I'm surprised that people don't see how brilliant the relationship between Lambda and Bernkastel is, why their relationship is so "crude love". It all has to do with probability. In an event where there is certainty that means there are no miracles, using umineko's rule "When you're certified dead by Nanjo". In an event where there is a miracle that means there was no certainty to begin with, say "A bus was supposed to hit me, but I vanished in the last second." That's why they love each other so much and play so cruel to one another. Lambadelta being the Witch of Certainty knows no Miracles and Bernkastel being the Witch of Miracles knows no certainty.
“Bernkastel knows no certainty” doesn’t really work. Bernkastel’s “miracle power” is described as her being able to obtain an outcome X as long as the probability isn’t zero. This can be seen with her finding the “Lion” fragment. However, her power can’t create a true miracle. She would never be able to find a fragment that has a zero chance of happening, like a “Lion survives” fragment. By that logic, Bernkastel does indeed know certainty.

Umineko has a bit more direct references, but thats connected more to do with the "games" in umineko. if your gonna get into it i highly suggest reading it or watching a playthrough online, the anime is basically just question arc with no answer arc and is missing a few key plot points
For those who keep saying Rika and Takono, it’s not, delta and Takono looking the same was confirmed years ago to be a red herring, she’s more closely bond to Satoko with their laughter being the same and their love of traps. Fun fact: Bernkastel and Lambadelta are also confirmed to be lovers.

I don’t think Delta has anything to do with the Hinamizawa game starting again anyway. There’s no real witch stronger than Bernkastel, that could actually pull her back into the Hinamizawa game besides Delta, Featherine or the creator. The Creator wouldn’t do it based on the fact they don’t actually care to do anything unless someone with a strong wish asks them to. Delta would’t try the same thing twice, she would of just created a new game in a different time and place. Featherine is my best bet because she’s shown to be more than willing to keep games going for centuries just for entertainment value, as well as the fact Featherine has admitted to killing herself and others just to get rid of boredom.

We’ve read them and know all the “clues” but something is still off. Lamb and Miyo are nothing alike, compared to Satoko and Lamb. The recent Higurashi could even be trying to rewrite some canon it looks to be going in that general direction.
Lambdadelta is a combination between Satoko and Young Miyo: Miyo is 3 4 in japanese, Lambdadelta is 3 4 in greek; they have the same voice actress; her appearance is closer to young Miyo that Satoko. But she has Satoko's personality
I think just like beatrice, satoko and takano are pieces, or personas of lambdadelta being, but for sure, the culmination of her love for bernkastel and wanting to be with her for all eternity and event though still fight her, looks exactly like we saw about Satoko, as eua doesn't have the same voice actress as featherine, I wouldn't mind seeing lambda having satoko's voice, or this one, to me they are already the same
It's focused more in the manga but there's another scene here with Lamb on top of Bern both sharing and biting into a jellybean together. It's implied they are much more than friends.

According to the Higurashi wiki's article on Miyo Takano, it's been confirmed in an interview with Ryukishi07 that Lambadadelta and Miyo are not the same and most likely never have been and any similarities between the two have all been red herrings. spoilers for the whole series (read the manga though it's one of the best things I've ever read): sayo (shannon/kanon) is the true mastermind. she is actually the illegitimate child of Kinzo and og Beatrice's daughter (ew, the daughter is also the beato rosa "killed"). og beato arrived in 1945 on an italian submarine that carried the gold and was kinzo's mistress. sayo found and inherited the gold and the leadership of the family, but decided to gamble everything bc of complicated circumstances that i won't go into here. she was prepared to die but was hoping someone (battler) would stop her. there is also a clock that can trigger a bomb that ends up wiping out half the island, and that's why no one knows what happened. the truth is that the siblings discovered the gold before sayo killed anyone. they fought about it and it ended with kyrie and rudolf killing almost everyone. eva then killed kyrie and escaped to kuwadorian. the only other survivors are battler and sayo, the latter drowns herself after they escape the island. battler tries to help her but is seperated from her and loses his memories. the meta world is a sort of "purgatory".
If I remember correctly, there were way stronger romantic undertones (more like overtones) for this scene in the manga. Like, faces so close they were about to kiss. I read Umineko before Higurashi, and I feel almost regretful, cause I feel like I might've enjoyed these two much more if I had read Umineko 2nd.

The truth is that both his father and step mom massacred the whole family due to their greed, i forgot how they die but i think it's because the explosion that was implanted on the grandfather's treasure. She said it in red but Ange as an unreliable narrator didn't listen past "this is the truth." It is indeed her doing a bit of trolling. Further evidenced by the fact that when we see Ange open the book and learn the truth she rejects it despite already knowing the EP7 story, then is insinuated to jump to her death to disprove that story with a "human red truth" of her own blood. There's also the fact that . . . Well . . . Ange's world, the world of 1998, can't exist. There are tons of examples of red truth from around the game that say things such as "on this island, everyone dies. None escape. Nobody survives." Ange is an unreliable narrator. She sees magic and is in no way a detective. Thus, if her reality is directly contradicted by the red truth . . . If Eva survived, you could not say in red, "All die, none survive." There's a strong case to be made that Ange's future is simply the outcome of Game 3, rather than the future that exists outside the catbox. This is all to say that there is very little evidence saying that the scenario with Kyrie and Rudolph is the truth. It can, in fact, be debunked with red truth, as previously stated. You can think of it like this. Bern is basically made up of everything Rika gave up, she is basically nothing but despair. Of all those memories Rika made, the festival, club activities and murders etc, Bern only got the bad ones.

I never really thought about Lambdadelta being Takano because she was basically not as important in the Higurashi series (she was only in a few episodes and disappeared) and well Satoko now is pretty much confirmed to be Lambdadelta with the way they use words, love using traps, the way they both laugh and so on.

She was already somewhat between evil and good. due to Rika furude constantly Jumping Worlds all the murderer and death it twisted her soul. It's similar to how in dragonball Kami saw the evil of the world and split into Piccolo. The more Rika did that the more it twisted Bernkastel became. It gose into better detail in the Umineko manga.

No, she's Rika, there is way too many hints at her being Rika for her to not be Rika. In the VN, she says "What did I used to say in times like this? Uhm, uh, fight-oh, mii, Nipah!" In the manga, there's a scene with her with Hanyuu, and we all know Rika is the only one who can see Hanyuu. In season 3, Rika actually says she must stop trying to be the "witch" Bernkastel, which is believed to be when she became a witch. Bernkastel is also Featherine's miko, and it's obvious that Featherine is Hanyuu, which further proves she is Rika. In the VN, Bernkastel also says she was human for 100 years. Rika was suffering for 100 years. There is no way Bernkastel is not Rika. The name "Bernkastel" is just a fake name she came up with because her favorite wine is called bernkastel. Featherine even says "I see you've now taken the name Bernkastel", which proves that Bernkastel is not her real name. Her real name is Rika Furude. Easiest way to explain it is that Bernkastel is Rika from the first ever fragment where she was killed, and when she was revived into another fragment, her memories replaced Rika's memories in that fragment, and she ended up being killed again, the memories she made in that fragment, along with her memories from the first fragment, replaced the memories of the Rika in the next fragment, and the patteren repeated for 100 years until she finally beat Takano. In Higurashi season 3, I believe that she split from the Rika of that fragment, resulting in her gaining her own form, and the Rika in that fragment losing her 100 years of memory, since Bernkastel separated from her. The name "Bernkastel" is just a fake name she uses to help her forget her 100 years of suffering. tl;dr: Bernkastel is the original Rika, and the Rika we know and love from Higurashi, so she is indeed Rika.

Still debatable if Satoko will turn out to be Lambdadelta (I believe it though) but Rika being Bernkastel is certainly confirmed. Her real name is Frederica (FurudeRika) and she got the Bernkastel from Rika's favorite brand of wine. As for the author himself, he describes Bernkastel as "the amalgamation of Rika's despair, tragedy, and suffering at the hands of her 100-year journey to find a miracle" aka Higurashi.
Just my opinion but if the previous game was higurashi, then Lambdadelta was Miyo- the "certain death" that killed Rika in every arc. And Bernkastel was the "miracle" that always reset a bad situation for Rika until she finally defeated her certain fate. It was revealed that Bern did defeat Lambda in a previous game. And I think Featherine was Hanyuu seeing how Rika was Hanyuu's miko and Bern used to be Auaurora's miko. And seeing as how Bernkastel and Lambdadelta are supposed to represent opposite concepts, it'd make much more sense for Lamda to be Miyo than Satoko.
Bern is a witch born from Rika's 100+ years of suffering and torment but is not Rika herself. Lambda is the "god" that answered young Tanako's prayers in Higurashi. Its heavily implied that there is some sort of connection between Featherine and Hanyuu but there is nothing concrete or official whether they are separate beings entirely or Hanyuu is Featherine when she had her memory device damaged we don't know.
It definitely causes you to suspect something along those lines, but that's not necessarily the case. Also, in the 1st VN, Battler recalls reading a novel called 'Higurashi no Naku Koro ni', which is especially interesting because it hadn't been written in 1986 when Umineko is set. Anyway, the point with that is to imply that Higurashi may have been a fictional world in the Umineko universe also and thus didn't necessarily happen, so we can't say with certainty things like 'Rika is Bernkastel'..
Bernkastel is all the Rika's that died in Higurashi rolled up into a single being. She was born of out Rikas despair in being unable to change her fate.

Rika was trapped in the time loop around 100 years. Bernkastel claims to be over 1,000 years old. As such there is a lot of time inbetween and so the most recent game they likely went against eachother in was probably not Higurashi but something else.
The only time they interacted with each other was when Lambdadelta granted Takano's wish to be a god and Bern did also made it sound like she was born because she granted Takano's wish. Bern endless torture was with how Rika always died for hundreds or even thousands of years because of her friends or Takano. So Bern need to do these things to forget the mermories of being killed by her friedns adn repeating events over and over.
Ryukishi: "Bernkastel is the personality of the chrystalization of Rika's cruelest parts." Still she is Rika as she said herself she was trapped in a game against Lambda while we know Lambda created a game to turn Takano into a God (Higurashi).

They may not physically be the same person, but Takano is a piece of Lamda. Just like Rika is a piece of Bernkastel. They may not exactly equal each other, but they are in fact versions of the same person.
No, this isn't how it works. Takano just borrowed Lambda's power (which is basically just "the determination to absolutely achieve a goal") in the same way Beato did. Bernkastel is a different situation, because she was actually born from the experiences of Rika. But Lambda was presumably around before Takano.
This scene was done better in the PS3 Adaptation of the visual novels. Lambda actually counters all of Battler's silly blue truths and it ends with Bern's delightful evil laugh coupled with Lambda's as a cliffhanger. Then, System 0 plays as the credits roll. That's how it should have been done.
If Rena was watching this scene, she would most certainly "take them both home" without thinking twice about them being witches

We’ve read them and know all the “clues” but something is still off. Lamb and Miyo are nothing alike, compared to Satoko and Lamb. The recent Higurashi could even be trying to rewrite some canon it looks to be going in that general direction.

Miyo is 3 4 in japanese, Lambdadelta is 3 4 in greek; they have the same voice actress; her appearance is closer to young Miyo that Satoko.

I think just like beatrice, satoko and takano are pieces, or personas of lambdadelta being, but for sure, the culmination of her love for bernkastel and wanting to be with her for all eternity and event though still fight her, looks exactly like we saw about Satoko, as eua doesn't have the same voice actress as featherine, I wouldn't mind seeing lambda having satoko's voice, or this one, to me they are already the same

According to the Higurashi wiki's article on Miyo Takano, it's been confirmed in an interview with Ryukishi07 that Lambadadelta and Miyo are not the same and most likely never have been and any similarities between the two have all been red herrings. However, it was implied/stated that Lambda was the one who aided Takano in Higurashi using her Magic of Certainty. Hope this helps.-Takejiro24

spoilers for the whole series (read the manga though it's one of the best things I've ever read):
sayo (shannon/kanon) is the true mastermind. she is actually the illegitimate child of Kinzo and og Beatrice's daughter (ew, the daughter is also the beato rosa "killed"). og beato arrived in 1945 on an italian submarine that carried the gold and was kinzo's mistress.
sayo found and inherited the gold and the leadership of the family, but decided to gamble everything bc of complicated circumstances that i won't go into here. she was prepared to die but was hoping someone (battler) would stop her. there is also a clock that can trigger a bomb that ends up wiping out half the island, and that's why no one knows what happened.
the truth is that the siblings discovered the gold before sayo killed anyone. they fought about it and it ended with kyrie and rudolf killing almost everyone. eva then killed kyrie and escaped to kuwadorian. the only other survivors are battler and sayo, the latter drowns herself after they escape the island. battler tries to help her but is seperated from her and loses his memories. the meta world is a sort of "purgatory".
If I remember correctly, there were way stronger romantic undertones (more like overtones) for this scene in the manga. Like, faces so close they were about to kiss. I read Umineko before Higurashi, and I feel almost regretful, cause I feel like I might've enjoyed these two much more if I had read Umineko 2nd.

The truth is that both his father and step mom massacred the whole family due to their greed, i forgot how they die but i think it's because the explosion that was implanted on the grandfather's treasure. She said it in red but Ange as an unreliable narrator didn't listen past "this is the truth." It is indeed her doing a bit of trolling. Further evidenced by the fact that when we see Ange open the book and learn the truth she rejects it despite already knowing the EP7 story, then is insinuated to jump to her death to disprove that story with a "human red truth" of her own blood. There's also the fact that . . . Well . . . Ange's world, the world of 1998, can't exist. There are tons of examples of red truth from around the game that say things such as "on this island, everyone dies. None escape. Nobody survives." Ange is an unreliable narrator. She sees magic and is in no way a detective. Thus, if her reality is directly contradicted by the red truth . . . If Eva survived, you could not say in red, "All die, none survive." There's a strong case to be made that Ange's future is simply the outcome of Game 3, rather than the future that exists outside the catbox. This is all to say that there is very little evidence saying that the scenario with Kyrie and Rudolph is the truth. It can, in fact, be debunked with red truth, as previously stated.

You can think of it like this. Bern is basically made up of everything Rika gave up, she is basically nothing but despair. Of all those memories Rika made, the festival, club activities and murders etc, Bern only got the bad ones.

I always thought Lambdadelta was supposed to draw a parallel to Takano, who was so certain her dreams would come true that she created fate, but now I'm thinking it's supposed to be Satoko instead? Interesting
I never really thought about Lambdadelta being Takano because she was basically not as important in the Higurashi series (she was only in a few episodes and disappeared) and well Satoko now is pretty much confirmed to be Lambdadelta with the way they use words, love using traps, the way they both laugh and so on.
My God, I can't believe I finished this series In early May 2011. I totally forgot about this episode.

She was already somewhat between evil and good. due to Rika furude constantly Jumping Worlds all the murderer and death it twisted her soul. It's similar to how in dragonball Kami saw the evil of the world and split into Piccolo. The more Rika did that the more it twisted Bernkastel became. It gose into better detail in the Umineko manga.

No, she's Rika, there is way too many hints at her being Rika for her to not be Rika. In the VN, she says "What did I used to say in times like this? Uhm, uh, fight-oh, mii, Nipah!" In the manga, there's a scene with her with Hanyuu, and we all know Rika is the only one who can see Hanyuu. In season 3, Rika actually says she must stop trying to be the "witch" Bernkastel, which is believed to be when she became a witch. Bernkastel is also Featherine's miko, and it's obvious that Featherine is Hanyuu, which further proves she is Rika. In the VN, Bernkastel also says she was human for 100 years. Rika was suffering for 100 years. There is no way Bernkastel is not Rika. The name "Bernkastel" is just a fake name she came up with because her favorite wine is called bernkastel. Featherine even says "I see you've now taken the name Bernkastel", which proves that Bernkastel is not her real name. Her real name is Rika Furude.
Easiest way to explain it is that Bernkastel is Rika from the first ever fragment where she was killed, and when she was revived into another fragment, her memories replaced Rika's memories in that fragment, and she ended up being killed again, the memories she made in that fragment, along with her memories from the first fragment, replaced the memories of the Rika in the next fragment, and the patteren repeated for 100 years until she finally beat Takano.
In Higurashi season 3, I believe that she split from the Rika of that fragment, resulting in her gaining her own form, and the Rika in that fragment losing her 100 years of memory, since Bernkastel separated from her. The name "Bernkastel" is just a fake name she uses to help her forget her 100 years of suffering.
tl;dr: Bernkastel is the original Rika, and the Rika we know and love from Higurashi, so she is indeed Rika.

Still debatable if Satoko will turn out to be Lambdadelta (I believe it though) but Rika being Bernkastel is certainly confirmed. Her real name is Frederica (FurudeRika) and she got the Bernkastel from Rika's favorite brand of wine. As for the author himself, he describes Bernkastel as "the amalgamation of Rika's despair, tragedy, and suffering at the hands of her 100-year journey to find a miracle" aka Higurashi.

Just my opinion but if the previous game was higurashi, then Lambdadelta was Miyo- the "certain death" that killed Rika in every arc. And Bernkastel was the "miracle" that always reset a bad situation for Rika until she finally defeated her certain fate. It was revealed that Bern did defeat Lambda in a previous game. And I think Featherine was Hanyuu seeing how Rika was Hanyuu's miko and Bern used to be Auaurora's miko. And seeing as how Bernkastel and Lambdadelta are supposed to represent opposite concepts, it'd make much more sense for Lamda to be Miyo than Satoko.
Bern is a witch born from Rika's 100+ years of suffering and torment but is not Rika herself. Lambda is the "god" that answered young Tanako's prayers in Higurashi. Its heavily implied that there is some sort of connection between Featherine and Hanyuu but there is nothing concrete or official whether they are separate beings entirely or Hanyuu is Featherine when she had her memory device damaged we don't know.

They were wrong - sure, Beato couldn't win but "a" miracle still happened in the end.
It definitely causes you to suspect something along those lines, but that's not necessarily the case. Also, in the 1st VN, Battler recalls reading a novel called 'Higurashi no Naku Koro ni', which is especially interesting because it hadn't been written in 1986 when Umineko is set. Anyway, the point with that is to imply that Higurashi may have been a fictional world in the Umineko universe also and thus didn't necessarily happen, so we can't say with certainty things like 'Rika is Bernkastel'..

As such there is a lot of time inbetween and so the most recent game they likely went against eachother in was probably not Higurashi but something else.

The only time they interacted with each other was when Lambdadelta granted Takano's wish to be a god and Bern did also made it sound like she was born because she granted Takano's wish. Bern endless torture was with how Rika always died for hundreds or even thousands of years because of her friends or Takano. So Bern need to do these things to forget the mermories of being killed by her friedns adn repeating events over and over.

They may not physically be the same person, but Takano is a piece of Lamda. Just like Rika is a piece of Bernkastel. They may not exactly equal each other, but they are in fact versions of the same person.
No, this isn't how it works. Takano just borrowed Lambda's power (which is basically just "the determination to absolutely achieve a goal") in the same way Beato did.
Bernkastel is a different situation, because she was actually born from the experiences of Rika. But Lambda was presumably around before Takano.

This scene was done better in the PS3 Adaptation of the visual novels. Lambda actually counters all of Battler's silly blue truths and it ends with Bern's delightful evil laugh coupled with Lambda's as a cliffhanger. Then, System 0 plays as the credits roll. That's how it should have been done.
