Thanks for your video, I’ve had the X3 M40d for over a year and no one at BMW dealership could help me with charging advice the fob. Just got it on charging on my PC for the first time, fingers crossed.
Ps, wherever i put it in the car it’s never charged so you video was a life saver.
Great car... However the touchscreen key performance seems too slow and laggy...

Unfortunately, the key isn't made for practicality, it is made to tell the world that BMW has started to make screen keys.

Hi, My smart key (M8) wont fire up. I changed the battery that had completely died with 0V. Now the return icon at the bottom lights up, but nothing else is firing up.

@@VehicleValhalla Thanks for the information. Yes, I have the BMW app on my phone, just to figure out how to get it set up. Keeps saying that a code was sent and to check the messages under BMW messages but there's nothing there.

About a week with minor use on the charge and about 3 hours to charge it wirelessly.

Not all the keys have remote parking.
How can I open the car if the display key is out of battery and can't charge.
The battery will still have power to unlock/lock and start vehicle even if the screen powers off. Vehicles also come with standard fobs as well

We recently purchased a brand new X5, and it came with the standard key fob. I was wanting to know if a BMW display key can be used with the X5 or is it only for the 6 and 7 series ?
Glenn Johnson unfortunately the Display Key is only available on the 7 series
Glenn Johnson they are available on the new X5. I’m not sure if you needed a factory package, or you can also upgrade later on.
I have a new X5 coming July 19. It will include a display key as part of one of the extras packages I bought.
The key on the X5 is part of the Technology pack👍

One thing I can’t figure out, when you precondition the vehicle using the key, how does the car know what temperature you want? That option isn’t there?
When you use the auto start feature to pre-condition your 2022 BMW 7 Series, the car automatically sets the temperature based on the last settings you used. So, if you had your climate control set to a certain temperature when you last drove the car, it will use those same settings when you start it remotely. This way, the car's interior will be comfortable for you, based on your previous preferences.

Hi, got a 2020 630 GT with display key, never used it since I purchased the car, thought I would give it a try out, verdict totally a waste of time, no driverless parking, no horn feature to locate you car, all it does is heat the car up in advance, and tell you about services due, something that the screen in the car would tell you anyway.
Your key won`t magically make it park unless the feature is added to the car. But yeah, does the same as the MyBMW app.

The 12:11 setting was a “one-off” timer. The 1:32 was a repeating scheduled timer. There is also the Activate Now feature to start it immediately

I’m unsure, I would check with a BMW service center. I want to say the 2017+ 7 series came standard with a display key but the 2016 it was an option. If it was optional, there may be software/hardware components missing for the capability to be as simple as pairing the key with the car. Might be possible though

Ax Cn As much as you are trying to be funny, I don’t know what country you are in but owning a type of car like mine G30 5 series in Australia isn’t a simple buy, when you spend half the cost of a house on a car that’s basically a Taxi in Germany or England. Yes I understand that its not a Ferrari or like a E63 AMG, personally I don’t like those cars, I like the manufacturer and the amazing effort goes into building those cars. This/my car appeals to me very well for practicability, comfort, economy, safety, engineering, technology and overall nice looking vehicle. When I’m spending nearly 100,000km per year driving to and from work, my previous F10 535i never missed a single beat, even at 210,000km when I upgraded.
How much on average to program these keys?

I have one coming with my new X5. I am not convinced that this will be very user-friendly, not least because it is both large - clearly the average finger won't find it easy despite that - AND b) it won't hang on a key-fob. It rather smacks of technology for the sake of it. Now, if it had also been a phone, I'd have been more impressed. And lose it and I hate to think just how much BMW will charge for its replacement.
