Add a piece of 2x6 or piece of plywood 1/2 or 3/4" across the front bottom - it will be your frag catcher. Hold in place with one bolt on each side - slip fit .
Then take it off and you have a good "safe" frame to pick up and move and one flat piece with all the junk in it.
A triangle stand will also work. Think those cheap 3 legged shelf picture frame holders. They make a good pattern to make a big one. 2 cuts at the top and some cheap chain to keep them together and you "should" be ready to go and have almost no fraging on the bottom because there is no bottom.

I kept the two side 2x4’s. Put an eye bolt through the 1.5” of each. Hung the steel plate from two short chains that clip into the eye bolts.
Never hit the 2x4’s. Never hit the chains. The plate gongs nice!
The steel plate can be removed when not used....or left in place as a backstop when the cardboard target is used.

I’ve heard a lot of people doing the chain setup. I haven’t tried it yet, but it sounds like I might need to. 👍🏻

Hey thanks just built a set appreciate the info now to try these bad boys out. I really like how you have two different options with the same base. As I tend to shoot a lot of bolt action rifles with smaller single post targets as well as wide silhouette targets for my pistols!!

Thanks for the video. I just built two of these but I made some modifications. I cut the feet so they're 36" inches for a more solid and stable base. I also kept the posts the original way, however, I bought 1 1/12" X 24" flat bars that are 1/2" inch from Home Depot and fastened those to the front of the posts so they don't get chewed up. Works well.

Built 4 of these stands. Used 2 for targets with the 2x2's and used the other two along with a hinged cross-shelf (hinged to fit in the car) to make a shooting gallery that's easily held up using a couple of those 2x4 door barricade brackets.

    • @ClangandBang

T posts have to be driven into the ground so that means you need a driver or a sledge. Who cares how tall or short the targets are?
