Which technique is your favorite?
All are very nice but like the distress spray one, and the reverse grey one (#10) best. I am going to try the napkin card but wondered about using white pigment ink lightly over the embossing. Thanks for sharing.

I love the technique inking the negative space of the embossing folder, I have a drawer full of these embossing folders and hardly use them because I couldn't get the effect I wanted. Thank you so much, I will be watching and learning from more of your videos

I think the gray background with the white flowers is stunning. I'm a "less is more" person, so I think I would have stopped there. Not that the butterflies and dots are bad. It's just my taste. I have done some experimenting with inking embossing folders too and you can get some really neat and beautiful effects. I really like the washi tape embossing. Great way to use up my washi tape stash. I think embossing folders are the quickest and easiest way to get good bang for your buck! Embossing folders are usually not that expensive compared to dies. Thanks!

This is a fabulous collection of techniques . There were a few I’ve never done so thanks for the ideas . The only thing I have done with embossing folders that you didn’t mention was embossing with vellum , but results are very variable .

What a terrific selection and demonstration of techniques! I like the inking of embossing folders, never tried with sprays… it was really pretty. I often emboss when I do napkins, it adds so much! Simon’s stamping foam is a great, inexpensive and reusable tool! That card came out beautiful also !! 🧑🏼🎨😀

Thanks so much! The foam is fun and a very inexpensive supply as you get 3. They have larger one now and ones with cut outs. You can even use the sides to make borders! 🩷

I love #7 technic! It is the one with the various strips of scraps and then embossed. I’m guessing that the key to getting a great look with this technique is to make sure that all the strips have similar colors or you’ll get a mess. What do you think?
Well, not necessarily. Paper strips from the same paper pack will always look good. You could go monochromatic or even colors that work well together: yellows and greens, reds and pinks, etc.

Great video!!! Is there a way you can show us your finished cards with these techniques? Hmmm....my favorite card was the Lisa Horton painted flower. It reminds me of Spring.
I absolutely love that Lisa Horton embossing folder. As far as finished cards using these techniques. I've create a digital product (half sheet flash cards that can be left in tact and stored in a binder or cut apart and stored on a ring) with all 20 techniques, info/instructions for each, and a photo of finished cards for purchase in my store. Hi! I really like your videos- they are so helpful and of great quality. I love using my embossing folders so always looking for new ideas. My embossing machine is very old and I am unable to use the 3d folders. Looking for a machine that will work on all different thickness folders. Suggestions?
Thank you for your kind words! I know loads of people really like the Big Shot, but I only have experience with Spellbinders Platinum 6. The main reason I went with it is the fact that the entire inside is steel. Sturdy little bugger! Many machines also have plastic parts. That just didn’t seem right for me. I wanted something that would last. I didn’t really care for the electric machines either. By all means do your homework though. One size does not fit all. I do like that the 6 now comes with the universal plate system. I paid an additional $60 when they came out. Take a peek at the specs here

It looks like you used different thicknesses on this machine. I appreciate your input. I will check this machine out!😊
Yes, I absolutely use different brands and thicknesses of folder. There is a Gina K machine that supposedly adjusts for various thicknesses. Again, I’m no expert on that one. I have had to figure out what works and what doesn’t. Good luck!

what is the GSM of the paper you emboss in 3D please.
Hello! If I’m using Recollections from Michael’s it’s 65# and 176 gsm. That what I typically use as card panels. If I’m using Accent Opaque then it’s 100# and 271 gsm.
