Hi Amanda,,, my name is Tom, I really like your saying of the real art of sign painting,, a little about me I've been doing sign painting for yrs and learned a lot from my dad,, now I'm retired from my trade of custom painting and some sign painting I really enjoy the art of the lost trade, when I finish a sign the people are so stoked from the way the sign attacks there attention there and the layout of the way I designed it,, but I'm not a professional others that have been doing this for up-teen years. One thing my dad taught me was don't be like the others,, and now days others are using vinyl but it's not the real thing. Nice video! I painted signs when I was in college, so I can relate. I got into print design when Apple introduced the Macintosh Computer. That was 1984. Time flies. I still love drawing by hand, but like drawing on the computer, too! Best of luck to you!
I hope that you try my brush designs, also try my scroll brushes for pinstriping designs,they are as much fun as you can have with your clothing still on!
I remember the first time ever I desolved some gelatine into water and just practiced my first gilding on an old marmelade jar. Just to see it sit there and watch it become more and more mirror like, was absolute magic. So I gilded all my glasses the day after :-D It's awesome artistry and the effect of gold/silver/whatever... you just can't paint that switching reflection of light that gold/silver has. It's just awesome to do! Great little video! I hope you are doing well with it :-)
