Finally building up the courage to peek under the valve cover to see if my Jag has the updated timing chain tensioners made of metal or the suicidal OE tensioners made of cheese and crackers.....
Every person who has the balls to take this car on has my respect and subscription. Likes, too. Thank you
Thank YOU! I’ll show this to my wife 🤣👍
Done the chains twice now (2 cars - BOTH SNAPPED ! ) - 73 yr - OLD GIT
I'm hunting for the right xk8 convertible at the moment here in the UK so your struggles will soon be my struggles! Loving the videos so I've subscribed. Thank you.
Absolutely smashing sir jolly good show! Not quite beautiful. Mine's name is matilda
Haha thank you! I haven't gotten around to naming mine yet... maybe that would help!
nice result.
Result! I need to do mine. Scared.
Ha I know what you mean... I was so tempted to leave it and hope for the best! And I tried every stalker trick to find the previous owner and find out from them!
@texocat I've just bought a 2001 XKR today! No paper work to say these have been done, the car had not been started for over 6 months. I put a fresh battery on and it started right up, no noise, very smooth. So that's something at least?? Having watched this video if it's that easy to whip the valve cover off to check I think I will do this ASAP. I did drive the car home which was only 10 minutes along the road and it felt really nice, I didn't want to gun it but I put my foot down a bit a few times and it felt great. But these tensioner are a worry. The car has only done 64k as well
Theres a guy on you tube QDR i think that shows the whole process. watching him a few times has given me the confidence to tackle it. He's spot on and will reply to your queries. his name is Damian.
I had metal timing chain tensioners - ONLY! = I snapped a top chain (somehow??) and, after getting in there, the long chain guides / tensioners were NOT replaced

Anyone else hate seeing the dead leaves on the cowl? Why would you risk having crud fall into the engine?
Right?! 🤣🤷♂️
The green plate near the manifold means ur timing chain was replaced with a metal timing chain. God ✝️ Bless
Wow I wish I had known that beforehand… still it’s best to be sure! ✝️Thanks!
