Glad you enjoyed seeing the video but it was an insult to the best band in the country, and that is SU Southern University of Louisiana. They have always been the sound and the Blue Print of what a real HBCU band should be. I really stating facts, you should look up some of there games, Parades and Battle of the bands against GSU Grambling University they always mop the floor with them.
My son's HBCU is Lane College & he's the 🥁section leader. They're too small to make such a list, but I'm EXTREMELY proud of him & of them! I'm just an ALL HBCU FAN! I LOVE US!!! *I've replayed that Tuskegee part, COUNTLESS times! Not only was the band, off the chain, the crowd was LIT!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🏆🥇
I agree with you I am from Alabama the capital so Tuskegee is about 30 minutes away from where my folks live at but I know very much about Lane College my high school sweetheart he went to Lane College he started there on a basketball scholarship. I was very impressed with Lane college that was back in 2000. Yes proud of your son he better work!!!!💯 and I hope you completely embarrass him and yell as loud as you can 😂😅😅🤣
I dn't about today, but a couple of years ago when Dr Owens & Dr Hughes were in charge of Lange College's band, they were one of the best in the lane. World famous.

My uncle went to FAMU. He taught music and was the band director at several high schools throughout his career, and taught that same passion and discipline to his students. It was wonderful to see his high school marching band play some of the HBCU cadences out of respect in the thanksgiving parade. Many students were inspired and went to HBCUs after graduation. Its is a proud tradition and legacy.
My people will never lose their style and swag. No one can ever take that away. Others can imitate as much as they want BUT they will never have it! Though we have our adversities I'm proud of my black people.

We didn't "Ball & Parlay" back then, but we do now! Congrats to all of the other amazing HBCU bands on and off this list! You all are amazing!!!!
I don't know what the criteria was for the rankings, but SU (HumanJukebox) will never be 9th especially on this list. I'm willing to put SU against any collegiate band song for song any day...and I'll only use the 🦀s...that's how confident I am about my band.
My son plays percussion at our little rural middle school here in Southern lllinois. I keep showing him HBCU videos because I want him to see how lit band could be if he picks the right college.

One thing I can tell you about Tuskegee. The band isn't as big as it was back in the 90's and early 2000's, but they've ALWAYS done a great job with student/fan interaction!!!

In my opinion a lot of people really don’t understand the hard work and dedication these young people go through in order to do the great job in which they do for their team’s halftime show. If you listen to just the accolades Southern university marching band should be ranked in the Top 3 at least! 6 Superbowls, 3 Presidential appearances, was invited to the Global Battle of the Bands. The announcer couldn't even list them all!

Living in predominant white state in the northwest of United States, iam happy to view all the HBCs marching bands. It gives me pride to watch our brothers and sisters perform exceptional well during their performances. So to me they're all number ones.
I'm surprised Alabama State, Alabama A&M, and/or Miles College didn't make the list. They are excellent HBCU bands in Alabama. I do love this list though. Tuskegee is not the only lit band in Alabama. Lol. We have plenty.
When I first came to the UNITED STATES 🇺🇸 in 90s, I started to watch HBCU bands. It was amazingly nice. Used to watch it on NBC and ABC. Ladies were natural. No wig hair and skinner. HBCU should bring it back on the national TV 📺 😀 🙄
Ahhh, you're talking Football or Bands, or both? That gridiron is a different story. MEAC has never taken a back seat to any HBCU conf on football field or basketball court!
The fact that Tennessee State is not top 3 or on the list is crazy. TSU performed at the 2022 Rose Bowl, performed at the White House for former President Obama, halftime at the Lakers' game, and so many other accolades.
Su and Jsu are the best bands on this list hands down they should been 1 and 2 or 2 and 1 no other band on this list can touch Southern and Jackson st.

They also received 5... yes FIVE standing ovations their first year participating in the Honda Battle of the Bands and secured the prime time spot from the Marching 100 the following year.

This was a great video. Professionally done. I like the categories for ranking the bands. However, I was absolutely appalled and insulted at SU's placing. Aside from power selections when it comes to halftime perdormances, drilling, arrangements, musicianship, trend setting, showcase spotlights such as superbowls, sugar bowls, orange bowls, inargurations, overseas etc. SU is OFTEN IMITATED BUT NEVER DUPLICATED and the best!!! The top bands should be ranked with GSU FAMU and BETHUNE as the top 3. The specific order may vary. But nobody's better than SU and JSU as the top 2 bands. Hands down. No classic battles are bigger, as well known and/or anticipated as the Bayou Classics and the Boombox Classic. These are the top 5 Marching bands in the country and not just the SWAC. And who were the judges? What HBCU did they attend? Tuskegee really? Lol. GTFOH

They are all amazing. I am so proud of all our black queens and kings. They are all so talented. Being a Florida girl I must say that I am most proud that Famu and BCC came in 1st and 2nd place. Florida in the house. Yasss
What I love the most is the fact they are playing NCAT band in the background at the beginning. But they should have said in no particular order bc it is really opinion based. I like most of the bands on the list probably would switch out a few.
As a Tuskegee University and MCP Alumna I’m thrilled to see them on this list. I also knew that the song shown would be “Ball and Parlay”. I also would like to note that I’ve been to many different colleges and universities for their homecomings, and TU’s homecoming is by far the best one to attend. I’m not just saying that because that’s my Alma Mater either. If you know, you know. 🐯❤️💛

This had to be comprised by someone who’s NEEEEVER been to a SWAC game in person and who doesn’ understand SWAC band rivalries. How does Grambling rank higher than Southern when you’ve used a 2019 video to rank them #3? Someone needs to invite Black Excellist to BoomBOX classic or Bayou Classic BOTB ASAP .
@@yolandaosborne1848 That’s what I said! In my book, SU is #1 and JSU is #2. All other bands are far far behind. But, even if you don’t rank SU #1, they should at the very least be top 3! I think that’s fair. Everyone don’t necessarily like the same things. You still have to recognize excellence!
So now a person opinion can't be based on what they think but what someone else thinks, if you think your band should be number one that's your opinion. You can make up someone else mine. If they came and saw all the bands in person they're still entitled to their own opinion.
Well I see my school's band Grambling State was in the top 3, but I say Southern should've gotten that #1 spot! But congrats to all the HBCU bands that are and are not on the list! I have much HBCU PRIDE! Grambling grad Class of 2000 (Fall).
Watching these top HBCU's take me back to high-school when I was a member of Dunbar Marching Band. I was so proud for we performed like these bands. Our band leader was from Grambling. It was the ultimate experience in my life. Music is life. 🎶 🎵 🎷
As an HBCU BAND ALUM, this list is sooooo totally INCORRECT! I luv my Black Institutions, but there's no waaaaay Tuskegee should be on this list, Tennessee State was left out and the fact that Jackson State nor Southern were in the top 3 is unacceptable especially when most bands pattern themselves after them and damn near every high school around the country imitates or attempts to play JSU's songs and cadences! When looking at bands, you have to look for musicality, tone, pregame, halftime and not just dancing, the 5th Quater and most of all......"SOUND"! The J-SETTES alone set the bar for dancers! Bethune Cookman should not have been in the no.1 slot! Next time.....Come down South and then go the other directions and when your finished....this list will be different

In my opinion a lot of people really don’t understand the hard work and dedication these young people go through in order to do the great job in which they do for their team’s halftime show. Living in predominant white state in the northwest of United States, iam happy to view all the HBCs marching bands. It gives me pride to watch our brothers and sisters perform exceptional well during their performances. So to me they're all number ones.
Grambling (💎) is the first HBCU Band I saw in person. I have grown to equally appreciate and respect ALL them. 👏 🌹 🏆

I'm surprised Alabama State, Alabama A&M, and/or Miles College didn't make the list. They are excellent HBCU bands in Alabama. I do love this list though. Tuskegee is not the only lit band in Alabama. Lol. We have plenty.

When I first came to the UNITED STATES 🇺🇸 in 90s, I started to watch HBCU bands. It was amazingly nice. Used to watch it on NBC and ABC. Ladies were natural. No wig hair and skinner. HBCU should bring it back on the national TV 📺 😀 🙄

The fact that Tennessee State is not top 3 or on the list is crazy. TSU performed at the 2022 Rose Bowl, performed at the White House for former President Obama, halftime at the Lakers' game, and so many other accolades.
Su and Jsu are the best bands on this list hands down they should been 1 and 2 or 2 and 1 no other band on this list can touch Southern and Jackson st.

This was a great video. Professionally done. I like the categories for ranking the bands. However, I was absolutely appalled and insulted at SU's placing. Aside from power selections when it comes to halftime perdormances, drilling, arrangements, musicianship, trend setting, showcase spotlights such as superbowls, sugar bowls, orange bowls, inargurations, overseas etc. SU is OFTEN IMITATED BUT NEVER DUPLICATED and the best!!! The top bands should be ranked with GSU FAMU and BETHUNE as the top 3. The specific order may vary. But nobody's better than SU and JSU as the top 2 bands. Hands down. No classic battles are bigger, as well known and/or anticipated as the Bayou Classics and the Boombox Classic. These are the top 5 Marching bands in the country and not just the SWAC. And who were the judges? What HBCU did they attend? Tuskegee really? Lol. GTFOH

What I love the most is the fact they are playing NCAT band in the background at the beginning. But they should have said in no particular order bc it is really opinion based. I like most of the bands on the list probably would switch out a few.

As a Tuskegee University and MCP Alumna I’m thrilled to see them on this list. I also knew that the song shown would be “Ball and Parlay”. I also would like to note that I’ve been to many different colleges and universities for their homecomings, and TU’s homecoming is by far the best one to attend. I’m not just saying that because that’s my Alma Mater either. If you know, you know. 🐯❤️💛

Watching these top HBCU's take me back to high-school when I was a member of Dunbar Marching Band. I was so proud for we performed like these bands. Our band leader was from Grambling. It was the ultimate experience in my life. Music is life. 🎶 🎵 🎷
As an HBCU BAND ALUM, this list is sooooo totally INCORRECT! I luv my Black Institutions, but there's no waaaaay Tuskegee should be on this list, Tennessee State was left out and the fact that Jackson State nor Southern were in the top 3 is unacceptable especially when most bands pattern themselves after them and damn near every high school around the country imitates or attempts to play JSU's songs and cadences! When looking at bands, you have to look for musicality, tone, pregame, halftime and not just dancing, the 5th Quater and most of all......"SOUND"! The J-SETTES alone set the bar for dancers! Bethune Cookman should not have been in the no.1 slot! Next time.....Come down South and then go the other directions and when your finished....this list will be different
