xfce4 docklike plugin - Docklike Taskbar Install

In this video I will be demonstrating how to download and run my install script for the xfce4-docklike-plugin - Docklike Taskbar, which I created for a viewer who requested some help to achieve the install due to some difficulties making and building the file. I will also demonstrate the Docklike Taskbar in action including some of the settings/tweaks. Hope you enjoy the video.

I never understood the need to put a dock on Xfce since its easy to create panels. Plank has been available for those who really want a dock. Seems like the plugin is barely necessary. Thanks for the video anyhow.

Thank's for the video. I have not had time to try this, this week but I'll get to it soon. Or wait until some of the bugs get worked out. I do need it to work with flatpaks and Appimages.

That's fair enough Dan, I have worked out how to get the binary package of Firefox working, have attempted flatpaks, no luck yet.

you've run into the whisker key being mapped to super. that will override anything else. we work around that particular issue on MX.

I personally bind the whisker menu to ctrl+esc and bind ctrl+esc to super using xcape, it's a perfect workaround

So if would download and install the tar of Firefox I could pin it on the dock on MX?

You know how many times I've complained about the Whisker key not being mapped to super key, now this time it's a pain in the rear, Lol

I use it in zorin lite(xfce)(built-in in zorin lite), but there r certain apps or windows, don't show the orginal icons of it, like the window of panel preference(i get a gear icon) , 4k video downloader ,ventory app(i get gear icon in panel), ,thunar,nemo,etc..

Thank you so much for the script.
I was trying to make it but was having these dependencies problems.
My situation was choosing this "plugin" instead of Plank Dock. Since you would think this is lighter (a plugin) and you don't need to keep another process running behind.
In order to install this, I installed more than 400 MB of dependencies and things to the system. For a plugin! MAKES NO SENSE!

Thank you very much Colin, but this was a disappointment. Thunderbird and Firefox tar, could not pin on the dock. The deb I could. BTW my name isn't pronounced Johen, but Johun;)

You're welcome Johan! yes it's a bit disappointing that the tar/binary files don't work, early development I suppose, hopefully some improvements on the way. Sorry about the name pronunciation, I'll blame the native Aussie slang Lol

G'day Johan, I was messing about with firefox tar/binary package, I copied the firefox-stable.desktop file /usr/share/applications/firefox-stable.desktop into /.local/share/applications and I have achieved right click options with pin to dock with xfce docklike taskbar, it seems if it's in both places it works, hope this helps mate, still haven't worked out flatpaks.
