  • Target stands made out of 2x4s. these are a dual purpose target stand, cardboard targets on furring strip uprights or steel targets on a 2x4 upright. These Target holders are cheep to make, around $4 a piece. I plan on using them for USPSA targets for now.

    I looked forever trying to find this design. Everyone else on YT has the most complicated and poorly designed stand. Yours is perfect! Thanks!

    Watching this in 2023. Can confirm target stands are NO LONGER 4 dollars to make 😂. But… still a great option and budget friendly stand

    I use a for sale sign holder from Lowe’s. I get the one with a heavy duty frame and zip tie cardboard to it. Works pretty good. Just replace the cardboard after 50-100 rounds and ur set.

    Great design. I definitely made everything way more accurately than needed. Slot for 2x4 is a little loose cause I used a skill saw and isn't perfect. Will slide a framing shim in to tighten up when I'm at the range. Any concern shooting a rounded bolt on the steel? I feel like that would send the bullet into rickoshit?

    Good thing about what is you can shoot the wood and not destroyed compared to you shoot the thin steel and be done with it

  • @edc_7321

    I heard you mention that you cut the furring strips to 5 feet for the uprights. Do you also cut your upright 2x4s to 5 feet as well?

    • @CountryViewAcres
      @CountryViewAcres  4 года назад

      I am going to guess 4ft, so you can get 2 out of an 8 foot 2x4

    • @IMMORTALFILMS
      @IMMORTALFILMS 9 лет назад

      Nice idea, i'm wondering if that would make the 2x4's to weak to support a heavier steel target wobbling back and forth as you shot it. That would work great for just the 1X2's tho.

    • @squirrelydan826
      @squirrelydan826 9 лет назад

      I have since made one of these. The top has foam to pin the paper targets to. Work great but the hollow point . 22 take alot of meat off the wood.lol

    • @JP-of8uq
      @JP-of8uq 2 года назад

      Mill out the support to accept 2x4, you do this once and can replace upright as much times as u need to. Mill the upright and every time you shoot the support accidentally you need to remill.

      We only knocked one over once, it had a 8" steel plate hanging from it, and we shot it with a 45-70.

  • @katcher06
    @katcher06 6 лет назад +18

    Why not just use 2x4s for the spaces in the middle? , then you wouldn't need the groove cut out

    • @DarkVegetaman
      @DarkVegetaman 6 лет назад +7

      Indeed, then on the sides you could just use 2x2 pieces to hold targets upright instead of 1x2s.

      Just made a stand with a standard chop saw stiffyschlong, and if you were capable of doing anything on your own, you probably would have already made one by now. And that's without being a douchebag.
      Great video by the way. Gonna take it out and use it this weekend. Thanks
