There are those that say you cannot do better than to use a pallette and prepare the hair by brushing on the pallette. However, that always seems very much a waste of time UNLESS you do it as efficiently as Glenn Weisgerber. You can pallette that brush on the inside of a paper cup as i do. I don’t fill very much of my 3oz paper cup with paint which leaves me plenty of room on the side to prep the hair. BUT there is one thing you can do with a paper cup that you cannot do on a pallette and that is tap the heel of the brush on the rim of the cup. That action flares the hairs out and can give you a very nice chisel. I also use the brushwork on the letter to prepare my brush. As paint comes out of the brush, your brush thins out which will give you the sharpest edge. So you use your first strokes where detail isnt needed, as the brush effaces you can take on the detail at the terminals.

Much appreciated. Some of the flaws you accept as part of the design I would have beat myself silly for. I find that so liberating. I haven't done any lettering in years, mostly because I'm a terrible salesman. But I got sick from the chemicals and had to step back. But you have to know I still have my kit, and when I lift the lid and get that aroma, oh my heart just sings.

For. Some reason i cannot comment on direct questions. The size of the brush is about a #5 grey quill similar to the Mack 179 series...

I picked up lettering and pinstriping a while ago,but only do it as a hobby.I really want to set aside time to practice, practice, practice, because once I start lettering I get lost in it for hours and I love it.I'm in my early sixties so I guess starting a lettering business now would only be a hobby.I have all kinds of irons in the fire but have a hard time devoting time to everything I love so much. You are wonderfully talented and I will watch any video I can find of your or others just because I learn by watching as opposed to doing.Thank You for this video Bob...

Practice is the discipline you have to cultivate on your own, if you can't do that then you'll need to practice practicing! Like going to work, or going to school. Set your alarm and go do it.

@@evvie01 Practicing would be easier if I wasn't disabled.I am still proud that I can do any of what I do .Maybe I'm not doing as much as I would like but at least I keep trying.

If only I kept this up. I'm practising drawing old English and memorize. I need to develop discipline. These one stroke are difficult as you have to keep them in rhythm. Love watching excellent work.

waited all that time and the only thing I needed to hear regarding the style of letter was “offset oval”. Amazing description that should’ve come in the first few minutes.. don’t get me wrong, I appreciate all you do Mr.Bob. But isn’t it funny how just talking, painting, and saying the right words can put someone way ahead of the curve
