  • I want to thank you all for a great 2016 year buy closing it out with a partial game of legendary Expos broadcaster, Dave Van Horne at the mic!
    I do have a full version of this game but it was broadcasted by NBC, that will be uploaded when we reach 15,000 subs! (subject to change) i know it seems a long ways away but with the great pace we have started out at! i know its only a few doors down the hall!
    Thank you everyone and have a Merry Christmas and happy Hanukkah or Festivas!

    It has taken me 37 years to find a place to do this, but I must've met that I am the Los Angeles Dodgers fan, and I was really glad that they won the 1981 World Series. But, I have deep family roots in Canada, and I was so tiring in that NL CS in 1981. Of course, I wanted my local Dodgers to win, especially since Fernando Valenzuela was doing so well. But, I've also been keeping up with the Expos, and I knew that they had Gary Carter, Bill Gulliksen, and Company. There were so many on both teams, both were Great teams. Of course, the Dodgers would go on to win the World Series in 1988, and get real close last year. I am so sorry for people in expos nation, if you had such a thing up there, but just on principle I will not cheer for the Washington nationals in anything. They are the Montreal expos as far as I'm concerned, and Washington stole them. I absolutely thought about that during the All-Star game a few weeks ago, that should have been Montréal's second All-Star game, not Washington's first!

    Only NLCS appearance for the Montreal Expos. Not that they didn't have some great teams. Their outfielders were very fast those being Andre Dawson, Warren Cromartie, Ellis Valentine, and the speedy Tim Raines. In 1994 Montreal was cruising in the newly realigned A.L. East with a 6 game lead over mighty Atlanta on Aug. 10 when the strike ended the season. I wonder if the Expos had won the World Series that year, if the strike had never happened, would the Expos still be in Montreal?

    expos were one of my favorite franchises. its too bad their lone chance to appear in the world series was to face the dodgers, my team back then. the city needs a team so it can compete for fanbase with the alouettes of the cfl and the Canadians of the NHL.

    • @pierrelevasseur2701
      @pierrelevasseur2701 5 лет назад +2

      It's even worse than that. If I remember the stat correctly, they had the second best record in the Majors after the Yankees for a period of 15 years, 1979 to 1994 I believe.

    • @pierrelevasseur2701
      @pierrelevasseur2701 5 лет назад +3

      I just checked and I was wrong. The Expos had a .5302 winning percentage 1979 to 1994 and the Yankees .5296 so the Expos were best during that period. Blue Jays were fourth best team by the way at .5197 and apart from the expansion Rockies and Marlins, the Mariners were worst at .440
      Other fact: Expos attendance in that period just slightly below league average. Dodgers by far had most, Blue Jays second, Mariners and Indians picked up the rear.

      indianapatsfan Not a real ballpark, yes but not nearly as bad a place to watch baseball as some people would suggest. All of the seats in fair territory and the bleachers are properly configured for baseball. Most of the lower deck seats provide as good a view as the equivalent at a baseball only stadium. I like the architecture, personally. I just don't like indoor baseball in the summer.

      I agree. It had a fun atmosphere. Although it was damp, dark, chunks of concrete were falling off, smelt like Player's cigs, and it was AstroTurf. Part of the 1995 sci-fi movie "Screamers" was shot in the interior/concession areas.

      @pierrelevasseur2701 5 лет назад

      Yeah, much better teams than this one, stats-wise. Yet, this is the only one to make the playoffs and it was just because of the strike. Had there been no strike, I'm pretty sure the '81 Expos would not have won the East, the Cardinals likely would have.

    Andre Dawson was so not clutch. He had to be the easiest out in the Expos batting order in big games. First inning they have runners on the corners, nobody out and Valenzuela is rattled. A big inning could have driven him from the game. Instead Dawson hits into a rally-killing double play and Valenzuela doesn't give up another run.

      If you knew anything about Fernando and 1981 he never got rattled. Whenever he was scored on was usually early in the game, he always got stronger as the game went on. He would get beaten for sure but never ever rattled.
