Thanks for this. After adding tools like Clear and dxRevive this year which made a big jump in quality, I figured I'm ready to take another step after watching your video. Do you have non-Sonible recommendations for a Limiter and Compressor? Happy to use affiliate links if you have them.

@@jesse.mccune Great question. I am totally new to working with limiters and compressors (and e.q. for that matter), so ease of use for a newcomer is probably tops. Maybe that falls under U.I.? This is going to fall on me in general to educate myself on properly applying these tools, but something that eases me into it is probably the most important criteria.

@Mike_Audio Sonible would be my recommendation for your situation, but you asked for non-Sonible options. If I'm not using Sonible, I'm usually using FabFilter or Universal Audio plugins. I like FabFilter because they have great UI/UX. Their plugins make it easy to see and hear what you're doing and what is being done to the audio. I use these by default when I'm coaching someone because of the UI/UX. It makes it easier for them to understand what I'm doing. I use Universal Audio stuff because I've been using them forever.
In podcasting, there isn't much difference in limiters. As long as it shows your loudness in LUFS and uses True Peak limiting, they will all get the job done. There are so many options with compressors, I'll just list the ones I tend to use for podcasts. The LA2A can be a little too slow for fast transients, so I pair it with the 1176 to catch those peaks. I really haven't used the 1176 and LA2A in a couple years because I prefer to keep things simple and use one compressor. The Sonible, FabFilter, and 2500 all fit that bill.

@@jesse.mccune Thanks! I tried buying a bundle from Sonible based on you always talking about them. I’ll spare you the long version, but the ordering process got stuck which made it impossible to successfully start over, then an e-mail to support got bounced back as spam (with the explanation given that it was their server causing an issue, not my e-mail flagged as spam.) I’m sure with time it might get sorted, but I’m starting a new project and hoping to incorporate this. No disrespect meant to Sonible, but I needed to pivot to a Plan B, not deal with a company's payment processing and e-mail/website issues. I’ll explore the links you shared.
