Explination IMO: So basically she was dealing with post partum deppression along with not being ready to have a kid, a traumatic child hood, and losing her husband. She seems to have lost her mind and was abusing Calum without realizing it, pushing him to run away to the only other place he knows, the park. He runs into the haunted house where the owner of the park has been staying per his note, and has been kidnapping the kids to come in and sacrificing them to whatever dark magic stuff he was into. Its suggested that the mom thinks he was killed by the owner guy, but sees it as herself killing her due to guilt of making him run away in the first place and not being a good mother. The rest of the stuff, like the mascot going crazy and all the accidents, were a result of the land being haunted and whatever experiments the owner was conducting.
I think that is a pretty good assessment. Though it seems like the park is a living entity to some extent and feeds off of the positive or negative energy in people. Making them angry and unhappy until they leave the park and don’t have the thing sucking them dry. You might notice as she goes through the park she starts out joyful and happy but more and more as she goes through, she gets much more sad, angry, and bitter. I think it gets worse after she rides the rides but I’d have to watch a few more times to understand. That begs the question though, is this all real? What is a hallucination and what’s real since she seems to be taking drugs that make her forget what she has done
I wanna add, but I'm only halfway ish through the video, (where she is starting to enter the roller coaster). There is big text and she talks about "that little f-er" as her son, BUT there is smaller text when she talks to the, whatever that guy is, the witch. Could it be that she is starting to take in affects of the park and the big text = her becoming like, psychotic because of the park? She seems normal when its the smaller text
Ok so, I do think that she is being abusive towards him, and she has pills that make her, idk, weird I'd put it as. Maybe they are depressant pills of some sort, not sure, but they do seem to make her forget things. Callum has bruises, he doesn't want to tell her who he got them from, she says "Forgive me callum" and everything about how he takes pain and itll be good after pain. I think she is unconsciously abusing him and the pills make her forget things, thats why he doesn't want to tell her, because she is the one who hits him. Not sure, but it really seems like that is the case.
He slammed the door saying "Dont touch me" she is definitely the one abusing her so, I think she killed Callum in the alley we saw. And after that, all of this (in house and seeing callum) is a dellusion. When the daylight turned way into the night at beginning of the game, she already murdered Callum in the alley, but she forgot (because I dont think she stopped taking the pills) as they are everywhere in the game. So she still forgets, and that's why she doesn't remember killing her son, she said at roller coaster she even wanted him gone, and it would be better off with him gone. Then we see his dead body.
Having watched the video, there are a few things you missed. 1. In the parking lot, there is a note mentioning the Bogeyman. 2. At the bumper cars, there is an electrotherapy device. 3. The note at the concession stands has changed to look more unusual. 4. When going through the repetitive section at the Horror House, the notes AND books are different when you look at them. The backs of the books might help. Last: You can actually try to leave the park at the start, if you choose to leave through the gates.
Yeah, I was getting annoyed at Mike rushing through the game like he was being chased by a monster. Mike, learn the difference between action horror and atmospheric horror. Take the time to look around and figure out the details of the story, otherwise you're taking away the scary aspect and turn it into a Scooby Doo episode.
@@opalgoblin You're right, but this game had way too many notes I wouldn't blame him for being exhausted. There are better ways to tell a story than just reading. This is a game, after all. In my opinion, What remains of Edith Finch did the walking simulator a LOT better than this.
@@opalgoblin EXACTLY. He did this same thing on his Security Breach playthrough as well, made it unbearable to watch. He's better than this. His older videos were great, but now its like he's trying to cater to kids with short attention spans.
"The worst thing to do when you're chasing someone who is in a roller coaster is to GET INTO THE CAR BEHIND THEM" is all I can think about with the swan ride
Ah The Park, I haven’t heard or seen much of this game in years so glad to see one of my favorite horror games be played by one of my favorite content creators.
@@matthewavery2934 It's linked to an MMO, The Secret World, and was meant to be the explanation behind one of the quest lines in that game, which is why the ending is how it is.
I love the park so much. The perfect mix of parental trauma and haunted land. It’s inspired me to begin learning game creation so I can one day make my own horror game based around learning the numerous phobias that plague people
@@wrestlemaniac829 most likely. The idea for the game is 25 levels revolving around popular horror settings with 5 hidden levels that have boss fights. Using the encyclophobia, after encountering the different phobias, players should be able to learn what certain fears are called and learn more about them.
38:45 For those who can't catch the pause button or read them fast. First Door: "All that you love will be carried away" Second Door: "F*** Gravity!" Third Door: "Not Safe! The League" Fourth Door: "I can taste your dreams."
Very good choice to play The Park Mike. It's actually a spinoff of The Secret World, a horror MMO where everything is real from Zombies to Cthulhu. The Park is even a location in the game, set in the horror filled Solomon Island. If you enjoy the atmosphere of The Park, I would love it if you played the Secret World on the channel. I'm sure your fans would love to play the game with you and join your guild so we can all connect with each other. There is a ton of lore in Secret World, some of which can be permanently missed.
@@Taubenmett It really was ahead of it's time, such a shame it's company saw fit to monetize it into the ground. The original was so good, even if Japan had some annoying mechanics to deal with at endgame. But all they had to do was tweak that and give us more horror storylines and atmosphere, that's what made the game great in the first place.
@@heartless2147 The company saw it fit to monetize it into the ground because the players weren't falling over themselves to drown them in money when it was good. That is the prime reason that every live service game either goes under or deteriorates over time unless it's simply a passion project. If a game blows you away the first time, it deserves $60 every time you log in, not just a one off box price.
This was a genuinely scary game. Others may not think so, but I definitely did. The park's creepy essence along with the deeper meaning of the mother and son and dialogue tied it together. I'm excited for the story explained. (If there is one) Edit: If you pay close enough attention, you can hear the mom sound like she's quite literally going insane, as she described earlier in the video about how being a mother can drive you insane. Edit 2: (SPOILER) I'm not surprised that the mother killed her son in the end. We learn throughout the game that she was dealing with some bad stuff. With her husband/boyfriend dead, she had to raise Callum on her own, and she wasn't ready. This led to the excessive drinking and abusing. (I'm saying drinking because if look carefully throughout the playthrough, mainly in the end part though, you can see in the fridge how there were only bottles of wine, and there was also a doll holding a bottle of wine.
10:11 the story of Hansel and Gretel was different for me because the witch did feed Hansel a lot of food while Gretel was put to work they had a plan to trick the witch. So the plan was the witch would squeeze Hansel’s arm to see if he was plumb and juicy but Hansel took a chicken bone and the witch thought he was thin as a twig but when she opened the cage Hansel pushed the witch same as his sister and they put the witch in the oven and burned her till she died then they ran home even though the were lost
I remember that one too. Including how the kids found treasure in the witches house and when they got home the mother was gone while the father welcomed them back warmly
@@NUKED0NI0N_978 it was in a version my grandparents had when I was a kid. But in most versions isn’t it the mother that really wanted the kids gone and the father who didn’t?
I feel like our protagonist is suffering from postpartum depression after having Callum or another theory is that she might be suffering from Schizophrenia or paranoia due to her dialog in 41:00 and the medication that she recognizes later on
Definitely seems like she suffers some form of psychosis- the hallucinations, she goes on rambles one minute about how she hates her kid and then a minute later she’s concerned about him, and it seems like due to her dialogue at certain parts of the game, she’s beaten him before but can’t remember it. Maybe it’s a side effect of the electricshock therapy they gave her, or if that just made it worse, but yeah
I think the game's story is kind of like fran bow. A sort of a horror hallucinations trip where while the supernatural elements are all real, the line between reality and fantasy is all jumbled up.
In these games, I've noticed Mike seems genuinely terrified at points. just like that one involving the nightguard and dolls. plus it's pretty legendary to spook the legend of horror games.
36:46 that's not just harsh, that's making zoey from among the sleep look like an angel. Heck, she even makes doug houser look good (or at least competent).
I love when SHB reveals a fear. I’m afraid of heights so I’m gonna play this roller coaster themed game😂, tune in next week when he plays Dolls Eat You Flesh Off in VR 👍🤣
Honestly this game is pretty freaky. I mean, it might just be the eerie aura of the park, the low lighting, or the idea of Steve in general, but this game honestly brings chills to (I’m sure) most of us. It’s really well made, too. Love to see Mike playing it!
Within the first five minutes I can just tell that the mom is either experiencing hallucinations of the park as it used to be before it was shut down, or is imagining the park in this abandoned state when everything is actually perfectly normal. If it's the first one, I think she went back to the park for some reason and is seeing hallucinations of her dead son. Given by the shaking when the player is on the escalator, I believe there was some sort of earthquake that happened.
I like how there's a game out there highlighting the horrors of postpartum depression. My mom had it so it's kinda a great example of my life as the child of the story
This isn't postpartum, that doesn't last past about a year old, this is just her abusing her kid because his daddy didn't marry her before he died and she had a crappy childhood.
psychological horrors will always be my favourite genre, as there is never a correct answer or synopsis for the story itself. Only pieces we can pick apart and put together, like a big ,cruel, horrifying puzzle.
Oh man I've seen theories about this game after watching a playthrough years ago. So excited to see you it! I still hold my old theory that she was suffering PPD or PPP and that the park was feeding off that.
I think the PPD theory really works. You can see that the death of her husband/boyfriend took a massive toll on her, on top of all the emotions of pregnancy and seeing so much of her husband in Calum. Most women are able to get the appropriate help but I feel so badly for Loraine, getting put on medications and even electrotherapy. On top of all that negativity, you have a place built to literally take your joy away and twist it in a way to make you miserable when you leave. I know The Park was made in a generation of games where the main story involved murdered children in rituals, but I think the story about PPD is way more fascinating than an old man kidnapping children.
This game is also part of the overall setting of the Secret World MMO - a world where a great many things are true, eldritch abominations are trying to climb into the living world, and there's a lot manipulating things below the surface.
Ooooooo always love new play through of this game! So eerie but inticing - I really need to play this myself to find all of the little hints and details! Definitely recommend going through the looping room again and checking everything, including the books - they change too…! Also would LOVE to see a Story Explained on this one, maybe touching on the larger story/game this is a part of!
I recognize that version of Hansel and Gretel they used in the game. It was the most well known version, written by the brothers Grimm, even taking dialogue and actions directly from the story, such as the witch saying "Nibble nibble, little mouse, who's that nibbling on my house?" (the response in the original was "the wind, the wind, the heavenly child", and the witch providing a massive meal of pancakes. Hansel also avoided death for a while since the witch measured his finger to see how fat he had become-- since witches have bad eyesight, Hansel simply used a fingerbone in place of his own and the witch eventually decided to just cook him regardless of his weight) as well as Hansel initially using white stones as a trail back home (however, the siblings were not scolded, rather the stepmother rather condescendingly stated she thought they wanted to stay in the woods) The ending is also vastly different, as it ends with the siblings returning to their father with valuables stolen from the deceased witch's home. The ending here is equally fascinating and is a very different take to what I've seen. Most common interpretations of the story generally involve the children returning home to their families with the parent that suggested abandonment being punished for the act with death.
is it just me or did anyody else notice the following things that he missed?: 1. dead body on the very bottom of the screen at 18:42 (Dont tell me that that's Callum........) 2. if u look carefully at the MC and Callum pic at 22:25 , the creepy top-hat guy is in the bg...... 3. in the jumpscare by Laura Henman (?) at 25:40 , theres a teddy bear and a weird goat-looking thing in the bg. 4. she has a tattoo on her hand when she takes the pills at 43:59
So, from rewinding and pausing the video more times than I'd like to admit, I found out what the doors say during the hospital flashbacks while on the rollercoaster. In order of appearance: "All that you love will be carried away." "F@#$ gravity." "Not safe! The League." "I can taste your dreams." I hope this helped you, Mike (tho considering the age of this video, you probably already know by now).
A CLASSIC. One of my favs from the walking sim era, and definitely one of the most underrated. Not to mention willing to deal with a veryyyyy dark story
i saw jacksepticeye this and he stopped reading the notes, i desperately wanted to know more about the story for a while until i forgot, then i saw this years later and it made me so excited. ps jacks play through was amazing, he just wasn’t into the lore as much as i was in that specific game play,
Aaah I'm so happy to see you play The Park~ I watched someone else played it many years ago and didnt see anyone else really cover it as a game, which is a shame bc I feel like its a well-done story and quite underrated. Despite how many years its been, this game kinda stuck with me in the back of my mind. It reminds me a lot of What Remains of Edith Finch whereby its a walking simulator with an engrossing story which I loved a lot. As someone else pointed out, The Park is a spinoff of another game called The Secret World, a horror MMO which takes place in H.P. Lovecraft universe where supernatural horrors very much exist so at least we know for certain The Park is a nexus of bad energies. The many accounts of freak accidents, the mascot going mad and even Lorraine's beau knew the park was full of bad vibes so we know two things: The bad energies were slowly corrupting people the longer they stayed in the park and the whole game basically took place in Lorraine's head. Lorraine has mixed emotions about Callum (in the beginning, she talks about him and recalls their memories fondly) but doesn't deny that motherhood hasn't been easy on her. It could be that because of everything Lorraine went through (broken home, her beau's death, post-partum depression with no support-system), she was easily taken over by the bad energies the last and final time she and Callum went to the park. IMO the ending has two interpretations. One is that Lorraine was corrupted by the bad energies and killed Callum herself. OR Nathanial (the park owner who was still living in the park after it had shut down) killed Callum and Lorraine blames herself for his death, already bearing the guilt of being a 'bad mom' (self-medicating with pills and alcohol, calling herself the witch from the fairytale). Maybe she neglected him and that's how he got abducted so easily or maybe to escape their miserable life at home, he ran away to the park bc it was his favorite place.
This is such a classic horror game, I love this game for what it does for its story and everything, this is pre Fnaf / mascot horror and more amnesia styled and it makes the game a whole lot more unique than the modern horror games we have now. Plus the ending is such a twist.
If you've ever played Secret World Legends, or The Secret World, you'd reconise Atlantic Island Park. It's one of the locations from Solomon Island, where you meet the creature that the original builder became: The Boogieman. Also, that's not post partum depression. It's post partum psychosis.
Nah, it gets about the right amount of attention. It's really not that great of a game. I mean, seriously, we spend *way too long* listening to someone retell 'Hansel and Gretel' for no apparent reason.
I never played The Park, but I used to play Secret World back in the day and Solomon Island in general was my favorite area. It had some of the best locations to explore, including Atlantic Island Park. Lots of fun lore around Solomon Island too.
Funcom is listed on the Oslo stock exchange and had over $6 million USD net income in 2018 (So they're about as indie as an internal EA studio, if that makes sense). That being said, they did seem to be going for a more indie vibe with this.
Gotta say... I alwaTs enjoy the way he says what he needs to in a considerate way without being offensive or controversial. That ending was lovely how admits when he prefers NOT to express an opinion. SHB is one of my top fav YTers
When this game was released I couldn’t find any RUclipsrs that had a full video on it or a completed series so I decided to wait and 4ish years later this is recommended to me. Very excited as your videos are always great and all I can remember about this game is that it’s very fun, the next 1 hour is gonna be a good one for me.
It seems there are two interpretations. One is supernatural, where we believe what we were seeing. The other is psychological, where we believe that everything we were seeing was interpreted by her negativity and bad relationship with the park. Which puts into perspective when she says at the beginning that the park is Callen's "Favorite place".
The story of the seems to be it held a lot of dark energy. The owner had plans to maybe introduce positive energy though making the park. But taking away all the good from the enjoyment led to some bad escaping. This led to people committing sinful acts of murder.
This could be a bit of a stretch, but I think one of the underlying themes to the story could be the cyclical nature of abuse and neglect, and I think the main character is supposed to represent almost all characters in the Hansel and Gretel story. Allow me to explain the Hansel and Gretel theory of mine first. The main character comments on how she viewed her and her son as Hansel and Gretel respectively, with all the opposing forces in the story being the hardships they faced together. She then later comments how, in older iterations of the story, the mother of Hansel and Gretel who wanted them gone and the witch who attempted to eat them were one in the same, and how she fears the exact same thing has become of her. However, I think she also represents the woodcutter (Hansel and Gretel's father), as well as the forest and its crows, with her axe necklace being more of a direct tie to her representation of the woodcutter. The main character is Hansel and Gretel's mother; she wanted to get rid of her child for her own benefit as much as possible. The main character is the woodcutter; she understood she was suffering but had compassion towards her child, yet she DID know getting rid of her kid would alleviate some stress (as messed up as it is). The main character is the witch; she's the villain in her child's story wherein she hurts him. The main character is the crows and the forest; she's done things in her power to keep her child from returning to safety and warmth. And yet she isn't wrong that she's also Gretel, which leads me into my other point. Throughout the game the main character goes on many rides, and the main through-line with all of them seems to be the fact that they repeat or literally go in circles. The swan boats repeat, the octopus ride goes in a circle, the rollercoaster and the ferris wheel just repeat over and over and over. The one ride she didn't get on - the bumper cars - clearly reminds her of a traumatic incident from her past. The main character clearly suffered a lot in life, even at a young age. She thought her mother abandoned her, her dad was an alcoholic who seemed to neglect her needs, she lost the love of her life, and she developed such intense post-partum depression (and perhaps even psychosis) that she harmed herself and her child on multiple occasions. The main character is Gretel; she's a child facing awful situations with only one other person at her side. Despite being an adult, the clear lack of a support group and mental help have resulted in her simply carrying her childhood trauma into her adult life. She's still a traumatized little kid, she's still the little girl in the car that crashed when her father drove drunk, she's still the beat-down person navigating horror after horror with only her child at her side. And so she's Gretel, with the only difference being that she couldn't save Hansel from the witch. If she had, would her son have grown up to do the same to his kids? Maybe his future wife? Or would he have been able to end the cycle of abuse, as much as his mother had hurt him? It's unsure, because while fleeing the witch in his story he ran straight into his demise.
The flashback on the rollercoaster said: "ALL THAT YOU LOVE WILL BE CARRIED AWAY "F*** GRAVITY" "NOT SAFE- THE LEAGUE" "I CAN TASTE YOUR DREAMS" Very unsettling tbh. Also, I haven't seen this game in so long! You just unlock my teenager memory dude!
here’s what i think happened: lorraine experienced severe postpartum depression after the birth of her son, combined with the grief of loss and the pain of unresolved childhood trauma. she was likely numb, dissociative, and disconnected, making it very difficult for her to bond with her child. that is such a vulnerable and difficult place for a human to be in i believe this led to her neglect and abusive behavior towards her son. that was how she chose to cope with her own pain, by taking it out on what she scapegoated as the source of her agony one day she brought callum to the park and he took the opportunity to run away from her. due to the ringmaster/boogeyman (possibly mr. winter) messing with the cursed land and using its powers to fuel himself with the despair and negativity of the park’s incidents, he created chad, meaning callum was vulnerable to this malicious entity when he ran into the witch’s mouth i think lorraine blames herself, and in her mind and soul she relives that night over and over again, and in her eyes she is the one who ultimately killed her son. whether or not she physically committed to murder, she blames herself for his death i think there could be many many interpretations of this story. this is just my own that i was sitting with after watching the playthrough
The park is always funny to me because it's literally a spinoff game for an old MMO I use to play, hard to be scared in an area I most remember killing zombies with a katana in.
Actual Explanation: So, many people seem to think this is about depression and just dark magic stuff, and it is, but it is so much more. So basically, if you have played the game this ties into known as “The Secret World”, you would know that before the events of “The Park” the island that is home to is host to a powerful magical artifact known as a Gaia Engine, and the entire ground is steeped in magic because of it. A man living on the island beforehand named Archibald Henderson figured out you could use human sacrifice and negative emotions to focus and utilize the magic to great effect. He later killed himself when one of his black magic creations killed his only surviving daughter. A few years later, enter Nathaniel Winter, the proprietor of The Park. See, Nathaniel was a coward, he was terrified of dying or of any harm befalling him. So he put in the work to make sure he would never be afraid, ever again. He accumulated wealth and power on an unheard of scale, think Rockefeller/Oil Baron kinda guy. He then learned about magic and decided that this would protect him. He tried to buy his way into the magic society known as the Illuminati, but he didn’t have even a scrap of magical talent, not even enough to make him a junior mage. So they turned him down. This pissed off Winter to such a degree, that now he no longer wanted magic itself, but to become the greatest magician in the world. He searched all over for a way to make himself magical, and found tales of magic on Solomon Island. He went there and began to plot, reading Archibald Henderson’s books. Nathaniel decided to use positive emotions to focus his magic instead of negative ones, building a theme park made of special metal that would absorb the happiness and laughter of the children inside it. He never intended any ill will, but he didn’t intend anything good either. He capped his endeavor off by installing an old piece of magitek (a combination of magic and technology from an age long past) inside the haunted house. This magitek would act as a capacitor, holding the magic and infusing him with it, through the laughter and joy of children. But things went wrong. The metal was not meant to build such large structures, and the construction was fraught with many accidents. These were carefully covered up by Winter though, so the work went on unimpeded. The Park also drained the residents of its happiness, leaving them depressed and bitter and angry instead of joyful. Those already close to the deep end feel right off, in the case of the troubled “Chad the Chipmunk” performer, who after working in the park for so long, snapped one day and murdered several teens. Winter didnt care. He had outbid a very powerful secret society known as the Phoenician Sailors for the capacitor, and he wasn’t going to let a few deaths stand in the way of unstoppable power. Winter began infusing himself with magic more and more, the fearful atmosphere of the Park and the unnatural nature of his work beginning to warp his body into… The Bogeyman. He took on the form of that frightful demigod of children, and began to use fear in addition to joy and laughter to focus his magic. He turned the Park into his own personal playground, where he is alike unto a god. He hates Calum and his Mother because they are already broken, they have no joy or love for him to feed upon, so he takes joy in tormenting them with whatever he can. Its implied however, that perhaps the mask of the Bogeyman wears its hosts more than they wear it… So thats the Park. Any questions are encouraged.
You missed Chad. The psychotic chipmunk is in every ride before something happens. I think you also missed a lot of clues. Look for photographs Also, DON didn't leave the money to his parents: THEY declined Loraines' claim of Callum being Dons' son, taking the money he had for themselves.
Eyes Without Sparkle is an actual book about postnatal depression and psychosis. It was written by a woman named Elaine Hanzak, and it follows her experiences with them. 1:03:11
I just wanted to say thank you for censoring the arm scene. You have no idea how grateful I am. I almost played this game myself but boy oh boy am I glad I saw your play through instead.
Just a heads up, If you don't know, The Park is a spin-off to the secret world legends, a mmo where every myths are real. Kingsmouth is in the solomon islands, first the fog rolls in and zombies starts rising out of the waters Next the filth (black gooey mass that belongs to a outer deity intent to spread corruption to all) has invaded kingsmouth island, infecting it's resident one by one The boogeyman is being powered by a machine that is stored hidden away in the park and lastly Lorraine "Dies" when someone forcefully use a bee (gaia's agents) to become a agent of gaia, ended up dead, though while the bee is restored, she still hasn't gone over her pain yet. Also the park is destroyed when the players manages to destroy the anima capacitor (which the boogeyman is empowered with). the destruction of the anima capacitor also killed the Phoenicians this is a abridged info i have.
Theres hints that there is magical horror stuff on the island. In fact theres several Lovecraft references: Innsmouth is mentioned in one if the news articles The medical practice and the power company ate both Dunwoch. Callum wears a shirt depicting cthulhu.
Oh my god- I remember this movie from YEARS ago, it was awesome and the ending still cofnuses me to this day- I think the main theory is that the mascot is actually her kid, who she accidentally kills because of ptsd or something
Love this game, the fact you can walk around this park in Secret World (Secret World Legends) MMO is neat. Way back when you were able to get the park mascot outfit in the mmo too.
@@absolutelydegenerate1900 just read that lol, after I put my reply, you say it better than I do.
Cool.😎
Yeah, I was getting annoyed at Mike rushing through the game like he was being chased by a monster.

There is a ton of lore in Secret World, some of which can be permanently missed.
thats what i thought, i knew this park and solomon island from secret world myself, such an amazing game
I thought the game looks familiar, and secret world. This was on Ross’s game dungeon.
@@heartless2147 The company saw it fit to monetize it into the ground because the players weren't falling over themselves to drown them in money when it was good. This was a genuinely scary game. Others may not think so, but I definitely did. The park's creepy essence along with the deeper meaning of the mother and son and dialogue tied it together. I'm excited for the story explained. (If there is one)
Edit: If you pay close enough attention, you can hear the mom sound like she's quite literally going insane, as she described earlier in the video about how being a mother can drive you insane.

Given by the shaking when the player is on the escalator, I believe there was some sort of earthquake that happened.

psychological horrors will always be my favourite genre, as there is never a correct answer or synopsis for the story itself. Only pieces we can pick apart and put together, like a big ,cruel, horrifying puzzle.
A story about postpartum depression, depression and trauma mixed in with eldritch horror. Granted the references to HP Lovecraft could be incidental.
Ohhhhh man perfect timing. Just sat down to do some art, now I have something to watch while I do
This was the first Indie horror game I ever fell in love with. The merry go round gets me hyped every time.
Hansel also avoided death for a while since the witch measured his finger to see how fat he had become-- since witches have bad eyesight, Hansel simply used a fingerbone in place of his own and the witch eventually decided to just cook him regardless of his weight) as well as Hansel initially using white stones as a trail back home (however, the siblings were not scolded, rather the stepmother rather condescendingly stated she thought they wanted to stay in the woods)
The ending is also vastly different, as it ends with the siblings returning to their father with valuables stolen from the deceased witch's home.
The ending here is equally fascinating and is a very different take to what I've seen. Most common interpretations of the story generally involve the children returning home to their families with the parent that suggested abandonment being punished for the act with death.
I legit forgot that this game existed because it's been so long since I first heard of it back in high school! I'm excited to see how this turns out!

"Mommy's coming Calum! She just needs to stop and ride each ride first! I'll be there in a few hours! You'll be fine!"
The story of the seems to be it held a lot of dark energy. The owner had plans to maybe introduce positive energy though making the park.
But taking away all the good from the enjoyment led to some bad escaping. This led to people committing sinful acts of murder.
Who knew a simple named game would be a horrifying horror game that stole most of our hearts? I didn’t.
This game has been a long time favorite of mine. Thanks for playing it again and giving me some great nostalgia, Mike!
Almost 15 minutes early! Another great video to watch from my favourite youtuber :D

"ALL THAT YOU LOVE WILL BE CARRIED AWAY
"F*** GRAVITY"

Very unsettling tbh. Also, I haven't seen this game in so long! You just unlock my teenager memory dude!
here’s what i think happened:
lorraine experienced severe postpartum depression after the birth of her son, combined with the grief of loss and the pain of unresolved childhood trauma. she was likely numb, dissociative, and disconnected, making it very difficult for her to bond with her child. that is such a vulnerable and difficult place for a human to be in
i believe this led to her neglect and abusive behavior towards her son. that was how she chose to cope with her own pain, by taking it out on what she scapegoated as the source of her agony
one day she brought callum to the park and he took the opportunity to run away from her. due to the ringmaster/boogeyman (possibly mr. winter) messing with the cursed land and using its powers to fuel himself with the despair and negativity of the park’s incidents, he created chad, meaning callum was vulnerable to this malicious entity when he ran into the witch’s mouth
i think lorraine blames herself, and in her mind and soul she relives that night over and over again, and in her eyes she is the one who ultimately killed her son. whether or not she physically committed to murder, she blames herself for his death
i think there could be many many interpretations of this story. this is just my own that i was sitting with after watching the playthrough

Kingsmouth is in the solomon islands, first the fog rolls in and zombies starts rising out of the waters
Next the filth (black gooey mass that belongs to a outer deity intent to spread corruption to all) has invaded kingsmouth island, infecting it's resident one by one
The boogeyman is being powered by a machine that is stored hidden away in the park
and lastly
Lorraine "Dies" when someone forcefully use a bee (gaia's agents) to become a agent of gaia, ended up dead, though while the bee is restored, she still hasn't gone over her pain yet.
Also the park is destroyed when the players manages to destroy the anima capacitor (which the boogeyman is empowered with). the destruction of the anima capacitor also killed the Phoenicians
