Yeah, me too, man. I'm thinking he might have recorded some jazz tunes written by himself. Also, he would have gotten married and tried out acting as well (Mickey Rourke approached him about it). I've watched all the interviews here on YT (or almost all?) to get as much info as I can on him. Meanwhile I've been on a blues kick these days!
Awesome. I've said it before, but no one, nowhere will ever replace Stevie. Ever. He was one in a million. Thank you for posting! Love you always, Sevie.
I wish there was a better this version of this. SRV absolutely smokes the living shit out of this jam. Going Down is one of my favorite blues tunes of all time, and this version ranks alongside Freddie's incredible original version. This is a teachable moment for anyone who wants to jump on the Stevie playing style. Incredible how deep he digs. He gets more out of 5 notes in one position than most main stream guitarists get out of an entire freboard's worth of notes.
You could sound like him. But try playing like him. Of course you would sound like Stevie because you would have his same set up. That’s as far as it would go though.
@@ontariobudsI’ve listened to many trying to imitate SRV with the same setup.NO ONE comes close. I can listen and tell with my eyes closed, no problem.
@@Sig.40Mayer but obviously Nobody is SRV… but John is pretty good at it has that style pretty mastered without trying to do things to close which is why Stevie’s guitar tech went on to work for John for a number of years
Everybody else was prancing around in spandex and Aqua Net with makeup running down their faces but Stevie was just taking a Strat and burning down houses.
I saw Stevie Ray at the Saenger Theater in Pensacola, Florida in 1987. Omar and the Howlers opened for him and it was incredible, to say the least. To this day, one of the best concerts I've ever attended. Absolutely unforgetable, awesome. Stevie Ray is immortal.
@edmeixtervonfrague Amen brother! I had the pleasure of meeting Stevie a couple of times, and I can tell you that he was as sincere off stage as he was on. The cat played his heart out at every performance, and he always nailed it. The great thing about Stevie's playing is that it was as you said, spontaneous. He didn't over-think the music. Pure blues comes from the soul, not the head. Real blues fans respect Stevie, and we miss him terribly.
great song choice. What a great job of paying homage to one of his heroes without it being a "cover band" version, makes it his own for the night. thanks for posting. Freddy would be proud if he could sit here and watch this.
This is SRV playing some hard rock. I love it. I feel like he was transitioning into a more hard rock guitar playing. Too bad we will never know what else he had for us.
Don’t care what anyone says this guy was The number one player at this time. Absolutely just flows out of him effortlessly. Absolutely crushing it and would go all night. Used extremely heavy strings to get this tone. Nobody did it better!!!
This whole show is just badass! 7/15/90 in St. Louis, a little over a month before Stevie died. This whole show used to be on here but the user took it down. It's good to see some more of this brilliant show. Stevie's playing as usual is badass, and that strut he has is so damn cool too. Stevie was sure one of a kind. R.I.P. Stevie!!!!! Thanks for the upload! If you have anymore of this show please post it!
Thank you for posting this. I saw him one time a long time ago and it's really appreciated that you took the time to post this. I listen to those same 5 or 6 CD's in my car almost everyday and they never get old to me. This video made my day. The world could have used a little more SRV.
I do not believe Leo Fender thought that his creation was ever meant to sound anything like this. I mean really..... this is absolutely insane, and whats even more unbelievable is he played this song hundreds of times and never played it the same way twice. I always wonder which stratosphere he would have taken his music next. Jazz-blues? blues -flamenco-jazz-rock? Guess we'll never know.... thank God for the people who post this stuff.
I agree, never heard a more pissed-off, angry, beastly sounding Strat than the one in Stevies hands. I’m surprised those single coil pickups weren’t unwinding themselves and catching fire
I would rather see SRV walk on stage, sit down and drink a coffee compared to all others alive today, and I would feel I got my moneys worth. SRV.........A total legend in this or any other century.
We were all so lucky to witness such an incredible human being....What can i say Stevie?? You didn't just knock 'em dead-you tore 'em up into little tiny pieces.lol "So what did you think of the other band??.....................Who??!lol
Stevie Ray is the only guy who can do this song any better than Freddie King! Awesome version, too bad there is not a single version of this song by Stevie Ray available on CD.
Same with me brother. I heard him on the radio while driving with my uncle and I asked who it was. I went home and searched Stevie Ray Vaughan and the first video I ever say was Texas Flood at The El Mocambo and I was sold after that.
This looks like footage from SRV's concert at the Fox Theater in St. Louis. He was touring with Joe Cocker and we drove by and saw the marquee, lucked into some of the last tickets available. Wish someone had film of SRV and Joe performing together.
@bluesify100 There's actually footage of him playing two nights after this in Denver and there's footage of him on the first night of Alpine Valley (I have footage of that on my channel)
Now there's a man who knows how to beat the shit out of a guitar and make it sound GODLY! Thanks for this post!
Imagine the stuff Stevie would've created had he not.....
It makes me want to scream.
Yeah, me too, man. I'm thinking he might have recorded some jazz tunes written by himself. Also, he would have gotten married and tried out acting as well (Mickey Rourke approached him about it). CooManTunes makes me want to cry
caught in the crossfire.....ur right sir
Awesome. I've said it before, but no one, nowhere will ever replace Stevie. Ever. He was one in a million. Thank you for posting! Love you always, Sevie.
I agree with you one million percent! There will never be another Stevie Ray Vaughan!
Nobody. Nobody, played like Stevie. He was a force of nature. Unmistakable. Unmatched. Unparalleled.
I wish there was a better this version of this. SRV absolutely smokes the living shit out of this jam. I can't get enough of him and this song
Amen.
Sayng "you can sound like him if you have the same equipment" is like saying "you can paint like Van Gogh if have the same palette and paints".
You could sound like him. But try playing like him. Of course you would sound like Stevie because you would have his same set up.
That’s as far as it would go though.
Wouldn't sound like him even with the set up. You don't have his hands.

You can tell he enjoyed playing this song as much as I enjoyed listening to it.
Yep, that is Stevie playing his strat in drop D(b) tuning.
Best cover of this song I've ever seen.
Search Jeff Beck and Stevie. It may not be as good as this but Stevie destroyed Jeff Beck.
Actually Stevie played a half step down, so E flat etc.

Everytime I hear his music or see a video it makes me miss what he brought even more
I've never heard SRV do this song and I thought I'd heard everything he ever did . Love it .
SRV was a God! Many may be able to play Stevie's music, but no one can play it like Stevie!
there will never, ever be another stevie ray. ever.
This is SRV playing some hard rock. I love it. I feel like he was transitioning into a more hard rock guitar playing. Too bad we will never know what else he had for us.
He was the best...played every note you could imagine listening to in your head...amazing.
I saw SRV at Madison Square Garden. Jeff Beck was on stage with Stevie playing this. God I miss Stevie.
It's such a shame that this didn't make it to to a record. I regularly jam his a Jeff becks version of this song from RUclips
Don’t care what anyone says this guy was The number one player at this time. Absolutely just flows out of him effortlessly. Absolutely crushing it and would go all night. Used extremely heavy strings to get this tone. Nobody did it better!!!

2:47- 2:55...Definitely in the upper reaches of the atmosphere!!
Stevie scratching the top of our skulls lol.

oh jeez..... just blew me away
Whoever gave this a thumbs down is fucking brain dead. He makes it look so effortless. He was incredible.
and that's how you play guitar...
Love it as always. R.I.P my friend!!
Wow. This does Freddy King justice.

For reals tho tell me how his music never gets old. Stevia ray vaughn nd metallica have the best music never gets old
The world could have used a LOT more Stevie!! I’m still devastated over his passing, I don’t think I’ll ever get over it 😔
Look at that foot work!! SRV is allways finding new ways to amaze me!
Stevie Ray, I never got to see you in concert, but you are a GOD!!!
he could literally chop down mountains with dat axe.
Nice!
Or with edge of his hand
Nah, only Jimi can chop mountains down with his hand.
Yeah he murdered that poor jeff beck song
I think this is my favourite bluesrock tune of all times and it is one of the best songs for jammin
This is why I say I love Stevie Ray Vaughan. So smooth, but the sound of the guitar makes him look like a total bad-ass.
Damn.
Awesome
Playing above the Venue and Crowd.
I do not believe Leo Fender thought that his creation was ever meant to sound anything like this. Thank you for the heads up, am going to watch now.
I would rather see SRV walk on stage, sit down and drink a coffee
compared to all others alive today, and I would feel I got my moneys worth.
SRV.........A total legend in this or any other century.

Just takes your breath away, theres also a great version with Jeff Beck on you tube, not to be missed.

Something like that, his ABSOLUTLY AMAZING.
His music just makes me HAPPY!
Legendary...
we covered the box SRV set version of this tune a little over 10 years ago. Playing the first lead is one of the high points of my life.

He still blows me away
❤❤❤
Beautiful.
So fucking clean and he's sober!! Awesome! Clean and Sober
Fuckin smoking. Stevie was a step above. So effortless

Saw him do this in Miami (Fla.) with Jeff Beck (1988) was awesome!
Just imagine what he played when no one was around !
So wonderfull!!!!
Out of all this is the best
We were all so lucky to witness such an incredible human being....What can i say Stevie?? You didn't just knock 'em dead-you tore 'em up into little tiny pieces.lol
"So what did you think of the other band??.....................Who??!lol
The Guitar Hurricane hisself.

His spirit knew his time was running out.
Thats probably why he performed that song
awsome
Rock and roll blues 😂
God Damn he was great.
Stevie was just diffrent diffrent. What a loss.
Amazing
Imagine if Jimi and Stevie were alive today...... Lady Gaggin would have never existed! They would have not allowed it! :)
@56kidd I absolutely love the Saenger Theater in PC, and Love Stevie!
Stevie Ray is the only guy who can do this song any better than Freddie King! Awesome version, too bad there is not a single version of this song by Stevie Ray available on CD.
Thanks
Epic.
so glad someone bootlegged this!!!
He died before I knew who he was. I really missed out!
Same with me brother. I heard him on the radio while driving with my uncle and I asked who it was. I went home and searched Stevie Ray Vaughan and the first video I ever say was Texas Flood at The El Mocambo and I was sold after that.
Kickass
pleasure is all mine!:)
I can't hear it happening, but I'm SURE Stevie got a standing ovation after his guitar solo.
Rare.....very cool post
This looks like footage from SRV's concert at the Fox Theater in St. Louis. He was touring with Joe Cocker and we drove by and saw the marquee, lucked into some of the last tickets available.
Wish someone had film of SRV and Joe performing together.
R.I.P
Dam I miss that guy...😢
Damn....look at that feet work
Lone Star!
@gypsy469 There is a BIG diference between copy and cover;) Hope all covers would be that good as this.
@dontanner232 Freddie covered this song just like Stevie. And Stevie learned this song as a friendly nod to Jeff Beck who famously covered it too
Sawr em Louisville KY before...
I agree. SRV had a lot of skin and sweat in the game and he left a lot of it on the stage.
love the mailbox stickers on the get tar
always such a sharp dresser! (*,-)
he can get ride this boogie horse DOWN!!!!!!!!!
😍
St Louis, MO 07/15/1990
@bluesify100 There's actually footage of him playing two nights after this in Denver and there's footage of him on the first night of Alpine Valley (I have footage of that on my channel)
