Huh
An audio engineer's video has out of phase audio, NICE
Theo Hoffstrom pheeww thought it was just me
That seems to be a meme at this point.
Literally all audio related videos have terrible audio. Too funny.
I wanted to say a well known meme "my left ear enjoyed this", but since its a video about sound engineer I thought, that its just me. Well...
Haha
Well i didnt notice cus im watching this in my studio, i was running mono, until i read this i set to my stereo monitors , i died lol
ironically the audio for this video is garbage
Yeah I actually am nauseous from listening to this
It’s her voice tbh makes me want to off myself
maybe they should've paid her to do it lol
😂😂 wow u become audio eng bro
My first thought was that ironically the audio on this video is trash and then i scrolled down and this was the first comment.
Writing, recording and mixing everything yourself is soooo fulfilling. I learned how to record and mix during the pandemic, after playing for 20 or so years. I've made about 400 demos so far and I feel so much more confident with my mixing now. I cannot tell you how many hours of my life I've spent just listening to different mics in different positions
Wheres your music?
Would y’all rather make 40k a year working a dead-end job you hate? or 40k doing something you love? & something that can open doors and connections that can change your life.
def 40k
definitely something i love. im getting tired of going to work every week stressing and not doing what i love for a living
FACTS
$40K though…..that’s not a lot of money. In my country that’s what Welfare pays.
Here too
She does alot of networking, can't expect everyone to come to you. Until you get to a spot you like where word of mouth generates your paid gigs you need to keep on reaching out. She can get paid way more if she wanted to, it all depends on your lifestyle. Some are good with more, some are good with less.
exactly!! this was when i just started. 2 years later i have a full time job in post production while also freelancing on the side and i'm making $90K a year!
@Mariah&WhitneyLamb Ypu don’t work for company, you sell your service to a company. You are your own boss/business
*right ear has left the chat*
this made me chuckle like Patrick Star
good audio engine am I right
Wow this is fab! I wish this lady all the best of luck in the future of audio engineering! I'm really enthusiastic and passionate about music, and always had a keen eye for this sort of a career, but I dont know if I could get my poor old brain to take in all the info as theres so much to learn lol! .. I respect how very rewarding and exciting it much be knowing your name is out there on an album. very cool !
This is Gold for me. Love to hear these type of interviews....you will def make it just keep working at it🙏🏼🤘🏼
I love your videos and the advice you gave on how to start off as an Audio Engineering thanks for that
Bless Khan Academy!! Continuing to teach me vital information since elementary school
Oh my gosh, thank you for this video! 💕
Bravo, Kelly! Keep on keepin' on.
This really helps me a lot, this is the career i want to study
how's it going so far?
This video has excellent Information. It's a great career path with a lot of potential today. I love talking on the topic! Thanks for video!
Thank You Very Much, for making such a great video. And, you gave us some great gems. Thanks Again !!!
This really makes me cry, i'd like to be a music engineer :,)
Valerio Buda same here
@UCYiwLKohaFXpZbJ2mLP6rag Make it happen :-)
Same here i think I'm too old now.
@@lateshiachilds3640 You're never to old. If not early better later than never.
@@landendrake1696 thanks for saying that
My right ear is lonely :(
*Left*
@@flappymlg3607 it's bouncing from left to right. I think it's because of the phase issue.
yep, it also happened to me with my record player :(
the irony here is too much lol
what why?
yeah lol. the sound is making me nauseous
@@claratravella1942poor audio on a video about audio engineering is like a gourmet chef serving you raw chicken
Really enjoyed this video, very informative and REAL.
This is actually pretty accurate. Which is sad since audio engineers with some clout would earn 80-100+k back in the early 90s/2000s. And I’m an audio engineer and earn a lot less than this from strictly audio, then again my client base has never let me go full time. If i did get that it would be about 60k. But that likely won’t happen anytime soon. I strong suggest not being an audio engineer since most people know the basics enough to mix themselves. And most studios have only a couple of engineers and most new studios these days are owned by the audio engineer. And having enough gear of your own is a LOT money to start a business along with a good space to record in.
Congrats keep up the great work. I loved your video by the way. Be Blessed.
Good work, Nice studio!
I want to do this while also teaching music and also do some performing, this is cool
This gave me motivation to get myself out there. I got a lot of mixing skills that I utilize with my own projects but having it as a work would be an absolute dream come true. Also money would be nice, currently I was barely able to pay the rent, lol.
Excellent video!
This is what i'm thinking of doing do like a 2yr broadcasting degree than afterwards go into a 4yr college & do a degree in audio engineering
this was so inpsiring !
wow she is my inspiration
Thank you love.❤
keep it up go getter. REspects to you
when i have a minor hearing loss from my left ears and love music
yo that audio track tho, khan academy should check their videos before uploading! :D
Awesome video! Really got a clear view of what audio engineering is and what i have to do to get into it. I’m looking into audio engineering as a career and this video really helped with some of the questions I had!
@Gustavo Stabe I know right !! Khan Academy is a lifesaver !
You know this video is being watched by engineers or hopefuls,
There's literally 500 comments about "out of phase" audio on this video 🤣
how many opportunities do you get to work at live music events?
That drawer, where all the microphones just bang on each other :-( It hurts to see that...
Eeek, sound a lil out of phase, eh?
A "lil"?? Lol a lot
The irony 😂
I’m a sound guy for my church as my main position. But I do many other things like cleaning and reception, online/website, technical support. Back up drumming. Did song service once and I indirectly preach. We stream our headquarters service so it’s my task to stream them. A music school called me and said they have a work program. Their program is very expensive so he is talking about a an employment program I guess like an apprenticeship. Tomorrow I’ll hear the guy out.
the very sad truth is that with the growing list of clients not caring about quality, or want to spent the money, nowadays audio engineers are still making 40-50k a year and it's not sustainable
i really loved your approach is there anyway i could contact you for further endeavors
Congrats to your success:))
Feel like you already surpassed 30% live engineers saying you 'see who I can help and how'.. 👑
So im almost 42 white woman and I've always loved heavy base audio. I have an associates in business specializing in legal law. My professional career is in construction and Power sports mechanics. I used to be a firedancer and firefighter. This is my calling in life. I want people from the daily quad rider to musicians on stage experience the most their audio can offer. Its therapeutic.
Come on Guys! She is only 25, and still Student while making 40K and can produce a band. You should encourage her just for that initial effort. I know that video sound quality is near amateur and annoying. Phase or EQ seem to be the problem. Even though her voice seem compressed.
Thank god for my mono switch
I used to sit at my parent's Hammond organ. play a note on the presets and match it on the drawbars. One out of five times I'd give up and be one number off on one drawbar. Then I got tinnitus.
the audio for this has so many phasing issues wtf. And It sounds like the voice is coming from behind me
The degree only helps on job applications if you plan on working at a studio or other organization, if you just want to be an artist you can get a lot further in 4 years by teaching yourself and networking without having any debt. I’ve already worked freelance in a couple places but location is a big factor because I live in Atlanta so music and artistic opportunity is literally around every corner. The field you choose to work and where you choose to work are very important, live and work in a hub and you’ll find work easier but stand out less. Live and work in an area where the market is less developed you’ll stand out but have to put in much more effort to find work. Same with any field really
My thing is I want to make music, and I have been trying to self teach for about 5 months now and I have learned a lot but when it comes to plugins I wanna know what does what. What does attack do and how do I use it, what is threshold and how do I use that, so I want to know what does what I don’t wanna be mindlessly turning knobs that I have no idea what they are for, does this catagory fall into music production or audio engineering???
I want to know this too
good job
I am surprised khan academy has this
Been going to the same studio engineer for 11 years! I bet if I ever seriously date, the guy I date probably get suspicious and start hatin!
Great video thanks for sharing your experience!!
why does her voice like she's near crying.
Lol Ong
She's nervous

start with your video sound,i tought my amp lost left channel each time
*Watching a Sound Engineer video*
*75% of sound on the left earbud*
What's going on???
Uhm
i mean what's with the audio of this video jiggling from side to side lmao
Thanks
I am 20 years old and my first year in college studying to b one in 2 years I will b done
how is it going
where
In two years you will just be getting started!
Even though i don’t know how to do this but the part where she said the screeching part is her biggest enemy
I can relate to that
so i was not the only one who notice that switch on seconds 0:22- 0:23
Going in to my softmore year next semester. Really thinking of pursuing this. Audio engineers out there, is it worth going to college for a degree in audio engineering?
Going to college opens doors and if you're lucky and smart can be for a network not really guarantees into your success in the industry, the more practice you have the better so all the best
Where are you going and what degree are you going for. I’m looking for a place to take on this career
Went to a trade school 5 years ago. Currently engineer for a church both Live Sound and Post Production. It's worth it if you stay humble, never stop being a student and always be a cool hang. I thank God for my job cuz I know it's a blessing!
No
Go to a recording studio school
Very awesome job
What course should i take to become audio engineer is it okay if it is multimedia computing and accounting?
Or is it okay if i took electronic and communication engineering?
I made 40k right out of high school working in a factory - mindless work. I couldn't imagine working THAT hard, getting a degree, and then only making 40k - it's insulting.
Wow I love what I see. Fantastic
She's gonna get better, all I can say about this
She seems cool
Is it worth going to a university or college for recording?
the first and biggest thing..dont think about the money when you do this job..it was the first thing she mentioned
Hey, people love money
Absolutely, but if you have a wife and kids you need to know if it's enough to sustain them.
Why is the audio on this so bad
That Trident tho...
have you done audio engineering course or are you self taught?
Bachelors of Science in Multidisciplinary studies at West Virginia University in Music Tech, Theatre and Advertising and then Masters of Science in Recording Arts from University of Colorado Denver
The stereo image on this video is messed up. Out of phase maybe? It's really bad. EDIT: just realized others have pointed this out.
I want to be Audio Engineer but I live in Ghana so please how am I gonna get this kind of Education about how to become an Audio Engineer.... Please Can someone help me.. I'm so desperate for this and its apart of me...
Lancelot brown what can i do
@@latinpianist yeah ??
Guys remember y'all have Internet, find someone relevant and if yall decide to go college it's mainly for the network and can open opportunities not necessarily to give you everything you need for the future those are the major advantages of college to be very honest, but you still can make.it once you research and are able to find a sustainable mentor, all the best hope this helps
Start by taking online classes.
I want to know what band she mixed for :(
3:21 so that’s what they do
$40k???? Your doing something wrong. You just named 4 unique jobs where in a year doing all that you should be making over $150k…
A1
wow you need to work for the singer SIA
40k in USA is quite low isn't it? In Finland, I'd live very well...
how is she an audio engineer and all the audio is panned to the right?
Should have got her to produce the audio on this lol
Can you mix a song for me
Am 24 working a dead end job, is it too late to start?
Hell no it's not too late. I'm going to be 30 in two days and I just went to speak to an advisor at the local community college so I can better myself.
Never think it's too late. You have this one life and you get to choose what path you take.
Best of luck ✨
Negative comments no matter what video you click on, douchebags..I found this helpful in a way
Keep it up girl!
Negative comments are only about the audio not her. Lol.
People are saying the audio in this video is bad but it's really not bad. im listening to this video on jbl 530's and the audio is super clean and I can tell the room is sound proofed.
Is good for her as an audio engineer and under graduate student, but for us as mixing and mastering engineer that amount of money just like one to 2 songs it can cost .
This is my dream job! How can I get into this? Any suggestions on how I can get into this?
this is exactly what Im trying to figure out
P.S.Y CLEZ there’s probably a music prod and Djing school in your city, go enroll in one they’re usually not expensive. The truth is that in sound jobs are usually underpaid therefore you should build a career path for yourself. If you want a simple answer for an easy route in this industry, that is to go learn how to Dj in a school in your city ( which probably lasts a few months) that way you can know how clubs function in your areas and network with people who will certainly find you gigs, which are usually not paid for at first, but as time passes you’ll probably get paid 500$ per night per average. One of my friends Did a gig in berghain for 30 hours switching with another dude and got paid 20k$. Secure a skill in Djing make quick money out of it save half invest the rest in building your production career and pay you bills 🤣.
@Ash Bajaj not a music college, a part time school. no DJ goes to a college, it's a waste of time and money.
Search audio engineering schools
I recommend looking into CRAS, they offer audio engineering and it only takes 9 months until you’re onto an internship
I thought my audio driver was broken...
40 k wait 😮😢
40k? That aint much in America 😟
How did you pay for school?
I worked as a bartender throughout my undergrad and took out student loans for only what I needed for tuition and am now paying it back slowly!
@AwesomeBrilliance Go indie.
40k is underpaid to be called an "engineer."
Luis Felipe Espiritusanto u r just lookin at the surface of water. she is still a student in college n we don’t know how she would possibly to make few yrs later
@@tyk6760 the high end average is 54k...
Yeah, but the job is really fun
Streaming certainly isn't helping the average audio engineer lol
depends on what type of engineer you are, right?
Proud of you
40k? Damn that sucks
@@LOLBu I think he means more that 40k is fairly low for what she does.
She works for herself. She designed her own business model. Nobody said you have to work that cheap.
This field varies a lot, the engineers that work on really big projects may get paid $500/hr or more
40K isn’t low bro!!!! 😂😂😂😂 it’s actually pretty good you’re the type of dude that has so many debts
This was the year i started my company - and it's hard to make a lot in the music/live sound industry in Denver, CO. I moved into post production and am now making $90K a year 2 years later!
How r doing?
2 years later i have a full time job in post production while also freelancing on the side and i'm making $90K a year!
Kelly Kramarik what are you post producing ?
Doesn't the Mic pick up the speaker for feedback? The speaker can't pick up the Mic....
WAS IT KRAFTWERK?
