Motley Crue Got HEATED at Metallica Before the Mick Mars Drama

- The recent speculation about Motley Crue and Mick Mars is not the first time the band has been accused of playing to a track. Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich previously called Motley Crue out, leading Nikki Sixx to issue a heated response.

Which band would you rather see live? Two great bands, but you can only pick one. Metallica or Motley Crue?!
Metallica 🤘

Metallica. Duh
Metallica
Metallica , All the way. Had a friend see Crue last summer. She said between Vince and I think it was Tommy that night. The show was horrible
Nikki calling out Lars for the make-up has to be one of the most ironic things I've ever heard. 😂
Callin him out because in the 80s Metallica laughed and was against motley for wearing make up and spandex. Opening 80s hair bands for metallica would be the backs of everyone and the finger for their entire set. When metallica or more so Lars and Kirk put on eye liner it was a wtf moment for us old metallica fans

Look for Vince's recent performance of Home Sweet Home at the Grand Ole Opry. Pure gold! 🤣
@william blackstock He doesn't sound like he used to. But, still unique and still fits the band perfectly.

Lars might not play well live time to time. But atleast he plays live.
I'll bet that 90 percent of people that knock Lars just do it to be "cool" and couldn't keep time with a watch.

I don’t know how this popped on my feed but I’m watching this after Murder in the Front Row. We all know who the better band was, is and has ALWAYS been.
That's a great doc! Metallica have always blown away the corny crue
I've seen both bands, many times since the 80's, and although James doesn't sound as great as he used to Metallica runs circles around the Crue musically.
While that is definitely true, the same could be said about the vast majority of those 80s "hard rock" bands. As said in Metallica's Four Horsemen: "Time has taken its toll on you, the lines that crack your face!" One exception is the recent Mr. Bungle album, Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny Demo, with Scott Ian and Dave Lombardo. It brought back vivid memories of "discovering" Metallica, Anthrax, and Megadeth as an 80s teen.
James may not sound "as great as he used to", he still sounds good and you know what he's singing. Same can't be said for Vince.
Same. Agree 100% the only talented MC member was Mick Mars. Metallica is strong musically even if they have pussied out over the years
heres how I look at it , I would love to sit down with James and go over guitar licks with me , but after that id rather go party with the Crue, yea James & kirk on another level of music most of us will never understand,
The beef between Metallica and Motley Crue goes all the way back to when they were both playing the clubs on and around “The Strip” in LA, when they were across the street from each other as bands, and ‘tallica yelled at Crue making fun of how they were dressed and Crue threatening to kick their asses…and Metallica members laughing it off, thinking there was no way they would even catch them in those heels!
It was just Lars, not Metallica. Dave and James wouldn't run away
@@homerc9101
The point was that none of the members of Metallica did or would run…..they didn’t have to…..it was their joke, not mine…whatever member/s it was.
You know what, Metallica are still releasing new music. The newest Crue music is 15 years old and they are touring a massive tour on their greatest hits. They should be opening for Def Leppard each night until they release a new album. Or maybe get on the state fair circuit.
@@boofert.washington2499 I really like Motley Crue I just wish they would make new music. Sixx calls people names and acts all high and mighty dissing other musicians’ music when his band hasn’t made anything new and they’re resting on past laurels.
Def Leppard need to stop too! For me, nothing brilliant after the loss of the brilliant Steve Clark and they still trade off his music. Just retire please. It’s sad.
@@karenglenn6707 it’s true. They’re a bit long in the tooth. I saw them way back during the Hysteria tour and they were great then. Their newest album was honestly pretty good.
I saw them in concert about the time Saints if Los Angeles came out. Mick was great live. Vince had vocal issues on the old stuff but sounded good on newer material. They were definitely using tracks. I had binoculars. They weren't really singing the backing vocals.
Dude making fun of a drummer while their lead singers looks like my some drunk aunt and haven’t sang good since the early 90s.
I think they threatened to sue Mick if he were to speak his truth. But the truth is already beginning to unravel on its own. Wouldn’t be the first time he’s been treated badly by the band. Too bad that everyone, including them, knows they are nothing more than a Theatre of Pains in the Ass without Mick
Lars was on Nikki's pod cast a couple years ago. I saw it on you tube. Don't seem to be any problems they got on great.
James went on as well.
Where’s Mick.? He hasn’t done any interviews since he “ retired “ . He was probably let go and they told him not to saying anything to the press. “ We’ll just say you retired Mick okay? We’ll sue you if you tell the press what really happened.”
Mick is sick. Always has been n it gets worse every year. Im glad he is retired. Hes had it bad but kept playing
It’s hasn’t even been a year since the Motley Def tour and there’s already been so much drama it’s insane
Motley has to rely on hype..they've been doing that since the Shout tour ended..because that's pretty much when the talent ended.
They should make a South Park Episode of Motley Crue and Metallica
Mick Mars is a very influential & underrated guitarist
what the rest of them dumbasses don't know is that Mick Mars is the Devi, He didn't sell his soul , Hes the one buying !
Motley Crue has been using gtr backing tracks for years. In the late 90’s they were playing a show in my town and rented some equipment from my company. One of the pieces rented was a Tascam DA88 8 track dig tape machine. When we got it back there was a tape left in it. That tape had prerecorded gtr backing tracks on it. It seemed to be mostly filler riffs that would play during solo’s to fill the void of just having bass backing.
I have always enjoyed the great songs from both bands but they each have their own lanes to stay in. Although if there was ever a head on collision only Metallica would survive.

1 thing I’ll definitely say METALLICA definitely doesn’t PRE RECORD THERE SHIT!!!!
TBH if Motley is using pre-recorded content or backing tracks instead of using them on the instruments, to be fair they should have them to cover up Vince Neils voice. He has not sang the words of their songs correctly or in full for well over 20 years now. That is coming from a HUGE fan of the band and I say this about quite a few bands not just Motley. The list is quite long on bands who use backing tracks or pre-recorded parts or songs at live shows. So not to make this a 50,000 word comment I will not list the numerous bands this applies to. If people only knew how many bands from this era who use backing tracks or pre-recorded stuuf during live shows, people may never go to another live show of any band from this era or before this era.

Sixx after 'The End Tour' "if we ever turned around and started touring again I'd have so much egg on my face". The Heroin Diaries imo are fiction with a very small part fact - when you're on smack the LAST thing you want to do is write a diary and Phil Lewis - among others called him out and if there's one thing Sixx has always had it is a glass jaw. Calling one of 'the' most iconic metal drummers what he did is childish, petulant, and just idiotic. Juvie city Frank and as for 'The Dirt' - it is mostly BS.

I have no clue about the rest of the parts being live vs tape or how much but to say Vince was all on tape is completely untrue. He would sound SO much better if he was and much more consistent. Vince is a great frontman, with a really unique tone to his vocals, but his strength is in the studio where he has complete control of the moment.
Vince sings the lead but the backup vocals are tracks. They started using those on the Feelgood tour. The only tour since that didn't use tracks was the Carobi tour. Guitar tracks have been used on some tours and not on others but those were always secondary guitar parts, Mick was still playing. I find it funny that were even comparing these 2 bands. Motley Crue was a fun 80's act that went away as it should have but was resurrected for all the wrong reasons. Metallica is a great and talented band that is a million times more skilled and talented. I love when Nikki makes fun of Lars, Nikki should take off his wig and make up and take a hard long look in the mirror. They wouldn't even be playing such huge venues if it weren't for the other acts.

I can see firsthand seeing Mötley Crüe at Riverbend, Cincinnati, Ohio. They were sounds of a rhythm guitarist playing while Mick was playing lead, but there was no rhythm guitars on stage. Any band that uses pre-recorded material live they should not be playing. We could save our money and just watch videos on RUclips.
I remember watching a MTV documentary on Motley Crue. They were supposed to be close with one another. Brothers to the end! Fight one member of Motley, you fight all four. Discovering all that lovey-dovey brotherhood feelings they have for each other was a load of crap! In reality, they hate each other's guts. They were about to kick Mick out after the US Festival. Bob Daisley talked them out of it. Shows the integrity of Motley Sixx.Lee.Neil. Hell... Mick came up with the name! Motley Crue vs Metallica- Metallica crushes them. Breaks them in 2 pieces over the knee... but not Mick. He gets a pass.
Classic stuff there
From the very start Metallica as been about the music and the fans. Their biggest vice was probably they toured too much and with that, they never gave themselves enough time for their downtime. Motley Crue had their own thing going and they went down a different musical path, there are far more important things to worry about than keep having a go at each other.

I saw Motley Crue in 2000, that's 23 years ago, and they were incredibly disappointing then. Nick and Nikki play their parts wonderfully, and they had Samantha Maloney on drums at the time. She was actually really good and did a fine job stepping in for Tommy, look Vince has been the weak link since the mid-90s. The dude can't sing and he doesn't keep his body in shape well enough.
he sounded pretty sketchy on their first album. suddenly on the second he was better.

Mick won’t do any interviews. He’s too private of a person. But if you watched the episode of That Metal Show, Mick hasn’t been happy for awhile and couldn’t wait for it to end.
I wouldn’t pay to see either band !
Good for you
nobody is gonna miss your ass at those concerts believe me
If Nikki Sixx decked Lars Ulrich I wouldnt be surprised.
He can't reach down that far.
now that I'd pay to go see.......
Mick needs to come out and address this issue. Period !!
The truth. The Crue is staying in headlines. They're genius.
thats all it is brother ! and its free
some celebs spend millions putting there name out there and all they have to do is talk shit about Nikki, now Hollywood you can pay me later, I like coke to .
Metallica doesn't need other major bands to help sell out arenas and stadiums 😂
