  • The recent speculation about Motley Crue and Mick Mars is not the first time the band has been accused of playing to a track. Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich previously called Motley Crue out, leading Nikki Sixx to issue a heated response.

Motley Crue has been using gtr backing tracks for years. In the late 90’s they were playing a show in my town and rented some equipment from my company. One of the pieces rented was a Tascam DA88 8 track dig tape machine. When we got it back there was a tape left in it. That tape had prerecorded gtr backing tracks on it. It seemed to be mostly filler riffs that would play during solo’s to fill the void of just having bass backing.

TBH if Motley is using pre-recorded content or backing tracks instead of using them on the instruments, to be fair they should have them to cover up Vince Neils voice. He has not sang the words of their songs correctly or in full for well over 20 years now. That is coming from a HUGE fan of the band and I say this about quite a few bands not just Motley. The list is quite long on bands who use backing tracks or pre-recorded parts or songs at live shows. So not to make this a 50,000 word comment I will not list the numerous bands this applies to. If people only knew how many bands from this era who use backing tracks or pre-recorded stuuf during live shows, people may never go to another live show of any band from this era or before this era.

FULL disclosure - I have been a die hard Crue Head since I was a kid, I have their rarest of rare very first SATD record, a treasure. But as brilliant as NS is at writing songs - he has always been a imo braggart. Don't get me wrong he has partied like very few, died from OD's, but his memory and hypocrisy has always tripped him up like the meglo-maniac Paul Stanley. Sixx after 'The End Tour' "if we ever turned around and started touring again I'd have so much egg on my face". The Heroin Diaries imo are fiction with a very small part fact - when you're on smack the LAST thing you want to do is write a diary and Phil Lewis - among others called him out and if there's one thing Sixx has always had it is a glass jaw. Calling one of 'the' most iconic metal drummers what he did is childish, petulant, and just idiotic. Juvie city Frank and as for 'The Dirt' - it is mostly BS.
