    Just found this. Makes a change from men reviewing mics. Your choice of tests took me back decades to children's tv for both my children and myself.
    It's easy to hear how you came to be a voice artist. So clear and bright and focused. Without putting headphones on they both did well, but the 2020 did capture your voice better.

      Thank you for watching, and for your comment. I’m glad you liked the video. Growing up I hated my voice - I thought it was just me, then I realised that no one likes the sound of their own voice. But then I learnt how to control it and never looked back.

    Thanks for the comparison. Upon hearing your voice, it sounded so familiar and once I saw the other videos, it was obvious where I heard that before.

    Assuming the frequencies between 30Hz and 15kHz are balanced the same between the two mics, the addition of frequencies below 30Hz and above 15kHz isn't going to make a bit of difference, because those frequencies don't exist in human voices. That only matters for musical instruments.

    Beautiful voice and overall outstanding appearance, so thanks! The 2020 has an edge, sizeable when headphones used but worth the price difference only for singers, IMHO. I would rather be curious why are some reporting that the 2500x wouldn't work with the shock-mount that fits the 2020 perfectly. I cant get that...

    • @lyrabeins-stewartvoiceover2311
      @lyrabeins-stewartvoiceover2311  2 года назад +3

      You can try, but there are grooves in the at2020 that the shock mount snaps to therefore providing grip tp hold the mic in place, the atr2500x doesn’t have them. On top of that, the buttons on the atr2500x would probably be in the way of the shock mount.

    From my end it sounded like the atr2500x either had some pitch correction or your higher range sounded better on this mic. some parts sounded flat with the at2020. Just a theory and opinion. Great video

    • @lyrabeins-stewartvoiceover2311
      @lyrabeins-stewartvoiceover2311  3 года назад +5

      They’re separate recordings and I did go flat with the 2020. 2500x was not pitch corrected - my pitching was just correct that’s all. There’s no processing of any kind on any of these recordings. They’re all raw, bad pitching and all.

    Thanks for the video! I've got an ATR2500 (non-x, think this mic is older than some of my relatives) and was considering splurging on an AT2020USB+ for when the budget allows. I mostly chat online and stream but the notion of doing some voice work on the side is highly appealing. The 2020 sounded much clearer and had a bit more precise localisation (i.e. less of that very pronounced proximity effect on your 2500x recording), just think that it'll be better for singing overall. Also seems like the 2020 is less prone to clipping loud signals than the 2500x? That's one major issue I've had with the silver 2500.

    • @lyrabeins-stewartvoiceover2311
      @lyrabeins-stewartvoiceover2311  Год назад +1

      Thank you for your comment! The AT2020 for me has been a great workhorse and really offers great value in a USB mic. I have tried various USB mics and this is so far, the best, in my opinion. If you’d like to go the phantom power route (ie. connecting your mic to the computer through an audio interface), you might want to consider the AT2035. I’ll be posting a review on that mic really soon.

      If you don’t want to spend on audio hardware, then the at2020usb+ is a great all rounder. USB straight into your computer. But if you have audio hardware ie. an audio interface, you might want to look at the at2035. It comes with a shock mount and sounds great!

    • @lyrabeins-stewartvoiceover2311
      @lyrabeins-stewartvoiceover2311  2 года назад +1

      Shock mount can be purchased through Audio Technica authorised dealers. And yes, a pop filter is always a good idea, so plosives like Ps, Ts and Qs are less harsh. Mic technique is also important.

      @@BoxingBallNation the AT2020 USB + is better value in my opinion. It’s good for recording demos, practice and in future when you start getting work, you can also add on a suspension mount which is crucial for paid recordings. Of course you also would need to ensure you have a space low noise and some acoustic treatment as these mics are extremely sensitive. If your space isn’t to best in this regard, you might want to consider a shotgun mic. You can check out the audio Technica AT897 which is a tad more expensive than the AT2020USB+. I wish you all the best!

      To me, the better all-rounder would be the AT2020USB+. Some prefer a higher bit depth and sampling rate and if that the case, it’ll be the ATR2500xUSB. But the frequency response on the AT-2020USB+ is better, plus, its use is more scaleable, in that, should you prefer, you can use it with a suspension mount. So it really depends on what you want out of a mic. If you were to ask me which one I’d choose between the two, it’ll be the AT2020USB+. I hope this answers your question somehow. 😊
