I remember seeing this live on TV! It was awesome! Thank you for representing La Raza! You were such a role model! God bless your soul! Dodgers WIN IT FOR FERNANDO!!🇲🇽💙🙏✝
As he goes into the dugout at the end of the clip at 6:30, he is congratulated by Tim Crews and Mike Sharperson-- both men, unfortunately, RIP.
I remember hearing about Tim Crews's death. He was killed in a freak accident that also killed a young relief pitcher by the name of Steve Olin. Bobby Ojeda survived that accident. Mike Sharperson was killed in a car accident. Both of them are missed.
I watched this live on ESPN. The only time I ever saw a no hitter live.
Fernando was special.
One of a kind.
So was Vin.
I am big Giants fan having been born there and hated the dodgers except when Valenzuela pitched. He was inspirational and humble
Historic day, earlier on the East Coast, Dave Stewart threw his no-no and I believe both games were seen back to back on ESPN...what are the chances!
lemmiwinks09 The kind of odds that we have a ILLEGITIMATE president. MITT ROMNEY CALLS HIM A PHONEY A FRAUD.
David Greene ??
Yeah it was. Remember that night.
And former team mates? Stewart ex Dodger
🇲🇽⚾Uno de los peloteros más trascendentes mexicanos en grandes ligas⚾🇲🇽👏👏👏 puro Dodgers ⚾👍👍👍
Gracias por todo TORO!
One of the happiest moments of my teen years. It was a very special year, I graduated HS, got accepted into my top choice univ., then Fernando pitches this gem. Bonus that ex-Dodger Dave Stewart also got a no-hitter for the A's earlier that same day. A few years later I got to live in the same high rise as Mr. Stewart.
Great game by Fernando! Unfortunately, I attended the game before and the next one after while missing this one! My Niece was there though.
Vin Sully is, quite simply, the best that's ever been.
I still get chills watching this! Such a great player! Fernando
Dang I had to come see my raza again 😢
Thank you, Fernando. You lived a good life, giving so many people so much joy!
:) Only Scully...."....if you have a sombrero, throw it to the sky!"
Kenni 💪👏
Or a drunk Harry Carry “Hey! Check out the kid in the sombrero!”.
Say that nowadays and you would be cancelled right off the air.
@@devineimageworks I don't know about that.
What a great era of time to witness. I miss the good ole days.
Fernandomania!
Fue tal la Fernandomania que personas que desconocian el béisbol empezaron a interesarse en el. Y vi a varias lusir la franela. 34 de Fernando aqui en México.
Fernando brought such an excitement to and for the Dodgers Dodgers unlike anyone I have seen. I'll never forget his first season or two. He deserves the HOF.
How does this have any thumbs down. Unbelievable baseball history.
Bravo Fernando. Eres en el baseball oro, mezquita, basílica y cactus. Suena esto a Maríachi, a jarabe, copal y cera. Eres un jugador que tiene el pincel en la mano y la luz en el alma. Nunca te olvidaremos.
I remember the Fernando-Mania craze back in 81 when he was on fire throwing so many of those unhittable screwballs he use to throw ⚾️ ⚾️⚾️
I remember as a child when Fernando first broke into the league...Dude was "bigger than life"...What a performance, and called by the legendary Vin Scully makes it all the more immortal
6:00 "If you have a sombrero, throw it to the sky!" If an announcer said that today, he'd be politically INCORRECT and called a RACIST!
Settle down lol
This comment is a perfect example of people complaining about how some people might complain. Ultra PC culture is annoying, but people like you are equally as annoying.
Says you.
As a Mexican, you obviously have no knowledge of our culture. It was well known that both Fernando and Vin were really good friends. Vin was the first person that welcomed Fernando when he joined the dodgers. There’s nothing offensive or racist about what Vin said. Clearly you throw your sombrero or hat to celebrate an achievement, which Fernando did and was the first Mexican baseball player. Don’t ever speak on behalf of other people’s cultures, stick to your own.
Did it make you mad? That's all that matters! Let the echo chamber echo and be happy with what makes you happy.
Vince Scully will always be the most amazing sports broadcaster ever. The way he talks for these outs is amazing.
I’m 61 , I remember these times. Oh how proud Fernando made us feel. Something I think Mexicans need now.
We got Urias now, watching him close out the world series was amazing.
Why do these groups always and it seems now, perpetually "need to feel proud" ? Just live and do your thing...stop with the constant pathos parade
@@manofiske3318 what groups?
Valenzuela one of my all time favorite Dodgers players for sure
Vaya con Dios, Fernando. 😢😥
QEPD Toro!! Godspeed!! Viva Los Doyers!!
'If you have a sombrero, throw it to the sky!
Vin you will be missed, what Commentary. An absolute legend.
First time there was two no hitters in the same evening. There will never be another Fernando.
Never be another Fernando Valenzuela. Never
Still love him my favorite of all time and with Vince Scully calling it wow
Vin Scully is so incredible to listen to
