So the Witch Satoko basically became Lady Lambdadelta and separated from Satoko kind of like how Rika once said that it was time to stop being Fredrica Bernkastel in Rei?
Seems so... I imagine whatever being inhabits the pieces that are Rika and Satoko will appear again more prominently going foward in Ciconia whether "Witches" is the correct term to refer to them still we will have to see soon!
Nah, it's more like Lambdadelta took control of Satoko (She was in control of Takano in OG, that's why Takano has no role in gou-sotsu) and at the end, she returned 'Satoko' to the gameboard, the one we saw getting shot. Hope that clears it up.
The difference being that Bernkastel came from Rika, but Lambdadelta existed before Satoko, (as we know Takano is her piece from when the fireflies glow, and that was OG Higurashi so she already existed by then, and Sotsu wasn't her origin)
How explicit is that? Because the problem looks like it's deliberately kept vague. Like they allude to Umineko but don't completely commit to it.
@@robby7499 It is at least becoming less vague as time goes by considering Vier was directly referenced in New Higurashi, Vier being a character in Ciconia that seems to mirror at Takano but there is also another character named Jester which had a dramatic scene of a face reveal which seems to be similar to Lambdadelta it’s very hard to tell but I do think Ciconia is the main stage for these answers as New Higurashi felt almost like a side project when it referenced it numerous times..
Basically we don’t even know how Ciconia will “loop” yet with only one Phase out right now but I do believe it’s the penultimate answer to the pieces and game board referenced all throughout When They Cry and it won’t be vague to us anymore.

Good news is that the manga is going a different direction from the anime, and its question arcs are significantly better executed than the anime's.

Satoko is Lambdadelta
One piece got over a 1000 episodes and this gem got only 15 what a world we live in....

I'm so disappointed by Gou and Sotsu. Satoko was still so easily forgiven despite being a source for so much of Rika's suffering, even disemboweling her. Satoko ended up not being Rika's friend, but rather her abuser. And it's never discussed or solved. It sets a strangely horrible precedent for how to handle abuse when Ryukishi is usually much more careful about the topic. Satoko gets to take no responsibility for her actions because she still gets to have Rika in her life, and she never even seemed to try to fight her way out of the horrible violence she was MAYBE goaded into by outside manipulation. Now Satoko is just an antagonist rather than a beautifully strong and well-written character. If I accept Gou and Sotsu as canon then I have to accept that Satoko is just a horrible human being that doesn't deserve happiness, which is NOT what Higurashi was ever about. I hope the manga does much better.
I love how we saw the "Witch Satoko" taking over "Human Satoko" scene and then when Rika fights her she simply gives up like that and gets off the hook like nothing as if that scene was pointless (but then again, everything in Gou/Sotsu was).
Also remember the "everyone is starting to remember previous loop" thing? Never brought up at all (I guess fuck Rena's trauma when Satoko killed Ooishi in front of her).
The fucking sword that was important since Gou? Pointless.
There's so many things wrong with this, but all I'm going to say: What the fuck happened to Ryukishi? Not only did he forget that human Satoko was supposed to be dead (or repressed or whatever) because he tried to make Satoko sympathetic in her fight against Rika, he also shifted the blame to Rika because "muh you forced me to study" when it was her decision to support her dream at the beginning, and unlike Rika Satoko trapped her in an endless trauma conga line EVEN with the knowledge that she looped for 100 years before. But everything's fine people, because beating up your shitty friend who keeps gaslighting you is enough to forgive them for trapping you in worlds where you died gruesome deaths over and over and over and over again.
Also, funny how the club members had to put up with these two's shit. So much for Rena, Mion, Keiichi, Akasaka, Akane and Ooishi going insane.

I really don't care if there is a canon connection to those stories one way or another, but wtf was the meaning of Gou and Sotsu beyond marketing? I saw a YT video that pointed out the huge increase in sales for the VNs that came out of Gou and given the literal nothingness of this story I'm seriously thinking Ryukishi just wanted money. Which is fine, he deserves it and his stories are amazing, but just about anything would have been better than Gou and Sotsu's stories. I feel like we as the audience were gaslit.

Yeah rika wasn't the very best friend to satoko when they were at this university but satoko was being a much worse friend by doing all what she did to rika .

I don't actually remember much because it has been months from me watching gou and sotsu but I would have preferred it if they didn't exist because honestly they are completely pointless.
Rena 's backstory wasn't relevant at all.
Everyone was a plot device except for satoko and rika maybe hanyu.

GOU was great but Sotsu has been a big disappointment. At least they included this scene confirming who these two really are

They really could have cut out 13 episodes that didn't add much to the story.... The best thing perhaps was seeing Teppei changing for the better and a couple of mentions to ciconia (Phase 2 when).
Either way, it's always nice to hear the original seiyuus a little more into their characters (:

R07 truly believes that a cheap excuse is enough to justify and redeem even the worst of the mentally ill criminals on earth and I can only say thanks because luckily his job is limited to writing these hideous stories of dubious morality and not about administration of the law because otherwise with a lawyer or a judge like him we will find ourselves in a world full of Charles Menson/Satoko Hojo.

That's only because you are looking at it from the wrong perspective! Higurashi was never a prequel to Umineko. The ending was a little dry, but us fans finally got what we wanted a closed and better ending than Kai (and Rei). 😭

AHHH so Satoko did end up paying in a way by living in a world without Rikia, but in a good way. At long last Rika's suffering is over. I knew it, I knew it!!! Higurashi was never a prequel to Umineko!!! These were all just references!!!🤩🤩😍
