If you're desperate to experience it, not saying it will necessarily work for you.. But for me, If I eat a crap load of Red Leicester cheese before going to bed, works every time!
The first few times it happened at frightened the life out of me.
Then once I realised I could control it, I got curious. No other cheese does it, only Red Leicester.
Sometimes it lasts for a couple of seconds sometimes it feels like it's lasting for an eternity.
Who knows how long it really lasts, you can't exactly look at your watch.
All perception of time is lost, it might just be a few waking microseconds, certainly something different to experience.

what's it called when you yawn really big and like a ball feeling thing gets pushed out in your neck slightly below the jaw (usually right side for me)
and it kinda hurts/freaks you out, & only goes away when you push that spot back in??

Me too. The last episode i had was about 2 months ago and it was the first time i felt tactile sensation. I was laying on my side looking at the wall in the dark and felt a hand slowly slide it's hand around my waste and spoon up to me, arm eventually fully wrapped around me. It was utterly terrifying. I kept trying to close my eyes so i wouldn't have to see whatever it was. Often i can't make any noise, but sometimes I'm able to groan long and loud enough to break the episode.
Most of the time it's just a presence watching, approaching, or finding it's way into my room. The most recent really disturbed me though and I felt dread all day long. Sucks to have this. Going on 13 years now.

This used to happen to me all the time at my parents’ house. Sometimes, I would wake up and see the dark figure and realize that I was still asleep. The only thing that would help was praying during my episodes. When I moved out, I had my house blessed. Now I have sleep paralysis about once or twice a year. I haven’t seen the figure for 5 years.

Snap. Black figures hold me down. My eyes are open in the dark and I can see the actual time on the clock. Saying the Lord’s Prayer in my mind releases them. Don’t know why I thought of doing that as I’m not that religiously minded. Although once after I was released I then sat up and three dark figures were at the bottom of the bed, watched me for a few seconds, turned and walked off. A tad disconcerting! My dad used to experience this too.

Happened to me once in my 20s. I was under a lot of stress and dealing with panic disorder that was not controlled. It was the craziest hallucination and feeling I've ever experienced. Feeling trapped and seeing a shadow on top of you isn't fun. I knew what it was, so it wasn't concerning. The part I hated was going to sleep thinking if it would happen again.

I would see a bizarre, fuzzy figure who looked like static out of an old VHS, but all black. I’d also see weird figures moving in the room where my eyes couldn’t quite move to.
I remember staring at it and bringing my heart rate down, but then it went back up again because I started to get angry that it wouldn’t just end. It felt like it went on for hours, even though I know it was probably seconds.

About 20 years ago, I would have sleep paralysis every night for several months. I would feel it coming on as I drifted off to sleep. It was horrible! I don't remember seeing anything evil but the sense of fear was unreal. I would try to get my husband to wake me up (in my "dream" ) yet to him I was laying there sound asleep. But to me, I'm fighting to move and fight trying to wake up yet in reality I wasn't moving an inch. It was the worst!! When I finally did wake up I would be.so relieved but afraid to try to go back to sleep because I was afraid it would happen again. Most of the time it did. It was horrifying and I am so glad they finally stopped.

I've only experienced sleep paralysis when I was very sleep deprived. So, I've actually come to expect it when I know I haven't slept well the night before or past few nights. And I never see any monsters either. I often just experience the symptoms. To counteract it, I start wiggling my toes until I can move my legs and then my upper body. Works every time. Makes the experience far less stressful.

Same to the toes... Or fingers. I'm not sure why it always works but it does.
Trying to move bigger body parts takes forever and is a struggle if I don't try toes or fingers first. If I do? I'm able to move my digits within seconds and rest of the body almost immediately after.

I'm 43 now and still experience it, just that now I dont panic anymore and I know when it's happening I just try to move my arm, my wife also knows when it is happening because she hears me grunting when it happens, and so I taught her to pull my arm when she hears me because trying to just call my name doesnt work, a part of my body has to moved for me to wake up.

I've been experiencing sleep paralysis for my entire life. Actually had one last night. If i fall back to sleep during it, instead of trying to shake myself out of it, i can lucid dream. That is difficult though because of how scared and helpless I feel so i usually fight hard to wake myself up.
I notice it will 100% happen if i eat late and sleep on my right hand side. I think it has something to do with my body digesting whatever i eat and over stimulating my brain.

Happened to me a lot when I was a teen in college. No vision of monster, aliens or old hags around me, just feeling painfuly awake, aware that I didn't feel myself breathing and I was paralized. Strangely, just the fear made me hyperventilate. I couldn't feel it but I could hear it, and I woke up a short while later. Happened to me the most when I was really tired and a few times a night.

I had it once during broad daylight, but I was able to see and hear my mother’s and sister’s spirit and suddenly a force pulled me backwards and I snapped back into my body. 1st episode I had: "I believe in alien abduction now."
2nd episode: "The ghost from the movie Mama is hovering above me and staring at me through the covers."
Second time wasn't as bad because I looked up my first experience online and learned about sleep paralysis. So this time was terrifying, but I knew that I was just hallucinating. I was petrified, but I just remained as calm as possible and tried to control my breathing. I don't know how long it lasted (1, 2 or 5 minutes?), but I just let it pass.

I believe some things cannot be explained scientifically. When I was 19 a fortune teller made some crazy predictions about my life that all came to pass. That’s when I realize that some things are beyond science. As for sleep paralysis I have come to the conclusion that this is paranormal activity. Because all of us see the same entities. The last incident I had was last year when a grey humanoid old demon was choking me. Did some research later and it was the old hag.

      @Elemblue2 10 месяцев назад +21

It is wild to me that you specified that they moved out of your room, and that some are scarier than others, because *that is a specific feature of my own as well.*
In my first experience, I had no idea what was going on. But there was something behind me. I heard it moving and that's what woke me up. I took inventory of what I had control of and realized I had control of single muscle in my lower leg. I noticed when I moved that muscle, I got control of the ones around it. I basically thrashed my way out of the paralysis using that, using one leg to kick the other awake ext. The I heard a few small scraping sounds of it leaving. By the time I managed to force myself awake, it had left. I mean I was aware of it leaving. When I got myself up, I checked the door and it was locked still. That really freaked me out.
The second time I was in a large room. I was facing the wall. I woke up to the light scraping of someone walking around the far portion of the room. I assumed it was someone else in the building, but when I tried to look I was unable too. I listened to it move around, all the while becoming more congnicent of how weird it was I couldnt move. Eventually I decided it was time to turn over, and I started doing the thrashing thing again, which is a pretty effective way to break yourself out. You just need to find one muscle that responds and go from there. I heard it leave. In fact, it left rather urgently when I started doing that. It had to travel a significant distance across the room.
I finally grabbed awakeness and turned over. Nothing was there. I went around the place and asked the people in it if they had been in this room and they said no. I dont live in a place where people mess with eachother, and there would have been no reason to lie, so I trust their answers completely. Also when people wake me up, I am awake instantly. Not this weird way.
The parrallel of the thing leaving freaks me out.

I encounter this frequently especially when I am sleep deprived. The experience was always panic inducing when I was young, but as time goes on, my brain has adapted and can easily recognize whenever I'm in sleep paralysis. Tbh it can be cozy in there; you can bridge it to some cool lucid dreams where you're in control. There are times I purposefully get sleep paralysis by messing with my sleeping schedule just to shift them into lucid dreams where I can reminisce about memories of the past in 3d, tactile illusions and all.
In my personal experience, whenever I'm in sleep paralysis, I escape by intentionally hyperventilating to momentarily wake my brain up, then find the agency to sit up and let it pass. It takes me at most 2 to 3 attempts to finally break free.

Tips to get rid of Sleep paralysis:
    1. Don't sleep immediately once you're tired (from work or game etc.), try to ease your body and mind. Drinking a cup of hot or warm water could help you relax (water therapy to relax your body).
    2. Dont eat too much food before you sleep at night.
    3. Avoid sleeping in a body straight position like you're already dead or inside a coffin, people who have experienced sleep paralysis have this common sleeping position.
    4. Always be thankful and Pray 🙏.
P.S. Based on my own experience, research and from what I've heard to those who have experienced the same thing. I'm not a doctor or a medical practitioner, I just wanna share this to help everyone get rid of it especially those who are still experiencing sleep paralysis.

Happend to me 30 plus times last night, short lived once thankfully. Usually I only have 2-3 long ones at night. I never had to that demon or whatever sit on my chest and I think it is simply old folklore or something. Most people don’t see anything. The fact is that since you are in that mid state you don’t actually need to see something with your eyes to belive it, I remember one of the first ones I had to this day even tho it was like 15 years ago. It was a old lady standing on the other side of the bed holding a massive knife while looking directly at me and it lasted for minutes, I tried everything in my power to scream for help but no sound came out. But, over time you learn to live with them and now even if I see a dark or scary figure in my room I usually manage to take control of my mind and relax an wait it out. One of the last ones I felt I was levitating it was amazing, but in one of the first ones I heard and felt something growling at my left ear right beside my bed, I couldn’t say if it was a dog/wolf or a lion. Incidentally, the flashes of light, followed by audio that "didn't fit" started coming through and I subconsciously started focusing on those and it pulled me out. I've slept with a TV on every night since and I've become so accustomed to knowing when the paralysis is starting that my brain just knows to focus and to find the "flashing lights" and I know I'm coming out when the audio goes from a sort of garble to legible words.

As someone who constantly experiences sleep paralysis, Everytime i feel pain or discomfort while in a dream or nightmare, it's always related to my physical condition. I might be sleeping in a position that is uncomfortable to my biological function, I might be in a position whereby I'm not breathing properly and it manifests in my dream. This gets me startled awake and I rectify it. However, as someone who has had hundreds of lucid dreams, I've had lucid dreams and nightmares that have been governed by my fears! In fact, I've had a lot more lucid nightmares than lucid dreams. However, I think I might be a special case since I had celebral malaria when I was young. For those who don't know, celebral malaria is basically a long lasting nightmare. Your brain is infected in that you experience hallucinations of your worst nightmares. You can actually die from the disease itself or from a panic attack from the nightmares you are constantly experiencing. It's a recurring disease but i thank God I've not had it since i was 5. However, I've experienced both lucid dreams and nightmares hundred of times since then. So much that I can't tell if it's because of my past celebral malaria or if it's just normal. The nightmares are not fun because I always feel like I'm dying. The dark figures and demon like creatures are not fun either. It's crazy that I've experienced this hundreds of times but i still dread the nightmare experiences. Sometimes I'm aware of the fact that it's just a nightmare but the fear and dread doesn't go away. It always feels like this is the day they get you! Anyway, I'm always open to new information about this. I hope to learn more from this community!

Fascinating topic. Had several episodes of these in my life. Typically I would become extremely aware of my surroundings and sense that someone (or something) is about to enter the bedroom with 'malicious intent'. At that moment I would experience a sort of 'panic' because my brain would somehow tell me I need to act quickly and wake up! But I would actually be aware that my muscles won't react until I 'stress' myself out of the sleep.. it's hard to put into precise words, but I would try to end the sleep/half-sleep stage almost by power of will and by trying to move any part of my body that I can in hope that it will trigger the waking up stage.

During my PhD (2001) on muscle spindle control, I discovered an additional aspect that helped explain sleep paralysis and a few other phenomenon. During anaesthesia noradrenaline is secreted from the locus coeruleus (in the floor of the fourth ventricle) onto the cell bodies of the muscle spindle’s motoneurone (gamma motoneurone), hyperpolarising their cell membranes and therefore much reducing or even completely inhibiting the sensitivity of the muscle spindle. This would contribute to paralysis since movement without feedback from the spindles is virtually impossible. Rather old research that has likely been superseded. Cum grano salis!

I'm a medical doctor... my first experience was as a final year medical student... I remember being excited about the whole thing as it unfolded... I had a classmate that said he had it a lot when we learnt about it and so I was intrigued... it was exciting when it happened... I was fascinated by the fact I couldn't move and the fact that I could see a silhouette and feel a presence... maybe fear didn't come to play because I'm a Christian who happens to understand that I'm safe in Christ and so the thought of a demon attacking me didn't scare me... maybe that's why that fearful thought was not the first I had... I've heard that that's what actually happens in the spirit realm but true or false, it never bothered me... when it started, I was confused... then it hit me .. sleep paralysis and that's when it became fascinating... oh well... I said that I had enough of it and simply said a prayer to wake up and I did ... the second time it happened, I wasn't as excited... just wondered..."oh.. this again..." and tried to observe as much detail as I could of my surrounding till I slept off... I guess...

I can’t speak for anyone but myself, but I have had sleep paralysis episodes like 5 times in two months during my late teens. Then once in my early 20s, I had a sleep paralysis for a couple minutes, and I was hallucinating. It was like a time loop. I would get up from my bed, walk to the door, and touch the curtains and BAMM. I would be back to bed. This looped for like 4 times before I actually got out of my room. And each time I would feel the cold floor, the gust of air on my face, as well as feel the fabric of the curtains on my fingers. It was so real, but I panicked a little more each time. And then these episodes stopped. But last year, I woke up at like 3-4 AM in the night, and through my window, I saw a dead man on my balcony. And I freaked out. I closed my eyes, and opened them to see a silhouette of a person sitting on the chair next to my bed. And I just closed my eyes, and waited for it to get over. I know it is just me hallucinating in my sleep paralysis, but I still is very scary.

The closest I've had to any sort of sleep hallucination is that sometimes if I'm extremely sleep deprived and attempting to finally sleep, I can hear distant voices calling out my name. Familiar voices that aren't around anymore, like my late grandmother calling my name from across her house. It's just quiet and subtle enough that I know it's not real and that I'm just hearing things, but it's really weird still.

It finally got under control taking anti anxiety meds after a year of it going unchecked.

Ive had sleep paralysis several times. My episodes have always been feeling like im actually awake and getting out of bed, walking thru my home and hearing a knock or hearing a family member call my name. I dont realize im in a dream which is creepy but for some reason everything seems a little dimmer not like its actually daytime. Then when i finally go to answer the door or find who was calling my name they turn around and distort creepily and wrap their arms around me.😮 i suddenly start floating back to bed and realize its a dream but i try screaming or moving and i cant move at all. At this time im just laying feeling terrified like something is on me, i dont see anybody anymore but i feel like im being watched until suddenly i snap out and realize im ok.
🔴 First couple times it was horrying then i read that the more you fight it the longer it feels, the key is to just relax and roll with it. As crazy and creepy as it seems, dont be scared and just chill let it roll accept the pressure of something on you and youll wake up almost immediately. Yes it sounds crazy but when you wake up out of it you feel so relaxed. Lol

I'd want to share my experience with sleep paralysis and how I overcame it.
It all started with a typical or sometimes fictional sort of dream, and you suddenly feel like you're living in that dream, and the sounds you're hearing inside/outside the room also play a role in the dream. Then you realize your mind has suddenly awakened and you can't move any part of your body; it only lasts 1-2 minutes or less, but they are the worst of the panics that used to happen to me for at least 2-4 years. After I did the research, I realized that this occurs in the majority of people who have extremely poor sleeping patterns.
    Tips I followed:
    I followed the following advice:
    1. Attempt to recall where you're sleeping right now, and most sleep attacks occur in scenario based dreams, so attempt to recall where you're sleeping once you're under attack.
    2. Whenever I was in this bad dream, I used to focus on moving my finger tips, which helped me become conscious.
    3. I used to get a hint in my head a few seconds/milliseconds before the sleep paralysis, so I fixed myself to wake up at the time.
    4. Very important one, tried sleeping in room temperature or avoiding extreme cold places to sleeping.
Things to cure the frequent sleep paralysis.
    1. Need to maitain sleep timings, try to sleep exactly same time every day for 7 hours and best try to sleep in warm and calm environment atleast for 2-3 months and best try to sleep at night and it helped me to cure the problem atleast 90%.
Now, i hardly get these panics and also I noticied if you sleep in too cold environment there is more chances of getting the sleep environment.
Things to do if you experience recurrent sleep paralysis.
    1. Luckily i contacted no one, I Maintained fixed sleep schedules, attempt to sleep at the same time every day for 7 hours and best to sleep in a warm and quiet setting atleast for 2-3 months and best to sleep at night and it helped me to cure the problem atleast 90% of the time.
I no longer have these panic attacks, and I've come to realize that sleeping in a cool atmosphere increases your chances of getting the sleep environment.
Lastly, when I was having these sleep attacks, I used to work in a stressful atmosphere and used to do rotational work shifts, such as sleeping during the day for a few weeks and sleeping at night for a few weeks. If you suffer from frequest sleep paralysis, my recommendation is to avoid rotational shifts and a stressful lifestyle. You will feel much better if you sleep for 7 hours at night and avoid all tension.
*Don't be worried; it happens to the majority of people, and you're just lacking in good sleep practices.*

I've dealt with sleep paralysis since I was a child. My demon doesn't always sit on my chest. I can feel it crawling up my back or my legs. Sometimes, it's a bunch of tiny creatures. Sometimes, there's no presence at all. I always hear a loud buzzing as well. The weird thing is that it is kind of like augmented really where my eyes are open and I see the real world and my hallucinations simultaneously. I've learned if I jerk my body hard enough, I can pull myself out of an episode. Sometimes, I just ride it out. I have to sit up and stay up because if I try to fall back asleep right away, another episode begins immediately.

Fascinating, thank you for these explanations.
I had a demonic episode which I won't go into detail about, but it absolutely terrified me. I fit the profile at the time, female and in my early twenties.
Last night, as I was close to falling asleep, I heard a loud *bang!* and sensed a large flash of light to my left. _That_ has never happened before, although occasionally I'll hear a knocking sound that isn't real. I'm a sleepwalker, happened more often in my teens but still happens occasionally and usually involves spiders that don't exist. And unfortunately I'm borderline narcoleptic, which manifested when I was about 19. Doesn't matter how much sleep I get, I can literally fall asleep in my chair while working.
It's not fun having your brain mess with you this way.

I started a new Rx med and began experiencing loud explosion with a simultaneous bright flash of light. I have Hypersomnia so always sleepy. I came across a side note parasomnia called “EHS-Exploding Head Syndrome“ that I thought was a joke, but nope it’s a real thing. They said it occurs usually when just falling off to sleep. I was tired like I always am in the afternoon & was just looking out my window but not just falling asleep. Oddly no ringing in my ears or spots in my eyes as I would’ve expected if it was real. After getting off the medicine EHS stopped. My Dr had me try the daily med again & after 3 days the EHS started happening. Again stopped the med and it stopped. No literature I’ve found that knows why it can happen etc…but it’s been known to happen way before I had it happen. Even my sleep specialist of 15yrs never heard of it. Weird experience, startles but in an instant it’s over with no lingering side effects.

I wonder about the demonic hallucinations, too.
My sleep paralysis experience was always demonic.
      This happened in my teens.
Before going to bed, I decided to pray because it had been a while. The sleep paralysis began shortly after. I saw a shadowed figure at the foot of my bed. It told me to stop praying and asked, "Why now do you start to pray?"
We spoke through my mind since my body was paralyzed and asleep.
"I want you to stop praying."
It got closer, and all I could do was move my eyes. I heard a loud hum/static vibrations. I thought I was going to die in my sleep.
I prayed, saw a bright light, and then I was able to break out of my sleep paralysis.
I also wonder why the humming static vibrations accommodate the sleep paralysis.

once you have learned that it's not a big deal the hallucinations either go away or change. Mine now are a tactile feeling of a small animal like a cat getting into bed with me from the foot of the bed.
I'm still a bit scared at first when I first wake up paralyzed but no whee near as bad and it goes away quickly.

I have had strange experiences. When i was little i would see a blue translucent man. Supposedly i had multiple experiences seeing him but i only actually remember one. The time i do remember is when i woke up and he was standing on the other side of room, it looked like he was looking at something outside, and occasionally he would turn his head and look to see if i was awake. I watched him for awhile and i have never felt so scared my whole life.
I remember another time (in my 20s) i was in my room and saw in the reflection a dark shaddow figure walk past me and disappeared through the wall, about a minute later what looked like a family of shaddow figures (2 tall and 2 short). The first one it was like it didnt even notice me, but the 2nd group, i cant remember fully but i do remember thinking that they know i am there and they knew i could see them, i remember feeling like the big ones were shielding the smaller ones from me.
My absolute strangest experience BY FAR, occured during what i can only describe as a strange dream, i know that i wasnt asleeep but know i wasnt fully awake either, it felt like i was a combo of both.
During this experience i lost track of time and place. When i came back to i had to readjust myself back to where i was (kinda like wheh you readjust your gps location), and i still dont have any idea how long this experience went for. It feels like it was a short duration but the amount of things that happen do not match up. My bearings and time felt wrong.
In this 'dream' i encountered what i can only describe as a reptile humanoid. Large yellow eyes with vertical slits like a snakes, and Two little holes for a nose and a mouth that looked a turtles. I cannot remember the colour of skin, her eyes is what my focus was on.
It was a female and she felt like someone very powerful like she was royalty, i felt intense fear in her presence, she was doing it. What was the strangest thing about her was that she wore an ancient Egyptian headdress.
I know i enounted other beings in this experience, but my memory is so broken down straight away it was like i was trying to remember a dream the next day, i remember them but im blank when trying to describe them

It happens to me a lot more than I want. I have an old woman pressing down my chest can't moved. Its been happening to me since young. One time it was a small dark shadow who was by my legs. This shadow man wore a cloak and hat and kept growing upwards. And just the other day I had a woman in red choking me. Another weird thing is that my dog was yelping and seem like it saw it too. 😮

This was a great help to me. I had this happen once to me and it was unforgettable.
I never saw any being or thing on top of me when I awoke but what I can tell you is that from head to toe, I had a pressure that covered my entire body and pushed me down into my bed with even pressure, I felt held down from head to toe with a forcable pressure. I was looking around but could not move or speak.
I felt the initial thrusting pressure that felt like I was being pushed/pressed down into my bed with a perfectly even pressure, like a mold was being made of my body.
It lasted a couple minutes. My mind went to the scary place of “ I am completely vulnerable, I cannot protect myself”
I will probably save this video and watch again to better understand it. But now I have answers to what the heck happened to me. Thank you for this informative video!
Have a fantastic Thanksgiving and weekend! 😊💯🍁🦃

It seems to be happening more to me these days. I get it at least once a month. But no demons (probably because I sleep on my stomach). I either hear a sound, like someone’s at the door, or a presence behind or beside me and you can’t do anything about it ‘cause you can’t move. It’s so horrifying. In fact (funny this was posted today because), last night, it happened again, but for the first time, only my left side was paralysed and I could move my right side. But I was afraid to move because the experience is really that scary.

    • @Elemblue2
      @Elemblue2 10 месяцев назад

If you ever can move, please check. Its only ever happened to me twice. I hear the sounds of them moving around the room. The sounds are really realistic, and the one time I thrashed my way out of it I heard it leave. If you can somehow still move, think of the closure you could get just by looking... or it could be the begining of your personal harry potter book.

The first few times was horrific,I remember the first time I was 10 laying in my dark room(on my back)all of a sudden my door started opening and I hear a long drawn out creak of the hinges and that triggered my sleep paralysis.I was paralyzed with fear imagining something is at the door coming in but why the long drawn out creaking of the rusty hinges…at this moment a face looked over mines and I’m still paralyzed from being half asleep and half awake.Combine that all into one thing and HORRIFIC is the best description. After the next 30 experiences with sleep paralysis I am now 34 years old and just had a sleep paralysis last night. But instead of the fear it used causes me,now I wake up and close my eyes right after and fall back asleep like a baby
I’m not saying it’s only sleep paralysis and not something more like a demon using this tactic to feed off my fear but guess what?I think about the people that can’t get a good nights rest and I shot my eyes with the motivation I need 😅,I shut my eyes and sleep peacefully in remembrance of those people with a prayer for me and them to find peace and comfort.love SadPuppy

Mine was just 2 days ago, first one ever. I dont fully remember the dream but I remember realizing that the 2 men I were talking to were actually demons, so i just said "Dear Lord, please help me" and they started laughing at me and I was really confused until one said "We almost had you dumba**" and I woke up in a state of paralises and I was confused at first and then I realized I was in sleep paralysis i tried running in my bed as I was laying on my side it was like my brain was telling me yes we are doing that but I wasnt. I then heard many chuckles of creepy laughter behind me throughout the process of trying to move. I started to freak out and try turn around and reach my arm out trying to say help me again and again and again. I then felt a really warm conforting touch of 2 hands on my back which enabled me to move again. I believe that was Jesus. I woke up and could move but just laid there for a second and said "Yo" expecting a response from someone because I could hear laughter just a minute ago. But no response. No idea what the purpose of that whole experience was for me.

While having one, i dreamt that i was looking at the mirror in my bathroom and the tub was empty. But the reflection showed the bath filling with black water.
I look at the tub again and it was empty.
Now looked back at the reflection and an all black figure started rising from the water.
I looked at the tub again and there is still no water. Then behind me, the dark figure was there and i could see its eyes clearly because the face is all black. Then it started choking me.
I remember trying to grab the hands choking me but couldn’t lift my arms.
Then finally had the strength to lift my arms and with that effort like trying to lift something really heavy made me wake up.
The strange thing about it is that I remember every second of it after i woke up.
What i really hate about all of it is that because something is really physically happening to my body while i dreamt and it made me feel it was real. And add the terrifying details of the dream made it worse.
Can you imagine something like that felt real?

I’ve only had sleep paralysis once, induced by psychiatric medication changes, and thankfully I already knew about sleep paralysis so I was able to keep myself calm when I got the feeling of someone crawling in bed behind me. Been having episodes since the age of 14, Im 40 now. Still a scary experience. The most odd one I had was at the age of 16 I was sleep in the backseat of a car on the way to a family reunion. My grandmother and my aunts were in the car having a full conversation, while I was frozen with "the figure" sitting in middle seat between me and my aunt. The most odd thing about it was it was during the daytime. The only time I had sleep paralysis in the daytime.

In the past I had bouts of sleep paralysis; no demons on my chest, but a sense of some 'evil presence' nearby (usually at the foot of the bed just out of sight). It usually occured after a long and stressful series of nightshifts. Nowadays it's rare (I no longer work shifts), but the advice I received proved very helpful: If you *know* you're in that sleep-paralysis state, concentrate on moving your eyeballs; if you can move your eyes, the paralysis will immediately be broken. Worked for me, hope it helps.

I've experienced this more than once. I used to experience it often when I was younger, especially in college when I was getting little and poor quality sleep. Now in my mid 30's I'm getting more and better quality sleep, so it occurs less. Also, I changed my sleeping position from on my back to on my stomach, which I find helps to keep it from happening. Knowing that there is a medical explanation also helps me to stay calm during the experience and wait until my body can move.

I was a very lucid dreaming kid. I could choose my landscape and I could fly as easily as I can walk in waking life.
I had sleep paralysis a few times. There were some terrifying ones but when I became aware that it was sort of a dream state, the panic would go and then it would be a battle of my authority over my lucidity and whatever this is. It would feel like wrestling. And it would feel like a struggle.. but once the initial shock was over I would fight but not in fear but actually feeling disrespected by something thinking it can take over my internal will..
When speaking of night terrors, those would also find me during those sleeps where I am not at the helm. Maybe I was tired that night..

I have only experienced sleep paralysis once before. I didn’t have any visual hallucinations, so no demons were crawling on me, fortunately. However, I did experience auditory hallucinations. Mostly what I heard was the sound of metal pieces grinding against each other violently. I recall starting to hear a chainsaw revving up, as well. Fortunately, hearing about sleep paralysis many times before from the Internet relieved me from worrying that some killer was going to dice me up. However, what I was not prepared for was the titanic pressure I felt on my chest. I felt like my lungs were collapsing and that, if I fell asleep again, I would stop being able to breath entirely. A twisted part of me used to want to know what an episode of sleep paralysis felt like, but at that moment, I tried snapping out of it as fast as I could, repeatedly trying to will my arms into the air as if they were bound by adamant chains. I literally thought my life depended on it.

I experienced sleep paralysis several times in my life, but there was always a common pattern between those episodes, each episode usually started with me having a dream that I am somewhere outside and at some moment inside my dream I starting to feel extremely tired and I am involuntarily falling asleep inside my dream and all of this is accompanied by the internal struggle of me trying to prevent myself from falling asleep within my dream ( since in my dream I’m usually outside somewhere on the street ), but that feeling of tiredness inside my dream overwhelms me and it starts to feel like I am losing total control over my body inside my dream ending up with sleeping on the street without being able to move a limb. Then this feeling of tiredness, and inability to move any of my limb is only growing as my dream is gradually getting transformed into other similar dreams. And all of this may or may not eventually end up with sleep paralysis where I am between sleeping and awake state, feeling totally paralysed. The last time i was experiencing some hallucinations of some a girl sitting beside me on my bed and was pushing the left part of my body as I was trying to move it as if preventing me from waking up at least that’s how it felt. Does anyone else experience similar patterns together with sleep paralysis? I mean, the patterns of getting tired and involuntarily falling asleep inside your dream?

I experience something similar but on the other end: myself waking up in the dream thinking I'm waking up in real life. And the dream environment is exatcly how I would wake up in real life, it's my current room and everything. But it feels difficult to wake up, feels like my body is heavy and I'm so tired I can't wake. And then when I think I have finally awakened after a while I realize I'm still dreaming.
