my ex mpp at a labour debate said that ppl on disability just needed some retraining, and they were sitting around doing nothing all day. cons always disregard disabilities as laziness.
to be on disability you have to become poor those that worked hard their whole lives are thrusted into govt sanctioned poverty.
housing they are slow to do, and of course lacks lower income and barrier free housing.
it was harris that cut assistance rates which still are below the poverty line and it threw a lot of ppl into the streets. only vote Green now.

That comment about her 5 year old nephew was particularly egregious. There are many, many people who were born very healthy, but later become disabled. Depending on private disability insurance is not enough. A lot of times, even when people have paid 100% of the premium for their disability insurance, the insurance company weasles out of its obligations one way or another. We need to look at CPP-D. We need to raise the pay out for sure. Who can live on about $1,000 a month, if you private company won't give you both your Extended Health Benefits and your disability insurance pay out? You are forced into taking a early retirement package rather than continuing to get your private insurance plan honoured until you are 65. I guess I should be thankful that the CPP premium was paid until my husband reached 65 when he was on CPP-D. I'm sick of the government, private employers and provincial governments and health units kicking disabled people to the curb!

Thank you for your advocacy. I am the parent of an adult child with moderate to severe disabilities. Thinking about his future is so bloody depressing. There's no funding, no housing and no homecare. I work night and day as his caregiver. What will happen if I die? I can't even plan into the future because our Ontario gov't is the gatekeeper for extremely limited housing. I was hoping that the CDB would be enough to perhaps band together with other parents and share resources to ensure his future care. But here we are, $200/mo. For someone with my son's needs, a f/t worker would be over $4000/wk. I feel sick about this budget ☹

Thank you Mike for advocating for people with disabilities. The Liberals have done so much for people with disabilities, like forgetting about them during the pandemic, or that time the Liberals gave a one time payment of $600 because they were called out for forgetting about people with disabilities during the pandemic. This program seems like it was a budget afterthought, and they put it in at the very last minute.

what a joke - $200.00/month (oh, excuse me - UP TO $200/month). By July 2025, that $200 will probably buy a disabled person a bag of oranges. How out of touch the Liberal government is with reality. Provincial disability benefits already claw back if a person gets CPP. I live in Alberta, if I could work, I would. Provincial benefits let you make $1000 before clawing back half, unless it's a CPP Disability Benefit, then it's dollar for dollar and no $1000 break. A disabled person cannot live with dignity in Canada right now at all. It's very sad and the Government should be ashamed at letting it's disabled citizens and seniors live in poverty with no dignity or pride. All we hear are more and more excuses on why this disability benefit is postponed, way below anything that's going to help and now they have to wait another year. What a crock.
