1:28 command = ctrl (also i meant left click not right sorry)
1:41 option/alt = just alt
command + z = ctrl + z
on pc 1:28 is holding down the left click + ctrl+ dragging up/down the mouse
1:41 holding alt for the eraser and ctrl+z to revert changes

Tysm this was the best rotobrush tutorial I’ve seen. You fully explained the fact it needs to be the same rate as the comp, and that you can use it after applying twixtor, as long as you double click WHILST using the tool. These were not mentioned by others so I had had trouble using the tool but this clears it up for me! TysmXx

the brush just selects the entire photo after i try to do more than one brush stroke help!

press alt and start deleting around the person or object you want

UPDATE: idk why but it's working now. you just have to pre compose your video twice and then double click on your video in timeline and start masking in that pre composition if that makes sense

@@atlaf24 make sure you're on the cursor (v), double click your precompose clip, and then select rotobrush and double click your vid. should work
To many precompositions.... I'm lost.

do you have an effect like twixtor on the same pre-comp? you'll need to pre-comp it again if u do as ae won't let u mask ur clip with twixtor on it
@@starknstrange nope, I don't put twixtor. like on one half there's a pink outline but on the other half, there's no pink outline.

hi i’m having some trouble when i go to rotobrush my clip it says
frame rate mismatch or footage with fields found. for best rotobrush & refine edges set the composition to 29.04 fps to match the layer source
@@chloevlogs6585 Please look over the video again and follow all of the steps. The reason why I pre-compose my clips like I do in this video is to avoid this problem because ou need to make your rotobrush mask in a composition where the frame rate is exactly the same as the original clip’s frame rate, not the frame rate of your main composition. I’m pretty sure I do explain this at some point so I’d suggest just going over the video again and carefully reading all of the text and making sure you don’t miss any of the steps I show you :)

Does it matter how much the clip moves? Because I want to mask this one clip, but the person is turning their head around, does it still matter or no?
No, rotobrush is supposed to help with masking moving clips a little easier. You’ll probably just have to spend more time on the mask than you would if you had masked a clip with minimal movement

I'm still confused why did you pre composed three times.
I understand that the first one had the slo mo effect, but couldn't you work on the second precom with the other stuff. ¿Why did you created a third one?
as I stated in the video, roto brush needs to be in a composition with the same frame rate as the original clip. since my main edit composition was set at 30 frames and the clip was around 23.976 frames, it wouldn't have worked. by pre-comping it a third time, the composition would automatically change the frame rate to the original clip so then I could use roto brush (and you can't do masks with twixtor on the same clip)
starknstrange yeah I still don't get it, since the way I see it, you already precompose it a not just once but three , you are already working on a different composition rather than a the main one so I still no see the reason on pre compose it more than once (I mean I understand why are doing it, but not why multiple times)

No, but I think it depends on which version of ae you're using that determines whether you have it or not. I know there was another person on here that didn't have it as they had ae cs6 (i'm using ae cc 2017)
