- This is the brand new release from Boyue, the Likebook Alita. This has many improvements over the previous generation's Mimas. Such as a flush screen and bezel, and all new styling queues.
Buy it today from Good e-Reader - goodereader.com/blog/product/... Наука
What I would love to see covered for this device:
How well does it handle PDFs: displaying them, paging though, jumping to, writing over?
How well do Kindle (and other readers) work with it compared to it's stock app?
How good and what are the export/import, cloud/PC sync features?
Does a screen protector help with the drawing feel?
same questions here
Alita is still a great e-reader. If you can find one, don't think, just grab it. That sd card slot is housing a samsung 512gb card and is literally holding my entire e-book library. I've have mine since 2019 and i have so far read over 700 books on it! EDIT: Just flashed my 6.1 Alita to android 8 and its soo much better of an e-reader now! WOW!
Love the translation and lookup features of this device. Very cool!
I want this.. Very cool
Thank you for the review
Plz, could you compare with mimas?
like side by side
@goodereader Does the Side by side view work for left handed people? I would like to be able to read the book and take notes, but my hand would be covering the book if it does not support lefties.
What about wearing matte screen protector to improve writing experience? Paperlike kind of stuff...
Does anyone knows if it is possible to take notes directly on a PDF file?
does this support TTS for all formats like boox note pro?
I am a proud owner of Likebook Mars because of your recommendation, this one looks great too, but I have everything I need with Mars. It's an awesome device.
Same here, i adore my Likebook Mars recommended by this channel. It is rather slow and can't watch movies like in their showcase but can't complain much since I can finally read decent mangas and ebook in here.
The Alita would have been waaaay better Manga reader experience but it is probably too expensive for me since I couldn't even afford the likebook Mimas (look like similar size as Alita)
Can we anodate directly on pdf file or other format?
Can you save your notes with the pdf together? Bake your scribble inside the pdf? How does it work with one note ? As I make my journal ing in one note so that I can see them on multiple devices.
Also how do you save your notebook s? Kindle book reading is it similar to kindle itself ?
Thanks. Is it good for reading manga ?
How is it supposed to sync notes? Thx
Do you plan to compare this to the Eewrite and Supernote?
1:07 If it's anything like the Mimas, you can actually slide the contrast slider all the way to the right to put it into monochrome mode. Some colour comics (like "The Fuzzy Princess") are readable in this mode, some (like "Mr Wolf's Class") aren't.
@goodereader ... Any news if there is an Alita 2 in the near future ... Of course to compete with Boox Note 2 ?
Thanks
Hi,
does this device has Glass layer on the screen or is it a non-glass construction ?
thanks.
No idea about resolution, no PDF examples, what is the e ink like to read ? please look into these things pls
hello ok I'm interested in this device for reading I would like to know if it is compatible with Mobi mode from Amazon and has language for Portuguese Brazil
I want this! But how much does it cost and how do I get it in Brazil?
Even though the Mimas has too large bezels I do appreciate the page turn buttons. It's very useful when the ereader is on a table etc. They seem to have removed those on this one. That's a mistake in my opinion. Smaller bezels do look great though.
I agree. Even though I mainly got the Mimas because it had a white shell, before realising that it ended up being a limited edition of sorts, I do like the page turn buttons, that are creatively internally addressed as volume keys, and they're so close that I can do Dog Man "Flip-O-Rama" pages with ease, except that while the OverDrive Libby app supports page turns using Page Up and Down keys on a PC keyboard, it doesn't allow for page turns using volume keys.
As an owner of the Likebook Mimas, Boyue did a disservice by excluding the page-turn buttons on the Alita (although I do agree with moving the button(s) from the bottom edges of the device to the bottom centre of the device). The page turn buttons (which some apps treat as volume buttons) enables some apps (eg: FanFiction) to be more e-reader friendly by allowing for a scroll by page mode instead of constantly having to manually scroll line-by-line via touch and/or pen input.
PS: Boyue does provide an app in their app store that allows for the blending of the cool/white light and the warm/yellow light. In the defult App Store select the Tool tab and select the app with the moon in the sun icon (Warm/Cold Color Temp). The app hasn't been translated from Chinese yet, but it is self explanatory with only two slider bars to adjust (the top adjusts the warm light and the bottom adjusts the cool light).
In the middle of a cold winter day, while you are waiting for bus. These page turn buttons are life savers so you don't have to take off your glove to turn the pages, it is one of the main reasons I went after Mimas over other e-note devices.
anyone managed to get a foot pedal page turner to work with this?
Thank one for sharing.
could you please compare this to the Boox Note Pro
Can you install Nubico? Thanks
Alitta is better than Muses in small print?Alita has a big screen but low ppi.I usually look at a4 sized professional books.
Price?
Would love to see a comparison between this and the Boox Note 2.
hi... what is average the battery life please? Does the mimas has better battery considering this has 4300 mah while the mimas has 4700 mah? Thanks
I want to buy this, but can't find NO links with help and support, updates etc.. Manufacturer doesn't exist???! ... Nothing....... It's a shame, but ONYX BOOX is the only option in that case.
OTG? 5G support?
How is this compare to Onyx Boox Note Pro? Also does the WiFi support 5Ghz?
The Likebook Alita runs on the same Rockchip RK3368 as the Mimas, Muses, Mars, and Ares Note, and so, I know from my own Mimas that *it doesn't support 5GHz Wi-Fi.*
On the other hand, BOOX seems to offer better software, based on reviews I've seen. I don't own any of their devices, though.
I like this products that are good made and not susceptibe of scratches!
How about CBR and CBZ formats? Are they compatible natively?
Not natively. But if you install KOREADER for android ( Which is optimized for e-ink ) you get full CBR, CBZ support.
Hi, great review.
Just a reminder: onyx boox devices has built-in instant google translation option in their Neo Reader with the latest update.
Is google playstore avialable on this?
Yes.
I actually read my 1st "Alita Manga" on my Likebook Mars (by your recommendation). Big Alita fan here (film) and wanted to read the actual manga on a decent E-ink device. I waited 6 loooong months just so I can experience my 1st Alita manga on my pending Likebook Mars purchase: Woooooorrth It!
Please showcase an Alita Manga reading experience on this device, we have a huge growing fan base (youtube) and I'm sure once they saw what this beast can do for their "Alita Manga Experience" it would blow their mind lol.
Plus it is very Fitting considering this device is called "Alita".
I used to read It weekly... in Its first translated European edition....
I'm a big fan of Alita too. So when I was looking for some good big e-reader, this one was a clear choice. I wanted it primarily for reading mangas. As I'm getting older, my eyes are not as good as before, so I'm not able to read small text on my Paperwhite without constantly zooming in and out. This size is much better. For me the notetaking ability is not important at all and I would prefer a device without it in exchange for lower price.
I ordered one from your site for my personal use and as far as I know Indian custom officials are going to ask a very simple question to impose custom duty
It's basically falls in the category of notebook or Chromebook
As there is no category of like book reader
Kindly suggest me some points so that I can elaborate it better as notebook
It still says "Readed".
I've never heard anyone in Europe call an SD-card transflash. Who told you that nonsense?
well transflash is what a micro sd card used to be called because sandisk was formerly known as transflash
microSD card is also called TF card. I am not in Europe though.
@@noddlecak3279 Never even heard of...
This thing is pretty sweet. Hopefully the final release does away with their annoying UI widgets.
Also, they have an app for the lighting in their app store.
I can see a problem, I don't see a Kobo app, witch is the point for me to go to one of these. To have all my e-books in one place, all my Kindle, Kobo, Google, and even Nook books. This looks good, I am disappointed that an e-reader that does apps does not have more apps on reading, or even documents and or drawing out documents. This is the other thing that I would improve upon.
screen size? back light? ok 9:09 i see they have lighting. i can't figure out the screen size based on this video. guessing 8 inches. (looked it up -- it says 10.3 inches).
Muses is the smaller unit. Like the Mars but Power of Mimas in a smaller device.
Why aren't these as mainstream as kindles?
Because the Kindle belongs to an almost trillion-dollar company :)
The stock reading app's kerning is still terrible, especially with punctuation, even to the point of breaking across lines.
Theres just too many dang devices
I know right?
and they all look pretty much the same to me. And way too expensive. But I know that's not their fault.
made in Vietnam???
No, no it is not
This August Eewrite Epad will be shipped to me - it is a true killer of other ebooks !!! So, Goodereader - stop talking shit about Alita being a no-compromise device.
How is epad experience with you?
This thing is too beasting
lol, this comment wins !
Goodereader 🤭
These devices are getting packed every year
