegan cheeses that taste ok, none that compare to the dairy ones. Try the frozen range, it's much better!!
I'm from Germany and vegan and I have to say I'm not a big fan of Aldi when it's about vegan stuff. Taz I would love you to try other vegan options :) maybe we can recommend some brands. I don't know if you have simply v in the UK ❤
Taz i would recommend trying lactose free cheese, it actualy tastes like cheese and meltwonhope this helps. [ i know lactose free isnt the same as vegan, its just a suggestion.]
Remember when they were telling us that processed foods are bad for us, yet now they are promoting processed foods under the guise of it being healthy because its vegan? I will stick to my whole foods. Veggies, Meats, Eggs, Dairy. :) These vegan options did not look appetizing. I would have loved to see the ingredient list.
From my perspective (as a vegetarian), the campaign of "veganuary" is not really about promoting more healthier options - even if veganism still faces that image - but offer more variety for vegan people. So I see it as a try-out opportunity and support for the vegan community, yet of course nobody has to change their diet because of that. Your meals sound delecious aswell! 😊
dont forget there are other reasons for diet choices than health :) a lot of people who eat plant based care abt animals or have allergies, this is a win for so many people.
@@Sophinea few years ago I got in trouble because my cholesterol was too low. Really depends on your personal choices. There are healthy and unhealthy people who are vegan and meat eaters too.
They never promote these vegan meats as “healthier” - being vegan does not equal being healthy! People are vegan for the environment, the animals and themselves. A vegan can have chicken nuggets if they want to have a lazy meal just like a meat eater can :)
I found out recently that figs aren't vegan and i am not sure how i feel about that as a meat eater. I was also thinking instead of Worcestershire sauce on a the cheese toastie (as it contains fermented anchovies), maybe try it with a small blob of marmite? I think if i were to become a vegitarian or vegan, i would have to cook it myself and meal prep. I do traditional cooking from scratch and i can't stand the ready meals as they add too much salt and sugar to hide the lack of spices.
Figs have a tiny insect that flies in and polinate the fruit, and dies in the process, but gets broken down by the acid in the fruit. I wouldn't really count that as non-vegan.
I'm not a big fan of meat replacement stuff. The texture is always weird. If you want a good vegan recipe, check out Rainbow Plant Life's Tofu Tikka Masala (and a lot of her videos) or Chetna's chickpea curry.
Never found a good vegan cheese, honestly. They all have quite an unpleasant aftertaste and a weird texture. My partner is allergic to dairy, so I've been on the lookout for a good one for years but to no avail. The Aldi one looks like a better melt than I usually see, so I may actually try this!
Taz I tried the salmon!!! I developed a fish allergy about 5 years ago and before that I loved salmon, so I was so happy to find it! Most frozn products would mention on the box that you need to cook it directly when frozen and not thaw or defrost it as the texture would change.

Violife epic mature is the best vegan cheese imo. Also Applewood vegan smoked and Cathedral city’s vegan cheese. Epic mature melts the best though
